I'd rather pin my hopes on tomorrow, and if it does come out today it's a pleasant surprise. :D

I have set my expectations for the 31st. A guy a few post back said the last few iTunes releases have been on a wednesday so we will have to see. :)

since we're all here waiting... let's discuss a bit.

once iTunes 11 is actually available; after you have your hysterical reactions and running around house waiting for the download to finish, what will be the first thing you try in the new version?

personally, I can't wait to see how the Radio section looks like, and the device syncing page. Those are the only features of iTunes that we didn't get to see in the demo in September.

First thing I want to check out is how the folder album art view handles more than 18 tracks on an album. If you look at the keynote there are 6 tracks in each column, with room for three columns. I imagine it will just give a slider for more, but it has me curious.

If I had to pick a second thing, I imagine I'll be clicking on about 1,000 different album art to see what color it chose as the background color.

Exactly. Not sure if its going to choose a color for every album though. Just look at that Maroon 5 album at the itunes page screenshots.

If it fixes homesharing :(

Looking forward to the launch, whenever it is. Will be nice to see album artwork properly integrated. All a bit half-hearted in the current versions.

I do still hope they will sort out iTunes Match so that you can have more than 25,000 tracks. Amazon allow ten times that, so I see no reason why Apple can't too. Or at least let you select what to match.

when i first get iTunes 11, i will have already mae sure iv got a back up of the itunes library files (the files that organize and reference the files) so if itunes does anything wrong, i will revert back.

when i install itunes 11, i will check all my files are still there (13000 songs) by making sure the total song count matches.

thirdly, i will get a quick taste of what using it is like, so all the things im used to doing in itunes 10, i wil lsee how to do them equivalently in itunes 11.

lastly i will look out for new features while figuring out which old ones or old options have gone.

I certainly hope it is available soon and that it works well. I use iTunes everyday and think the mini player will work better for me than Alfred's mini player (which is good already).

The new view seems good as well, but I am hoping it is faster and more stable mainly.

Also, it would be nice in the future to have iTunes just for music and audio books, and iTunes U going the way of Podcasts on iOS. Keep it simple (and maybe faster as a result) and separate.

My Thunderbolt display just came, and my Mac Mini will be here until 31st of october, so I really hope iTunes 11 is ready then! Don't want to use it on my old MacBook Pro ... ;)

The first thing I'll do? Listening through my favorite albums to see if they sound any different in the new iTunes. :D

It's complete guesswork at this point but maybe they'll release it today to combat the Windows Phone 8 event press?

EDIT 2: And we're back.

Last night my AppleTV announced an update which then failed. Apple is tinkering with stuff ahead of the launch. Can't be far.

Does anyone know if iTunes 11 is going to support Snow Leopard? I'm stuck on SL on my old laptop and would be very happy if it did.
