I'm tempted to just get the stock 6 core model since it will probably be easy to find in store .. problem is .. i really not sure if the d500s are going to be that great ..

on a gaming front (all i play is wow at times) it should definitely be better than the 780m in the iMac ?

With most people getting BTO options, I wonder how long the wait to receive our orders will be.

I was hoping to have the new workstation setup for starting work in January :(

I'm assuming Apple has been tracking my poll results and will have precisely the right stock at launch such that everyone here gets their BTO overnight. ;)

So if you answered that poll... yours is good to go! :D

Of course, that doesn't help people like me that have changed their mind on BTO options at least twice since I started that poll. :(

The D500 should perform similar to a 7950 which performs a bit better than the 780M... http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+GTX+780M

It's all conjecture at this point. Why so certain there's a delay at all? How can a product that was said will be released in December already be delayed on December 17th?

With two major holidays in December, Christmas and New Years, December, for a business really ends on the 20th. Especially since Christmas and New years both fall on a Wednesday. Those who post about the delays have valid concerns.

Funny, because my official company holiday day off is 1 January 2014. 31 December 2013 is a normal business day.

but of course, since it's a high-tech company in Silicon Valley the parking lot will be nearly empty on the 31st... ;)

Just at Apple Store and was hinted to there was a setup coming after closing tonight. He mentioned this after I brought up when the heck is a new Mac Pro coming out. We'll see.

Nice - very professional, instead of the store mysteriously going down they pre announce it. Thursday it is.

Right, this looks like an announcement for pre-orders only - never does it say shipping. It's always "available to order"....

maybe a select few.

The all-new Mac Pro will be available to order starting Thursday, December 19 through the Apple Online Store (www.apple.com), Apple’s retail stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers.
