That's what I'm thinking, that they want to get the bugs out (or at least most of the bugs) so that way they don't receive more criticism like they did with Maps, iPhone 5, and iPad 4. I prefer a delay and little to no bugs, versus an earlier release with lots of bugs

Yeah, but if so they could at least tell people. This 'hiding' game they play sucks. I want the new iTunes ASAP cause I'm sick of the actual version and also iTunes Match keeps 'matching' tracks just as good as my old cellphone. That way I would wait without getting excited for nothing... tbh in the beginning of october i just looked for it once or twice. But as the last weeks came I started to search everyday, cause yeah, I really want this and they promised so...

But I'm just complaining cause I'm an anxious c*nt, cause y'know they can still release it on october and laugh at us. lol

what does that have to do with iTunes 11 when iOS 6 already has the revamped stores?

itunes is the program that needs to catch up

there needs to be support for the new devices in order to sync with iTunes and those two devices currently are not supported so if you go to plug them into iTunes 10 they wont be able to sync.

Same here. We need more consistency in the App icons between OSX and iOS.

you can find, or make icons and quite easily use them instead of any icons on the system.

for example, i hate the Messages icon, it looks half finished, and does not match up with the rest of the icons at all.

i found one i really liked that i felt went with the icons of OS X much better, originally it was blue, like messages, but i photoshopped it into a green matching color of imessage from iOS:

i wish photoshop could edit ICNS files.

i'd re do some other icons, and match the colours, i.e. the iTunes one like you mention, it would be really easy to make the itunes one purple, shouldnt be hard to make the note white either if wanted.

http://iconfactory.com/software/iconbuilder/

It cost money, but I'm fairly certain you can try it out for free by downloading it. I haven't checked if it's compatible with CS6 (I'm downloading it right now to see).

If you're serious about deigning icons, it's a great plugin.

EDIT: So unfortunately it isn't compatible with CS6, but if you're running CS2, CS3, or CS4 you should be set.

thanks, i have cs5.

i don't design icons, im sure i could do it well if i wanted to learn how. instead i just find icons by other people who love making icons, and sometimes i edit them, for some reason like the one above.

but if i could edit ICNS files in photoshop, i probably would match iOS up a bit with mac os, and experiment with tidbits like making itunes 11's note white like the mac app store etc.

the latest release in a day appears to be 6:58 pm so im going with that time otherwise not happening today :(

This looks a lot better than the blue version.

Having a musical note doesn't make much sense as an icon to begin with.

Yea, it doesn't now with all the types of media Apple now sells through iTunes. I guess their rationale in keeping the musical note is that it's still called iTunes. I know the name is iconic and has a long period of history, but before Google Play came out, I actually had thought that Apple should have used "iPlay" because of the broad selection of media.

Anyway, what icon would you suggest for the future of iTunes? A "play" button icon like Google perhaps?

That icon looks much better than the current OS X icon. Definitely a better match to the iOS version. Never understood why they went with blue instead of green on OS X? Aside from more consistency, it also would have added some nice color differentiation on the dock.

And while we're discussing icons, they should add that "warp" effect on the iTunes and App Store iOS icons to the OS X icons as well. Not a fan of that simple gradient in the background. :p

Sorry to be cheeky, but any change for a HiDPI (Retina) version?

The 30 pin connector was also iconic but things change and eventually iTunes will be renamed.

I think the play icon would be interesting. It has to convey 'media' instead of just music.

iPad Minis are already in the States. Some people should be receiving them tomorrow morning. Those people will be pretty mad if they aren't able to sync their new purchases the day they receive them. Gives me hope we'll see a new iTunes today.

Except you're ignoring a vast amount of prior evidence that these orders will be held by the delivery company.

i didn't make the icon, i simply edited it, i don't take credit for the person's work.

if you want to get in contact with the designer or make requests, i found this icon here;

http://dribbble.com/shots/437962-Messages-Icon

where you can see the original blue one.

in this screen shot you can get an idea of how it looks on the Launchpad in matching iOS messages green.

in the dock you will see i use the original blue version, for Adium. (because adium is still better than messages, if only messages was like adium, or imessage was something taht could work in adium..)

I'm not a fan of iOS 'warp' look, if you mean the white lines and stuff, i think its ugly. i much prefer the gradient, looks alot more elegant.

Why should they change the icon? Other OS X icons don't reflect their functions either. Look at QuickTime Player for instance: What kind of functionalities does this app have? Drawing some Q's???

And furthermore, the musical note has been the logo of iTunes for more than ten years now. I don't think they'll change it only because iTunes got more functions. Then they should have done it the year, video functions came to iTunes. There's no reason to change it now.

hasnt this iTunes store UI been the same since iOS 6 was released?

It has been mentioned that the iOS store has had those album pages since iOS 6.0.

I could be wrong, as I haven't really used the mobile store since the public release of iOS 6. I mainly used it during beta testing. Anyways, I didn't remember the custom page backgrounds being there previously.

You're right, there have never been such album sites before.
