While protection and longevity are important I believe that when it comes to these type of cases other big factors are usability and presentation. I've actually had a couple of drops in the Apple leather and it has held up well. Additionally, I am still using both the Apple leather case and the Vaja case and they have aged very well. It was a close battle but in the end presentation and usability trumped the toughness of the leather for me, especially when we're talking about a case that is not primarily purchased for protection IMHO. We're not talking Otterbox or Lifeproof here after all. In the end it's just opinions though.
BTW, thanks for checking out the video and for the feedback.
As far as presentation, Vaja looks tacky. I had a Vaja case back in 09, so maybe they've got better leather. And yes, these cases are a mix between looks & protection. If you weren't interested in protection, you would be naked. I think the Nomad comes out on top protection wise. Fit & finish goes to the Apple case, but the Nomad's leather will patina and look better. It's really a toss up between it and the apple case, but to me the edge goes to the Nomad just mainly for protection sake. My exposed iPhone 6 got scratched up at the bottom due to the lack of protection there.
