It has never been the case with iPad Pros that the price is proportional to the iPhone with regard to screen size. If that were the case, then the (current) iPad Pro 12.9 would start at $2,221 because the screen is 2.22 x larger than the iPhone XS and $999 (Xs starting price) x 2.2 = appx $2,220 which would be insanity.
I am sorry you did not get my joke.

I'm guessing this €-Prices:

I think they will reuse the "old" 10.5 Case someday (same A12X, a bit like the iPhone XR)

You lot have wasted your time. It's the same price. :D

Similar to before the Xs was unveiled people were speaking in panic as if they want prices to increase.

Those starting prices are insane
They are not.

The Pro range whether Mac or iPad is not a necessity for your average Joe who will just use it for light media consumption.

The normal iPad is priced very accessible and enough for most users who don't play graphically intensive games, edit huge files or multi-task on the go.

The 10.5 Pro starting price was originally $599, so yes it is insane. I remember when new iPads stayed the same price and the old ones were discounted $100.

Can't say I'm surprised by the increase. Each new generation of products has had a price increase and not just Apple. All manufacturers of electronic gadgets are driving prices up, and now all of a sudden a $600 phone is considered cheap like the new One+ 6T.

This is outta hand already. 799 for a 64gb iPad Pro. 999 for a 64gb pro... now with USB-c, great now Two different adapters for the iPhone and iPad.

And two different sets of headphones if you don’t use wireless

Wait, they did away with the headphone jack on the new iPad Pro?

Edit - so now there are 3 microphones instead of the headphone jack. Nice.

The prices are ridiculous, $1000 for 64GB. That’s actually twice more expencive than the iPad air 2 I’m tyoung on. But, on the other hand, the Air2 is still running very well and I can spend the saved money on something else. The new high-tier mac mini looks good.

Seems very much like an 'edge' use case to me (and don't forget the cost of the USB-C to lightning cable). Can't see a lot of people doing that. Buy a $50 power bank and you can charge both devices.

Would have thought if you’re carrying around a big iPad you would be carrying cables around anyway. Likely how apple sees it

I’m sure USB C will come to iPhones next year
