They did add a $179 EDU rebate on the iPod's when purchased with most Mac systems. :D

I hear a 60GB iPod calling my name for $190 after rebate.
Only at the Apple Store US as far as I can make out...? :mad:

What a crockload of GARBAGE.
APPLE TAKE HEED..
Even the most staunch supporters are getting weary, You better release some updates to your AFFORDABLE portable line fast because this is getting absolutely insane. I mean ANOTHER ipod update, which actually doesn't really change anything except remove some of the better options in the line.
UNBELIEVABLE

oops Apple did it again

..and I remember all the modest speculation of ipods being wifi, bluetooth, video, big HD sizes, lower prices but Apple once again sells us the idea again.... 'its new but the same'

so how come it says new next to the ibooks :rolleyes:

That's on the Australian site only and it's been saying that for months! I don't think it's been changed since the last update.

Oh well .... I was rather hoping for a more interesting surprise.

iBook would have done me. :(
Pods pods pods, they will go the way of the walkman i assure you but i dont get the interst in ibooks, a new ibook would have what a 100 mhz increase? why wait for that? A G4 is a G4 is a G4

this is very funny iPods only how poor

if they leave it any longer then them powerbooks will be up for an update too ! what is it now 40 days? till next update cycle

that's what i was thinking about ;)

That's nice.

All of you folks who are cursing Apple for not releasing iBooks right now, understand, that just because you need one, not everyone does. They *will* update the iBook, just not today... or tomorrow. Has it been a long time since a revision change? Yes. But Apple is under no contract with you to deliver a new iBook on your schedule. :p

maybe I'm blind but on the belgian & us store, there is no new sign next to the iBooks...

and they do strange things with the iPods...

iPod 20/40GB -> 20GB only
iPod Photo 40/60GB (not sure if there was a 20GB) -> 30/60GB

and now 'photo' has dissapeared and iPod 20/60GB... hmmz... were the iPod photo's not selling well and had they an overstock of all those components... thus changeing to one line up all photo but lose the name...???
I think ditching the 40GB iPod was the first attempt to make people buy a Photo instead...

My dad has ordered an iBook via a work scheme and he got an email saying the delivery has been put back by 3 weeks due to "a change in stratergy by Apple Computers". What the hell does that mean?

Well, they're now all color-screen and with a longer battery life. So you can kind of think of it as a 4.5G iPod that was phased in while the 4Gs were still available.

"we've decided not to sell computers anymore" :p

Education store has back to school deals....Buy PB, iMac, iBook, Powermac and get a free iPod mini.
Yes I'm bummed... that would have fit my wants perfectly. But since I did the "Go Save" promo only $100. Man... but I would love a new iPod mini.

eh we all knew that colour screens down the iPod line was coming. Happened a little sooner than I expected but hey, it's a good thing over all. As for no iBook updates I'm thinking with the intel switch the next year or so is gonna be SLOW for hardware updates on the PPC front.

They do have a duty to their shareholders to make a profit - which, despite the ipod, means making computers people want to buy. Either that or burn the cash pile until the Intel macs arrive because a lot of the line is looking really tired right now.

Dont know if anyone noticed, but the U2 iPods also got a color display.

Whats it mean for an iPod to be PodCasting ready? Arent they all?

Personally after my old iPod died when it took a 1 foot fall onto a carpet, I won't be buying any more iPod's until they have a decent shock protection system built in (a bit like the new Sony player). It won't be fool proof I know, but another line of defense for my hundreds of dollars investment would be nice...

Oh and a changeable battery (ala the sony as well)...

I dont ask for much...

.....just noticed they dropped the price of the 1Gb shuffle... down to £88 in the UK.
