I am surprised only a handful of users experience this issue. I just got my 12 pro 128GB model and I restored it using the phone to phone and I have this issue.

Lets hope that 14.5 full release will fix it. Sub for more info.

Good to hear that 14.5 fixes it. It was definitely a 14.3 issue. I just received a 12 Mini that came with 14.1 and updated straight to 14.4 and doesn’t exhibit the issue.

With the reports of 14.5 beta addressing the issue, I picked up a new iPhone 12 Pro yesterday. Was ok out of the box with 14.3, immediately showed that an update to 14.4 was available. Glitch appeared after charging the phone for a short while. Installed 14.5 beta, glitch and the missing splash screens were resolved.

Rolled back to 14.4, tried turning the phone off and back on and reset it a few times, it seems ok for now.

Funny you mention this. I was about to create a post for this and saw your post. I have the exact same behavior on my new 12 Pro Max received yesterday. The Apple logo is blindingly bright upon boot up and then vanishes, and then the phone starts up as normal. Have you contacted Apple about this?

*Edit- called Apple support and they are not helpful. The explanation is that OLED gets close to max brightness on boot up. Told him every iPhone I've ever had since the 4 has not done this, including my regular 12 Pro. Either the rep is just dumb or refuses to listen, or a combination.

I tried doing a DFU restore and the issue still exists. I haven't really seen anyone mention this issue anywhere by Googling, etc., this is such a random thing. I hope that there isn't a power surge at boot up causing the brightness to be at max, which could damage the phone.

Don't worry, we will know about this when they start a program.

Update: I’m on my 2nd iPhone 12 Pro Max. I’ve only done a hard reset 3 times since getting it a few weeks ago. I noticed just now that it does the quick flash and goes dark but then comes up normal shortly afterwards. I’m still on 14.4. Good to know it will be fully resolved with 14.5. ?

Did you try to update to iOS 14.5 and check the issue?
