Although this exercise is pointless, for discussion purposes let's analyze a few things:

1 - In 22 hours, it will be November 1 in China, their fastest growing market. The Chinese iTunes page says October.

2 - If Apple waits to release it tomorrow at 9am PST, it'll be November in China, they'll have missed their self imposed deadline. It'll be late in their most important growing market.

3 - In 6 hours, it'll be 5pm, the work day will be over in Cupertino. They wouldn't release it at the end of the workday because they need to monitor the worldwide downloads and manage any issues.

Considering all these facts, for the release not to be late, Apple will have to release iTunes 11 by around 14:00PST at the latest. It's almost lunch time now so my best guess would be that we'll have iTunes 11 within the next 2 hours.

Hold on to your seats fellas. :D

watch them release it on November 1st and say opps we meant coming in november.. and cook will send a letter of appology

Apple has been late releasing software before, they can miss deadlines.

Fingers crossed it will be hitting our macs soon, but they will release it when it's ready.

Also, any news on a windows version? Or is windows destined to the same fate as QuickTime?

hmmm apps not downloading on my iDevices right now but i guess that has nothing to do with iTunes on my Mac tho

From a developer stand point, this is why you normally shouldn't release anything other than "Coming Soon". Why?

1) You say, "Out in October" and now you have until the 31st to get it out. If you miss by 1 second, people will complain.

2) You go over a day or two to fix bugs, people complain.

3) You release it early in the month and if there is a bug (and there are) people complain that they didn't test it enough.

4) You release it on time, at the end of the month, people complain it was so late in the month. If there's a bug then obviously they don't know what they are doing.

Unless it is absolutely perfect and released at the beginning of the month specified, people are going to complain. Just say "Coming Soon" and then you're not under pressure to push it out to meet some arbitrary deadline. If a major bug shows up late in the testing, you can still fix it and get it out "Soon".

Shall we start an "iTunes 11 Sucks" thread now or wait until it is actually officially released?

i was thinking that too giving a deadline for any software release is bad idea. people expect the software to be out by that deadline and if it does not happen all hell breaks lose :(

Does anyone else think it'll come with a new logo?

iTunes seems to get an new icon far more often than any other Apple program. However, now that they are mimicking the iOS icon, they may just stick with the current one.

why is it so hard to just bring it out? seriously apple: when you show it at the keynote and tell us it's coming out the next month...they can't be still working on it

knowing :apple: they could be working on it till the very last minute.

or they are holding it back on purpose!

It is a source of revenue, to run a business you need to make sure your revenue stream is rock solid before releasing it to the public. Thus I'm sure that the primary coding is done they are just testing it like crazy. No matter what they do, bugs will show up and people will have problems. But the more testing they do now, the less likely that is to happen.

It's business; all about the money.

wait wasnt iTunes match supposed to be out by some certain month and that never happend? same fate for iTunes11?

There's probably a 99% chance that we get a new iTunes by tomorrow. Only question is if it'll be iTunes 11 or 10.7.1.

since that release was later in the day i guess they can release iTunes 11 anytime they feel like it.. could be oct 31 11:58 pm PST and they would say it made the deadline

If it doesn't drop by tomorrow, Apple is just going to be Apple...
