From a developer stand point, this is why you normally shouldn't release anything other than "Coming Soon". Why?

1) You say, "Out in October" and now you have until the 31st to get it out. If you miss by 1 second, people will complain.

2) You go over a day or two to fix bugs, people complain.

3) You release it early in the month and if there is a bug (and there are) people complain that they didn't test it enough.

4) You release it on time, at the end of the month, people complain it was so late in the month. If there's a bug then obviously they don't know what they are doing.

Unless it is absolutely perfect and released at the beginning of the month specified, people are going to complain. Just say "Coming Soon" and then you're not under pressure to push it out to meet some arbitrary deadline. If a major bug shows up late in the testing, you can still fix it and get it out "Soon".

Shall we start an "iTunes 11 Sucks" thread now or wait until it is actually officially released?

don't announce something if you don't have a hard release date. name other software that gets the 'coming soon' treatment.

Does anyone else think it'll come with a new logo?

Possible. In the iTunes 11 page, there is no iTunes logo. Given that they just recently changed it to drop the CD, it may be too soon to change again, but it would make sense to refresh it a little to reflect the all new UI.

Scroll to the bottom. "Coming Soon"

Everyone just relax. Go out for a walk (or back to work!). It'll come eventually. The less you get worked up about it and focus on other things, the quicker it'll come.

Now back to my college application...

I'd like to see it switch to purple instead of blue, so it matches the iOS icon.

Ah yes, but remember iTunes 1, 2, 3 and 4 all got their own variation of the CD logo? "Purple note, Green note, multiple notes or Blue Note" :D We may still get a very slight difference! (Here's hoping it's a white note, the black kills me.)

Well, actually they had a beta/preview version of it at the event on september and still had half a month until october to work on it. I doubt iTunes is that difficult to program giving the company that works on it. See, Microsoft delivered Windows 8 on time so it's not that difficult to Apple... but apparently they are not focused on it and still want it to work perfectly (as they can't handle more criticism after Maps, iPhone 5 and iPad 4).

That's what I'm thinking, that they want to get the bugs out (or at least most of the bugs) so that way they don't receive more criticism like they did with Maps, iPhone 5, and iPad 4. I prefer a delay and little to no bugs, versus an earlier release with lots of bugs

if they really delayed it for another few weeks or months, they wouldn't said COMING SOON at the conference call but leave the COMING IN OCTOBER on the webpage. i'm sure that we're getting it in the next 24 hours..the sooner the better

maybe they are waiting till the launch of iPad mini and iPad 4... although that isnt october either..

I'd say there's pretty good odds of it coming out later today, as late afternoon releases are fairly common for iTunes. Also, the iTunes store on iOS has started transitioning to the new album pages that were mentioned in the Keynote, so I'd say that may be a good clue that iTunes is on its way.

well, we need the new itunes at least on friday when the new iPad is here...and i don't think they will put out a small update instead of itunes 11^^

hasnt this iTunes store UI been the same since iOS 6 was released?

It has been mentioned that the iOS store has had those album pages since iOS 6.0.

There has to be a new version of iTunes before their release; be it 11 or 10.7.1. They won't be able to sync to the current version. The new iPads are already shipping, I'd be extremely surprised if there was no new iTunes by tomorrow.

what does that have to do with iTunes 11 when iOS 6 already has the revamped stores?

itunes is the program that needs to catch up

I wonder how far out iTunes usually sees updates for new products. This seems to be closer than usual.
