i agree i think im going to return the apple leather case and try the Nomad leather case instead because i got the iPhone 7 Plus and the apple leather case is very slippery, i remember when i tried the Nomad case at best buy yesterday it had more grip and had less of a slippery type of leather

My Sea Blue leather case is set to ship this week for my 7 Plus. I looked online and it looks like no stores even have the sea blue for pickup. Has anyone actually seen this case in person yet? It looks like it may have just not been ready at launch.

Im returning the grey leather case for my 7+. It creaks on thr bottom side when i grab the phone.

I switched from using the leather cases to silicone last year and picked up another this year. I love how the leather cases look aesthetically but quality has been questionable, coupled with the slickness -- I've been happy with the Silicone cases despite the lint.

I personally can't use the silicone cases due to how cheap they feel compared to the leather, it's really difficult to use any other type of case once you've used the apple learher case they set the bar really high as far as quality goes

Apple leather cases lose that slickness after time whereas their silicone case have a tendency to get tacky as the material ages. Very similar to how many european auto maker's soft touch surfaces on buttons and knobs turn tacky and oily over time.

How do you clean the Apple leather case? Is it OK with a wet cloth?

I don't think water is a good idea. A little leather cleaner/conditioner should be ok. But any kind of cleaning will remove the dye so be careful how much you clean it.

I tried HoosBruce's coffee staining and I love it. I taped the inside off with painter's tape to preserve the felt then covered it in moist coffee grounds. I let it sit for about 4 hours and then gently brushed off the grounds with a paper towel and a soft toothbrush. It's currently drying, so it may dry a bit lighter. I'm considering getting some leather conditioner to rub in after it dries. Thanks again for the direction HoosBruce!

This looks great! Does the phone smell like coffee after? I'd think that would be a difficult smell to get out. And to clarify, you lined the entire inside felt with painter's tape?

In addition, ow does everyone who has the case feel the buttons response? That was always my issue with the previous leather cases.

I'm not a fan of the new buttons. They stick out too much and are too easy to be accidentally pushed.

I suppose this is a good place to post this.

I've had a couple of Apple's leather cases over the years and and they have all been great. The problem, in my mind, is that they don't really look like leather should.

The best leather, IMO, should have a well used look to it. Like a good old baseball glove, cowboy boots or motorcycle jacket.

Since an iPhone case typically isn't around for 10years of outdoor weather use like a motorcycle jacket. I've resorted to staining and aging my last couple of Apple leather goods.

Here is my 7+ Saddle Brown case that arrived yesterday (with a water drop on it)

Even though it's the darker brown and will eventually take on a broken in look.

I wanted to give it a head start.

I
Buried the case in some moist espresso grounds over night. Onnthe right is an iPad Air 2 cas I did a couple of years ago.(looks much darker in the picture than in person but gives an idea of the difference.

One night later.

I waxed it and rubbed out some of the excess stain to get a worn look. Which will only get better with age now.

What products did you use specifically? Do you have previous pics of phone cases you have done this to after some time goes by? I'm thinking about doing this to my case this time as my last red case collected ink stains easily at work. I also love the look and feel of age the leather.

I've used a black Apple leather case on every phone since the 5s and now on the 7Plus. I love it. It feels wonderful and becomes less slippery within hours of use. The one thing I never liked about the leather cases were the buttons. Apple got it right this time. The new buttons are a joy to press and they look great. Also the black leather looks really great with the Matte Black. Much closer in color than the JB.

Does the black leather look better over time? Similar to the post above about the brown case

I got the black Apple leather case on my matte black iPhone 7 plus right now as well it looks really good the only concern I have is if I was to drop the phone on the ground and the big bottom opening of the Apple leather case, do you think the nomad black leather case is a good alternative? It appears to protect the bottom of the phone as well

No one has them in store for 2 more weeks. Mine should also be shipping at some point this week. Really don't get why this is the only color that wasn't in stock the minute the preorders went up.

What do you guys think is the sharpest colour for the Rose Gold Plus model? I'm thinking Midnight blue as I liked one of the pics in this thread, but not other sure what colours would go well?

Does the product red age well? I'm a bit worried about it getting dirty/worn looking easily vs the other colours.

The black leather is one of the only colors that does not show aging like the lighter colors do. A friend has the midnight blue and even that turned black with time.

This! I've had the midnight blue on my 6s since the launch last year and you can't even tell now. Just looks black!

Cool. That's not a bad thing. Changes things up without having to buy a new case :) I exchanged black for midnight blue for my black iPhone 7.

I absolutely love my official apple leather case that i have installed on my matte black iphone 7 plus but im afraid its going to be returned today because the exposed bottom is a deal breaker because if i was to drop the phone in the street on concrete by accident the entire bottom of my phone is susceptible to get dented/scratched, it happened to my with the 6S and i dont want it to happen to me with my new iPhone 7 Plus considering the 7 Plus is also heavier

im going to best buy to get that Nomad leather case and give that a go as that seems to be the best alternative to the apple case and it protects the bottom as well,
