I’ve been saying an early to mid-November event is more likely, due to all that’s going on with Apple this month. If the event were to be on the 30th or 31st, invites would go out this Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. If we don’t see invites then, my prediction seems more likely.

I'm still trying to hold out hope that we will see an event on the 30th or 31st. Not ideal by any means, but it's better than nothing. But yeah, my optimism is dwindling fast. Looking more and more like I'll have to settle for a current generation 12.9 to replace my 9.7 come early November. No way am I waiting til friggin' March to replace it.

Invites for October events have always been 7-8 days prior to the event taking place. For some reason they don't send them out in advance like iPhone events and WWDC.

Oh okay, interesting.

In the latest iOS update they’ve mentioned “2018ipadfall” so I think it’s pretty certain it’ll come out this fall. October 30 or 31 is seeming more likely to me, as is November. I wouldn’t be surprised if they do a same-day announcment/launch. I think they did that for the 10.5 release? Someone can check me on that. I also have a 9.7 Pro that I’m considering upgrading. I personally love it, I don’t have a huge urgency to upgrade.

Since Adobe is really promoting iPad apps this week at Max and Phil made an appearance - I have a feeling will see new iPad Pros in the next couple of weeks. The marketing campaign has started!

What is this “Phil appearance” I hear people speaking of?

Yes, and we add with the beta ios12.1 code "ipadfall2018", since every leak in code started with last year iphoneX turn out to be true...i still think 99% is happening

Yeah, that and the other rumors and such that have surfaced lately are the main reason why I'm a little hopeful there will be an event this month still. There's just too much stuff so far that indicate it'll be sooner rather than later...but to be honest I was really hoping that we would have notification of the event happening by now. Getting bummed out that nothing has materialized yet on that front.

Timmy Boy is gonna be in Brussels in and around 28th so it cannot happen in his absence so some experts are saying 30th Oct seems like a possible likelyhood.

It may just be that they are holding back as long as possible due to AirPower. If they are in the verge of having it completed and fit for purpose, they may delay any event for a few weeks so that they could include it in the agenda. Just a wild guess though o_O

They already announced that, though. They don’t really need an event to launch it, and it also doesn’t have anything to do with iPad. I think they’re hoping we forgot about AirPower, it’s been plagued with issues and who knows if it’ll ever be released.

I don't see this as the reason they are dragging their feet. They already announced the AirPower...over a year ago. It's overdue by almost a year now already. So I can't see them holding off on a product release event for something that has already been announced and isn't really related to anything else that is rumored to be announced at this event that we all are speculating about.

The only thing related would be version 2 of AirPods. But surely those things will have an independent way of charging (wireless or otherwise). No way will they require the only way to charge them is by using the AirPower.

They can easily have Monday the event and 2 days until the Tim speech
So there are still hopes for today invitations for a next week event that can be only Monday 22th

technically Apple can launch without an event if they want. but they tend to watch media coverage. and traveling on a weekend is an expense many of the sites they like to have providing that coverage won't bear. thus why tuesday is the first day they tend to have events

Why in Brussels the 28th? His keynote address in Brussels is the morning of the 24th.

and who says he couldn't FaceTime in or such. I mean there's no law that Tim must do the keynote and he must be on a stage in Cali to do it. Apple can do whatever they want.

It's either the end of October, or some time in November, for sure.

I kind of regret selling my 10.5" iPad Pro a month ago as not having it has been a letdown. It was my go to device for pretty much everything (aside from working) and I sold it only because of the hype of the next gen Pros coming out. I didn't sell it because I had a problem with it, no, none at all.

Seriously if the 2018 Pros are too expensive, or have some dumb design decision that Apple always like to implement, then I'm just going to settle on the 2017.

Seeing as Phil was there for the Adobe announcement, I think that there’s a slim chance he could head up a keynote next week whilst Tim is in Brussels. Unlikely, but I wouldn’t rule it out as a possibility.

Either way, we don’t have long to wait until we’ll know for sure (invites either this week or next).

tim barely does anything at the keynotes but hype their sales numbers and play host to the others doing the heavy lifting. so him not being on stage wouldn't really be that different.

as for dates. this week is the pre orders and next week is the launch of the Xr so I would say at the earliest the announcement would be next week with the event the week after. but i suspect more like a week later for both. with the launch anywhere from the next week (with perhaps no pre orders) or the weekend after black friday. with hopefully the power pad, improved Pencil and Keyboard and the airpods with the wireless power option also included.

Sure. Physically possible, but not going to happen.

November 9th for a 16th release, I don't think it'll be October. Too close to the XR release and earnings call, but it'll be before Christmas.

people have said that about all kinds of apple rumors and they were wrong. with Apple anything can happen at any time. it just takes them wanting it that way
Well, sure, but them wanting to host a Special Event without the CEO and de facto showrunner instead of just waiting a week isn’t within the realm of what I consider to be plausible.
