There is no such thing. I had three G0ND devices with various defects. All late builds. Some other posted posted earlier saying his replacement G0ND was perfect according to him. In essence there is no good or bad serial number. It’s a myth. Same as good or bad display serials. Myth.
It's not a question of good or bad serial number, nor of tracking all the potential defects; this is very specific to the current issue, that is, the single flash Apple logo on boot up. The current common point is that they were all purchased recently; all I'm trying to do is determine whether the serial number is a common trait, for this specific problem. Apple Support asked for the serial numbers as well, so there is perhaps some value to this detail.

Out of curiosity, do you know the serial numbers of the problematic iPhones? Just the first two or three digits will help narrow down where these were produced, which could give a clue of where the error originated. All three iPhones that I returned started with F17.
Mine were both F2L.

Well good luck in your pursuit.
You’re requesting serial numbers and I just mentioned it doesn’t mean thing. My current F2LD seems good, but others ain’t. Same as my past ones which were G0ND that I mentioned were all duff

I rebooted my week old iPhone 12 pro max for the first time and I did see an Apple logo appear and disappear quickly, which looked brighter. the next one appeared, looked normal, and no fluctuation in brightness. the password page came immediately after. Only thought I had was it booted up quicker than any previous phone I had like the 11 pro max.

I ‘m not sure why this is a cause for alarm 🤷🏻‍♂️🙄

My F2LD exhibits the same behavior that the OP reported. What is not clear is if this is in fact an issue at all.

I'm alarmed because all three iPhones I had with this behavior had other issues; two of them would eventually not finish the boot procedure unless connected to power (not sure about one of them because I had it exchanged right away). Two of them would not set up properly from a wired backup, while a phone to phone transfer worked on the third one. Not wanting to play guinea pig with a fourth phone from the same batch, it's the Genius Bar themselves that suggested I get a refund and wait before getting a replacement.

Oh ok. My phone didn’t have any issues with completing boot procedure. Never mind

Indeed.

It may not be anything. But it’s just concerning because every iPhone ever made boots the same way. Why all of a sudden would certain phones change? And some have hardware issues along with it? There’s a thread on Apple’s forums as well, we’ll see what comes of this, if anything.

I have a Silver 12PM coming. It will be interesting to see if that phone also exhibits the same behavior as reported by the OP.

Mine does the same... got a new Blue iPhone 12 Pro Max 256 on Saturday, Jan 16th and it did this very same thing, so I had it replaced the very next day with another new one and did the exact same thing. My wife also got the new Blue iPhone 12 Pro Max but the 128 version. Hers works perfectly and boots like it should normally. So trying to understand what the issue is... I did hear from someone else that said they swapped out his phone 3 times and the third one worked fine... so that has me worried about this being a possible manufacturing problem. My issue with both phones had nothing to do with charging and I do not even own a Magsafe. My second replacement 12 Pro Max booted up normally when turned on directly out of the box but once I logged into my Apple account and they synced it did the same thing. My Verizon dealer still had my first phone which had been formatted and reset and took it out of the box and it now booted up fine.

Verizon spoke with Apple and they said it might have something to do with my icloud backup and suggested I may have to create a new icloud account... but I said what?? and loose everything I have... contacts, apps, configurations.

Not happy with this... if Apple cannot alleviate this issue then they need to offer us a 2 year applecare warranty to protect the investment we have made.

I would doubt it’s linked to iCloud; when I tested the affected phones, I also tried setting them up entirely new, without even logging into any account, the logo flash remained.

I am curious though about your previous phone booting up normally after having been reset at Verizon. I’ve not seen that; once the logo flash appears, it remained even through full restores or updates. Perhaps there’s a link to the charge level on the battery? Either way, still waiting for an Apple response.

I did not see that good boot from this first new phone boot up normally but was what my Verizon dealer said it did on Monday... but I did notice this 2nd new phone turn on "out of the box" during setup, boot just fine but then I tried rebooting it after my backup finished before I even put it on a charger (still had about 50% battery) and it had the issue right away again. My wifes Blue iPhone Pro Max 128 which we also got on Saturday is still working great though without any issues. Unfortunately I have more date than 128 so that smaller phone is not an option... From everyone's comments though it seems it's only occurring to 256 and 512 units. My phone though seems to function perfectly... outside of the fact that both my wifes phone and my phone do not seem to get as great of cellular antenna strength as our old iPhone Xs did.

If nothing gets fixed my next Saturday I might be forced to try a 12 Pro even though I would like the better camera.

My two Pro Max phones that did this were 128gb and serial F2LD and F2LF. From this thread it looks like affected phones are F2, curious what others' serials are.

Thought I was the only one having this issue, was looking for unboxing videos on YouTube to see if I could find a video of a phone booting up, no luck. Then I accidentally stumbled upon this thread when looking for the max brightness issue on my new iPhone 12 Pro Max iOS 14.3.

I'm experiencing the same issue on my phone, Apple logo flashes for a quick second then begins to boot. Wait for next update?

My serial starts with G0ND (0 = zero). It may not be serial related.

I’m glad I found this page. I’ve noticed this happening with my new iPhone 12 Pro Max 256 silver. BUT it only happens during hard reset and the reset doesn’t complete. I press up volume, down volume, then hold the power button. I get a bright flash for a fraction of a second, then nothing. It never finishes. I have to let go & press again. I may get another bright flash & it still doesn’t start up. After a few tries it will start up again. Have been debating sending it back. After reading comments here, I’ve decided to do so. It is serial #G0ND (g,zero,n,d)..

I had something similar on the three phones I tested; eventually, the reset procedure didn't work, either.

So far, there's a few F serial numbers, and three G0 that I know of that exhibited this behavior. Still waiting on some kind of formal acknowledgement from Apple.

My latest Pro Max serial G0 started doing this again today. Also experience 20% battery drain overnight with low power mode enabled. Strange issues afoot...not going to return / exchange any more because it looks like it is what it is. Hopefully the next iOS update will fix the battery drain.

Just got a Blue 12 Pro Max earlier this week and have the white Apple logo flashing once quickly on boot up also. It’s 128 GB with a “G6” serial. Everything else with the phone seems to be fine. Hopefully it is a software issue.

I’m returning it and receiving a replacement in the next few days. The last time I tried, it took several tries to get it to start up again.

If the phone boots up then it's not a big deal?
I would say that if there aren’t any issues with how the phone functions, then it isn’t a big deal. My wife’s iPhone 12 Pro Max exhibits the behavior reported by the OP but has no functional issues.

Mine has gotten worse each day. Today it took 4 tries of this logo flash then nothing loop for it to actually start up. Not keeping something that won’t power up properly.
