I have also the same issue, it seems that the first batch November has no problem, and the December has problems.... My officemates who purchased during the preorder and now have iOS 14.3 have no issues, but December batch has this flashes problems
What do you think is the problem? I am now worry for this long term effectThere is no such thing. I had three G0ND devices with various defects. All late builds. Some other posted posted earlier saying his replacement G0ND was perfect according to him. In essence there is no good or bad serial number. It’s a myth. Same as good or bad display serials. Myth.
My 12 Pro Max (brand new) started exhibiting this issue after restoring from backup. So far no functionality issues but I've only begun using the phone for a few days. I'll have to see after a few weeks use.I would say that if there aren’t any issues with how the phone functions, then it isn’t a big deal. My wife’s iPhone 12 Pro Max exhibits the behavior reported by the OP but has no functional issues.
How are you so sure November made phones have no issues? and how do you tell which phone is made on which month? The November Batches have no issues. But some December batches experience this unusual thing. I am based in Bangkok Thailand.
Quality control and down time for factory machine calibration and maintenance. What do you think is the problem? I am now worry for this long term effect
I want to update my post. I received a replacement phone today, exact same model. It started fine without the strange flash which was there from the first start on my previous phone. To note, serial number starts with #G6TD... on the new phone. Hope it stays good. Will update if anything changes. ?I’m glad I found this page. I’ve noticed this happening with my new iPhone 12 Pro Max 256 silver. BUT it only happens during hard reset and the reset doesn’t complete. I press up volume, down volume, then hold the power button. I get a bright flash for a fraction of a second, then nothing. It never finishes. I have to let go & press again. I may get another bright flash & it still doesn’t start up. After a few tries it will start up again. Have been debating sending it back. After reading comments here, I’ve decided to do so. It is serial #G0ND (g,zero,n,d)..
Me too, same situation. I didn’t know it was an issue and thought it was a glitch boot up but when I tried restart my phone after a TikTok bug (no videos where playing even after force closing the app) the Apple logo flashed. Then black for a second, and everything was fine. Didn’t try again since. No magesafe charger just a QI one. It’s a G0N 12 PM week 52I received my 4th 12PM today. My previous one was week 51. This is week 52. Same factory for both (F2). The previous one didn't have this issue, but the new one does.
Exactly. I never used mag safe either. And with each reboot it was harder to get it to come back up. It would flash, then stay black. After it took 4 tries two days ago (I’d given it almost 2 wks), I called to exchange. I wasn’t going to waste more time on something that costs over $1k & obviously has a defect. For those mentioning magsafe: This has nothing to do with that. I don’t have magsafe or any other wireless charger. The phone hadn’t even been charged before it happened. It happened with the very first setup and the first restart. It was fine during the initial boot up, but when restarting, it happened.
Not sure what week 52 is? Mine was picked for shipping from AT&T on 01/11/2021 if that helps.I'm just wondering. Are all these week 52 phones with 14.3 preinstalled? I've talked to support and mentioned this problem. He will keep me updated and I've gotten a direct support connection for the next 7 days.
What is the fifth letter/number in the serial? X?Not sure what week 52 is? Mine was picked for shipping from AT&T on 01/11/2021 if that helps.
G0NDW... so not x.What is the fifth letter/number in the serial? X?
There's many more reports on the Apple Community forums of this issue now; it's far from made up. What's not clear is how it affects functionality. For some it seems to just be on boot up, where you see the logo flash then the phone works normally. For others, it affects whether the phone switches on at all, or if it even be reset, so it's not just the logo flash in isolation.I’m not trying to be funny and sometimes types words don’t come across as intended. But why does this made up issue matter ? I think we have other pressing issues to worry about, like raised blacks, scratched frames out of the box and green tints. I’m giving True Tone aka wanna be Nightshift a free ride here ???
Ok, thanks for the clarification. Appreciate it.There's many more reports on the Apple Community forums of this issue now; it's far from made up. What's not clear is how it affects functionality. I am sure it is a software issue. Also no one updates to 14.4, I have never seen such trashy battery life.Definitely seems to be an issue with any phones that shipped with iOS 14.3
