well the 12.9 ipad pro 256GB was only what, 1100 on cellular? they aren't priced like phones really.

Nothing personal, but only $1100?!? They are priced like phones and some Macs now.

Way too much for any iPad and yeah I paid that much and more for a WiFi only 12.9 2nd gen with the ASK and AC, neither of which worked for me.

It will be more expensive than last year, regardless of what they do.

Will never pay that much for iPad ever again, now a Mac that would serve me for years? $1100 is reasonable for a stock model.

By ONLY I’m talking compared to the iPhone. For my needs the pro can do more Than a MacBook Pro as I can use data on the go with it and fills my working and interests needs.

It’s very expensive but so is my max...for high tier tech this is what you have to pay these days.

Paying £1,100 for the new pro would be £50 more expensive than last years. Be annoying if it’s anymore than that.

I think the Pro 10.5 at full price is already too expensive, especially when compared with the minor advantages over the $299 2018 iPad.

As for longevity, the 2020 iPad will likely be as fast if not faster than the 10.5 pro and by then may have incorporated thinner bezels. So you are financially better off buying 2 iPads over 4 years than 1 iPad Pro.

I think the Pro only becomes reasonable when there is a significant discount, at least $200 off to make it worth considering.

I agree. I switched to an iPad Pro and iPhone only and it meets my computing needs perfectly. I love the simplicity of it all to be honest.

I accept that its not for everyone but you’d be suprised what an iPad Pro with a ASK and Citrix Mouse can do these days.

It’s a pretty powerful device in terms of processing power, but iOS still has a few annoying limitations.

The biggest one for me is you can’t open multiple PDFs or Word Docs in the same app side by side. Yes there is a work around by using 2 different PDF readers, but I like PDF expert and paid for it. I shouldn’t have to compromise and open a second PDF in an app that doesn’t work as well for me.

If you get your money’s worth from iPads (and it sounds like you do), great. I haven’t, which is why I balked at the mention of ‘only £1100’.

I am not sure if OLED is a must-have. How good is it for image manipulation, editing etc - just;poking nice would not work for the folks who want to edit content and adjust colours etc.
It’s probably awesome for content consumption but the iPad Pro has to serve more purpose than that.
OLED would mean no more ProMotion and no more buttery smooth input. Not gonna happen.

iPad Pro is worth it if you use it for travel or as a backup device for work, etc. There’s no substitute for the ASK. ProMotion would also be hard to give up, and the bigger display.

Some guy suggested in another thread that he would happily pay 3-4x more for his MacBooks because they are a work tool.

Some people...

LG's OLED TV's can do 120hz so it isn't a limitation of the technology. I think if iPads go OLED they will probably use the LG white-OLED (RGBW) technology instead of the Samsung/pentile AMOLED. That said, I don't think they'll go OLED this year. If LG was building the facilities to produce screens that size we would have heard something by now.

Has there ever been a 120Hz OLED display at the iPad’s size though? I’m not sure it’s currently possible. All I know is the scrolling on my XS is jittery as **** compared to my old 8 Plus. The worst thing about the new phones is their OLEDs, IMO.

Agreed - 256gb 12.9 started at $1029, but was bumped to $1079 within 90 days. I bought mine through Verizon a week before the price bump - one of the few discounts I got from Apple :)

I doubt that they would go much higher than the existing price unless they were changing the screen technology - shrinking bezels surrounding an equivalent LCD doesn't sound like a price bump. Hell, they are using less aluminum if they are still only going to be at 12.9" - maybe back to $1029.00. OK, I doubt that.

That is not true 120 hz on that lg,for now on the market we don’t have but only 90hz true oled

For the “Pro” customer I would expect them to sky rocket in price. Many customers will hold onto the iPads for years, Apple must charge more to make as much $$$ as possible. That and if people are willing to pay $1300 for a phone we can assume the price of a premium iPad will be going up.

I would be absolutely shocked if the new iPad Pro were cheaper than the current model as some suggest.

Given the current iPhone pricing, I think at best we can hope for is that the price stays the same.

They raised the price from iPhone 8 to iPhone XR by $50 and all they did was shrink bezels and add Face ID, just like the rumors for the upcoming iPad Pro. So I bet we’ll see a $50 price increase as well.

Going by recent trends I’d be very surprised if the redesign didn’t bring a price bump with it - hopefully they might go to 128GB base storage to soften the blow if it’s a significant increase though?

That was kind of the point of my last sentence. There is no evidence that LG is capable of producing OLEDs that size. I'm not an expert at the manufacture of OLED screens so perhaps it is easier to downsize than I've been lead to believe.

As far as technically feasible, why not? If it can be done at a larger size. Yes, as far as I know Samsung/pentile AMOLED screens don't run at 120Hz yet, so perhaps there is a limitation there. But if they used the RGBW/While OLED tech from LG I don't see why it couldn't happen technically—just that they may not be set up to manufacturer them at scale.

I feel like the 11" Pro is going to start at a slightly higher price of $699 vs the current $649. The new 12.9" will probably still start at $799 though.

There is no way the price doesn't increase. There hasn't been a single Apple product in the last few years that added features without increasing the price. I expect $799/$899 for 11"/12.9".

I have this crazy feeling that the new iPad Pro will be at least one giant step closer to being a more useful PRO tool. I am betting my dad $.25 that it will have mouse support of some type. I hope I am right. I need the money!

Will the sizes stay the same?
Consensus currently seems to be 11.0” and 12.9” so the larger size stays approx the same (likely with rounded corners :/) and the 10.5” gains half an inch diagonal. Aspect ratio is unconfirmed but no one has suggested it will change.
