While protection and longevity are important I believe that when it comes to these type of cases other big factors are usability and presentation. I've actually had a couple of drops in the Apple leather and it has held up well. Additionally, I am still using both the Apple leather case and the Vaja case and they have aged very well. It was a close battle but in the end presentation and usability trumped the toughness of the leather for me, especially when we're talking about a case that is not primarily purchased for protection IMHO. We're not talking Otterbox or Lifeproof here after all. In the end it's just opinions though. :)

BTW, thanks for checking out the video and for the feedback.

As far as presentation, Vaja looks tacky. I had a Vaja case back in 09, so maybe they've got better leather. And yes, these cases are a mix between looks & protection. If you weren't interested in protection, you would be naked. I think the Nomad comes out on top protection wise. Fit & finish goes to the Apple case, but the Nomad's leather will patina and look better. It's really a toss up between it and the apple case, but to me the edge goes to the Nomad just mainly for protection sake. My exposed iPhone 6 got scratched up at the bottom due to the lack of protection there.

The Apple 7 leather cases are all too slippery now. Can anything be done to make them grippy like the 6 cases?

Coconut oil application makes them grippier. A little goes a long way. Just plain old coconut oil you can get at any grocery store.

I've got the Apple leather cases in black and saddle brown and for some reason the saddle brown smells and feels a lot better than the black? No idea why?

Any news on a patina'd berry?
It's only been a week! Lol

I picked up the Berry color for 7+, but it's much too light for my tastes. Other than just natural wear, is there a consensus best way to darken it to more of a maroon?

I was in an Apple Store this morning looking at cases. I did not see any berry for iPhone 7 or Plus.

Highly recommend checking out the new Sapphire color, imo best color yet. Also, the leather feel softer than my previous navy color one.

I did look at that one but I want the berry, a gold and a silver case for my jet black 7. I think each of those would like great.

Well I went to a different Apple Store which is not any further from me (albeit in a different direction) and I got the leather berry. It looks boss.

The Apple guy said he thought the sapphire would look really good too and I tried that one on my jet black as well. He was right so guess what I did? :)

They both not only look great, they feel great. A win win I tell ya! :)

I agree, the sapphire looks amazing and I wanted a red case and the product red looks too bright for my taste. I can't for my berry to arrive tomorrow.

I also saw the Sapphire colour on the Apple iOS Store App - isn't the Sapphire colour, equivalent to the Ocean Blue colour of the silicone case though, as I see no Ocean Blue in leather?!

Here are some pics of the Sapphire, it's a different shade of blue than the Silicone Ocean Blue. Note, color looks a bit different (brighter) in person. It kind of reminds me of the BMW "Laguna Seca Blue" if you've ever seen one of those in person :)

The leather cases look nice, but I can't justify paying $50 for a 10 cent piece of leather wrapped around a piece of cardboard or plastic.

The new Saddle brown for iPhone SE (rose gold). I've been wanting this colour since I first saw the larger iPhone cases.

This looks great when reading iBooks with the yellow colour scheme.

So what do you think of the berry case?

So I got it, I honestly hated it, it to me, looked pink, like a dark pink with a hint of red in it. So I returned it yesterday and got the product red leather case to match my iPad, it's actually slightly darker than the leather smart case that is on my iPad.

Some of the cases I have seen are too dark, more like a deep wine color that I feel would not look good.

The product red leather appears too light for my taste, this berry color flows nicely as far as color blending with my iPhone 7. I have showed friends and they also think it looks great.

The berry is definitely smoother than the other colors. I've had it for a week now and the leather is still super slippery smooth.
