That's certainly all I would expect that you would need to do.

I just did some testing with my phone and I found that voice quality drops off pretty quickly the farther the phone is from your mouth. If I held the phone up to my head with my hand with the screen on my cheek then it sounded very good. If the phone moved further from my mouth... even by an inch or two, like if I tried to hold it up with my shoulder instead of my hand then my voice would start to drop out a bit and it would sound like I was far away.

I got the same effect.

As long as it was next to my face everything was great. Wife said it sounds better than the Fre, but as soon as I took it away just an inch to relocate, or especially when I was talking and got another call and moved the phone to look at the screen while I was still talking she said she could barely hear me and that I sounded like I was a LONG ways away from the phone.
What do you expect though when everything is completely sealed like this.

So I am sure I am going to get some heat for this, but I pick up a Nuud case at my local BB tonight, and I have to say I was disappointed. I really do like the design, but coming come the Fre there are some major things I miss.

First the buttons on the Nuud ( or at least the one I got) were garbage. The sleep wake button was hard to push and did not have much feel to it at all. Now I have no idea if that would get better over time, but my Fre case button feels great, and I think it was fine from day one. The volume up and down are not as hard, but still not was I was expecting. The home button might have been the worst. First of all it sticks up from the case which just looks bad, and second it was loose and just had no feel to it what so ever. Not very happy at all.

Second thing I did not like was the grippy grey rubber on the side. On my Fre it was kind of soft and was very grippy. The Nuud was very hard and kind of slick. On the Fre the this was one creature I really enjoyed.

This things started to bother me after only about 10 minutes with the case. As I stated before I was also very concerned about the case being so much higher than the screen and crap getting stuck in the corners and scratching the screen, and just looking nasty.

I do really love the idea, and over all the case looks good. I really like the clear back. Just those small things all add up, and when I am spending $100 I was a top of the line case. This just did not fell that way. If anyone has any suggests of what I could do to help some of those things, or if it sounds like I got a lemon then please help. At the moment I think I am going to take back Nuud and go back to the Fre.

Nah, we won't give you any heat. You're entitled to your own opinion even if you're totally wrong ;)

Except for the home button, I really don't have any issues with the buttons on my Nuud case... I think they feel quite similar to my old Fre case. I still get a nice little click when I hit the buttons and if anything they're a little easier to push than on the Fre.

The home button is a different story though. It doesn't stick up from the case for me, but as I said in my original review it feels loose and very soft. It also feels uneven when I push it... the bottom of the button goes in more than the top. I definitely prefer the home button on the ipad nuud case.

The rubber does feel a bit different... like you said, the Fre rubber is a bit softer. However, I think I might prefer the Nuud case. After 9 months the rubber on my Fre case was starting to get marked up and pitted. It feels like the rubber on the Nuud case might be more durable. I'm not sure why there were any creatures in your Fre case though;)

At the moment I think I am going to take back Nuud and go back to the Fre.

You may want to try a different Nuud case. I don't think it will change the way the rubber feels, but the way you describe your buttons definitely sounds different than mine. The sleep and volume buttons should be reasonably easy to press and give feedback and the home button should be flush with the case. I think the home button will still feel a bit loose and soft, but if you can live with that and the different rubber, then it might be worth an exchange.

I do agree with the power button. Its definitely very hard to push. I, like you, hope it gets better over time. Volume up/down work/feel great to me.

Home button on mine is perfect. It doesn't sit above the case it sits below it and the feedback is great from it. I wonder if something happened during your install and the button got turned or something that is causing it to sit funny and stick out, etc.

I do have 1 complaint.. The back being very scratch prone. I was testing out mounting my phone on a tri-pod just to do a video and the back touched the back of the tripod plastic and it made some pretty big scratches all around the back of the case.. I can only imagine after a couple of days of use or 1 drop and the back will be covered with them.

Brett thanks for the reply. I am thinking of taking it back and trying another case, but I am still unsure. Here is a picture of my home button if you can see it.

That was from the top down.

Also after using your for a few days. Have you noticed dust and stuff getting on the screen and trapped in the corners? I don't keep my case in a belt holster so I would be real afraid that would happen if I used the Nuud for a extended amount of time.

Oh and yes I found it very weird that creatures were in my case.#

The home button on mine was above the screen before I installed the case. I guess I just got one that was just a bit pushed out.

Yeah, I noticed when looking through all the cases at BB, some of them had home buttons that were crooked and some had ones that stuck out like yours. I would just take yours back and take a look through their stock until you see one that looks good to you.

I will also agree about the sleep/wake button. It is stiff on mine as well, but that really doesn't bother me. I think it will likely loosen some with more use.

Otherwise still love this case. Using it with my holster today to see if it stays in fine. Will let you all know.

Pic of case side by side with fre case, this mm of thickness is prob the reason why it's not fitting in the accessories cause those accessories were built around the fre case. But I guess if your accessory has a bit of play it might fit. Just a hunch cause I don't have a belt clip or any accessory for that matter.

You need to go buy some to find out for sure :)

Yea I just don't trust lifeproof that much. I had a terrible experience with the fre. The screen protector wasn't my issue the muffled speaker it couldn't hear and the vibration was. They are a novelty though.

Would someone mind posting a picture or two of the scratches you're getting on the back of the nuud?

Picked up a white nuud last night at my local Best Buy. The BB employees in the cell phone area didn't even know the case existed. I had to ask them to check their stock in the computer. Once they finally reaized I knew what I was talking about, they had to find another employee who knew where they were. They were at the front of the store with electronic theft proof gadgets strapped around them so I had an employee take them all off so I could open the case flap to find the one with the best home button. Luckily I found one with a straight one, but I am surprised that it's not "tighter" than it is. The home button seems a little flimsy and loose. It's recessed and not sticking up like some here so I'm thankful for that. At this point that's really my only complaint other than my screen protector not sticking in the lower right hand corner and being a bit too short, but I'm not too worried about that. I'm planning to get a different screen protector and cutting it to fit a little better. Love the clear back, but like most here, I can see it showing lots of scratches over time. I wish they would have gone with a less glossy clear back. Also, does anyone know if the "design" on the inside of the back cover serves a purpose? I really wish that wasn't there. Over all I am very pleased. It's a keeper, but I'm keeping my fre as a backup also. For me this is a perfect everyday case. Having direct access to the screen is a major plus and (to me) it does seem that the sound quality for calls and speaker is slightly improved. It's definitely not any worse than the fre. Happy hunting y'all!

OK, so I managed to fix my new holster so the phone fits a little better. As people have already mentioned, the Nuud is very slightly thicker than the Fre and this seems to be where the problem lies. Looking into the top of the holster you can see two little rubber bumpers that hold the phone out. I figured that reducing these slightly should be enough to let the phone sit back a little further in the holster and fit well. So I pulled them out and put them back in backwards (Pulling them out isn't too hard... pull them out from the front. Putting them back in is a bit more challenging... it's a big rubber piece and a small hole, but I got them back in after a bit of trying)

The phone definitely fits better in the holster now, but if anything, it sits a little too far back and could use a little more rubber. I may try turn them around again and maybe try to trim some rubber off the top, so they're not quite so big, or maybe just pull them out entirely and see if I can find some little stick on rubber feet to put at the top of the holster instead.

Here are a couple of pictures. It looks like the rubber bits are recessed and not actually doing anything, but they are rounded a bit and they stick out in the middle. They are very close to being flush with the surface though.

was just at my local best buy and they had several in stock, both white and black. I was able to hold off for now, but the temptation was there. I must have gone back 3 times. I am curious how it will work with my screen protector. Anyone have one with a screen protector?

OK, well, I have some good news for those people who still have an older style holster. I just looked at my old clip and the little rubber bumpers are smaller than the ones on the new style holster. I took the bumpers from the old holster and put them on the new holster and the phone fits perfectly now.

Unfortunately if you don't have an old holster to get bumpers from, then you might be stuck trying to reverse or trim your existing bumpers.

It will not work with an existing screen protector. The case needs to seal against the naked iphone screen or it may not be waterproof. It does come with a screen protector that is small enough to fit only on the exposed part of the iphone screen after the case is installed, or you could use another screen protector trimmed down to those dimensions and applied after the case is installed.

Dammit just went to my non local BB store and they had only 2 black

What do u know...both had crooked home buttons

Back to my search for the perfect nuud case :)

Do you have the iPhone 4/4s or iPhone 5 case, because I can guarantee you the iPhone 5 is not perfect. I have tried 3 different ones and installed following the directions to a T.

Wife and I both had one on the 4S and she has one on her 5. I never lived with one on my 5 because I hated that dang phone and took it back. But I have used the wifes and it has no issues.

----------

how is one supposed to operate the case? it has all those issues and they are well documented with many users of this forum, its a love hate relationship. i hated it, life proof sucks

Follow the instructions. If done right and you have "poof" then air is getting in and it's not waterproof. We have had ours in the ocean, in water parks, pools, in lakes and in the rain. No issues.

Have you tried it with the Pro Clip in the car yet?

Yeah I did. Still works like mine did with the fre. Even though it is a slight bit thicker, still seems to hold in there the same as the fre did which is good enough.

----------

By the way, I use this holder which seems to work well enough. They make one similar to this one for rugged cases which would probably hold it a bit better though, but I don't think it is necessary.

They do make one specifically for the LifeProof fre as well though, which would probably work well with the nuud too, but not sure.

I picked up the black/smoke and absolutely love it. The experience is undoubtedly better than the Fre IMO. Unfortunately as is usually the case, I'm not a fan of the screen protector or "optional scratch guard" provided in the packaging. Is anyone using the case without the "optional scratch guard"?

I know everyone's had different experiences but I've never had issues with scratches on my iOS devices' glass and am planning on going "Nuud" with the screen.

On a side note: the waterproofing is phenomenal!

I rocked mine with the optional screen applied and even though its gorilla glass and I've seen a lot of videos doing torturous things to the screen without a scratch, I've also heard it was scratched by just being put in the pocket, so I dont know..

What I do know is that the optional screen protector is not cut precise, and there is a little exposure of the screen on the sides and top/bottom.

My OCD is working overdrive, and I may end up buying a spigen crystal clear screen protector, then cutting it to fit the whole screen.

HOWEVER, there is the running into cutting too big a size that will overlap with the seal, which may affect its water-poofness..

So I'm not sure if I want to do it or not:D
