We're quickly approaching the mid point of October, I do think if we don't see anything next week, we may not see anything in 2018

Please NO! As much as I’m an Apple fan, they are really testing my patience with the lack of Mac updates. If all they release this year is the iPhone and Apple Watch (as well as the cheaper iPad earlier this year) then it will be a big kick from Apple on the lack of how little they care about the Mac.

I don’t know if I’m the only one but it feels like Apple cares more about iOS devices than putting some serious work into the Mac platform. Yes Mojave is a nice update I really like it BUT I’m talking hardware. We need to start seeing innovation like Microsoft seem to be putting into the Surface range (I know it’s Windows but at least they seem to be trying)

their papers SAID you have 14 days to return no questions asked...so if you return one item without a reason (no damaged done by the user) they have to, from legal stand point ,take it.
That’s just it, neither Apple nor any other retailer “have to” accept a return. They may have a return policy of 14-days, but like every other retailer they can deny a return if they believe it is fraudulent or does not meet their return policy standards. Why is this such a hard thing to understand? The links I provided gave enough proof of what I’m saying, but honestly, if someone really stops to logically think about it, they can see why buying items and returning them over and over or buying just to “rent”... are not right.

Is there a possibility that they could do an announcement at the adobe conference next week? They are supposed to make an announcement about a full version of Photoshop that works on the iPad pro. So would apple choose to reveal the new iPP there?

no they would announce the ipad at an apple event not adobe event.

Apple policy must be respected and its a little difference here between fraud and abuse Like i said, Apple will never reject 1 return no questions asked...even 2...i had a client who's 3rd return in 2 months was with troubles...but again 3 returns for the same object , with no issues. I suggested for our user, to try it for 10 days use it for work and return it if he doesn't like it that is one year old, and exchanged it for the new one , or keep it if he likes it. He understood what i meant, nobody here is 10 years old i guess...
Now, no more off topic, i am waiting for next week invites

A safe bet would be an early November release, kinda coinciding with the release of iOS 12.1 and past the iPhone XR hype

I totally agree. Our best bet for an keynote would be now on October 30th with a invite going out on or around the 23rd of this month. This bypasses the pre orders and release of the XR and is just before there q4 thingy (i forget what its exactly called) and if they go by what they have done in the past, would anouce pre orders on nov 2 with launch on nov 9th, making it close to 18 months since the last ipad pro launch in June 2017 and giving a 2 week buffer for them to brag about Xr pre orders and sales as its likely that the faceid and cameras in that phone are going to be the same in this ipad model.

I also am expecting new imacs and the mac mini (i really am hoping for a new imac with slimmer bezels and an updated front facing camera to 1080p and maybe HDR and true tone support along with siri like in the macbook pros. Id love face id as well and honestly i dont see why they couldent do it but im not expecting them to at this point. They need to save something to upgrade next year and i doubt they would give the imacs faceid before the macbook pros)

Thats what im hoping for atleast. Give me those things along with the new ipad and im a happy (but broke) guy :)

seems the same display dimensions...so the 10.5" will have even smaller footprint
This will be a lot smaller than 9.7" but with an 10.5" and lighter as well
And that 12.9" will have the biggest impact..side top and bottom bezels will shrink even more and will be a lot lighter than the current one

After using the 12.9” as my primary computer for the past 16 months I’ve been wanting missing the times that I could pick up a much lighter iPad for casual reading and browsing. The 12.9 feels a bit unwieldy at times.

Choosing between 10.5 and 12.9 (if the display size remains the same) in a smaller chassis is going to be very tough.

you will still want the larger display, since the ipad will be lighter and smaller overall

Knowing it is just a rumor and not necessarily going to be 100% true, ever since I read that post about both iPads keeping the same screen size (which I think makes a lot of sense) I think I might have hard time choosing between the two sizes. I loved my 10.5 iPP. But I always found myself zooming in and out to read a textbook with two pages open. And always thought yes it is there but I want tiny bit more screen space and couldn't justify purchasing a giant 12.9 because of those bezels. So somewhere around 11.5 would have been ideal. Yes I know 10.5 was portable and will be even more portable but the biggest change will be with the 12.9'.
I would like to know your opinions. Which one would you be inclined to buy if the screen sizes stay the same? (maybe this way time will pass faster until the iPP reveal... lol)

I am going to get the 12.9" this time, it is going to be so much smaller with no bezels!

For the past while I’ve been leaning toward the rumored 11” as my next iPad after using the 12.9 for some time. When I used the 9.7” Pro for a year I found I used it in a good balance/mix of landscape on the apple Smart Keyboard and in portrait for casual browsing, reading, one handed use, etc. With the 12.9 I find I almost always have it in landscape on the keyboard. In fairness it is my primary computer and the device I use the most - but I still miss how thin and light previous iPads were to handle (although the weight of the 12.9” is the same as the original iPad!).

I’ve been forcing myself to spend more time using the 12.9 in portrait for reading, and not keeping it on the keyboard as much. Now seeing that the new iPads may still be 10.5 and 12.9 and with thin bezels, I’m almost leaning toward staying with the 12.9. It’ll still be the nice large screen but I’m sure there will be a drop in weight and dimensions. I’ve also gotten so comfortable with this screen size that I worry about going smaller given I have no other computer or Mac at home... I think at the end of the day I’ll likely check them out in person before purchasing.

12.9 is to unwieldy to carry around for me. After a little over a year with the 12.9 I’m ready for the 10.5. Even with the smaller bezels it just means the 10.5 is more portable. The current 12.9 is 14” diagonal, the new version is going to be 13”. Still to unwieldy for me. I tried it and just find it so uncomfortable to use everywhere but at home. My boss on the other hand loves his 12.9 iPad. So it’s all personal preference.

Agreed - definitely personal preference. Whenever I pick up and briefly use the 10.5 it blows me away how thin and light it feels. Can’t imagine how it’ll be losing even more weight with reduced bezels.

the 12.9" its truly an 2 apps simultaneous device, i love the landscape where you have 1 app in full portrait mode with 4:3 ratio

12.9" for me any day. I sold my 12.9" back in March or whatnot and got a 10.5" to use while waiting for a new one to appear at WWDC or September event, but that didn't happen, lol. Anyway, the 10.5" was really good, but it was still a tad too small for me. Having a much lighter and smaller footprint 12.9" will be incredible (if true,) it will essentially be close to the same size as the original iPad... which will be fine for me.

Kallum.

As a musician, having an almost A4 sized device is very useful. The 12.9 also serves very well as a second screen for my MBP whereas the 10.5 is just to small (it’s a 15 inch MBP).

I'll be going for the smaller one (I'd go for a ~9 mini if they had the option!) but if the leaked sizes are right the 12" will be almost perfectly Letter sized. That would be pretty compelling if I still did a lot with letter-sized documents. Meanwhile the smaller size will be the size of composition notebook. I think Apple may be pushing these more and more as paper replacements.

I don't understand why people are still doubting a 2018 release for these new iPads. They're pretty obviously imminent.

I was thinking this. While 30th is still more probable, the week before may have been ruled out too quickly.

That said, with the time difference, I think he’d struggle to make it, unless he left straight after the keynote which would be unlikely.
Unfortunately, 100% not going to happen.

Tim Cook's keynote address in Brussels is taking place at 10:10AM Central European Summer Time on October 24th, which equates to 1:10AM PDT on the 24th. That means, assuming a 13.5 hour flight and zero additional time for travel, prep, etc., he'd need to leave Apple HQ by 11:40AM on the 23rd...

An October 23rd keynote address would presumably last until at least 11:45AM, and that's before the hands-on session.
