That will be a shame
I hope its not
I have a blue ray drive and five 3 tb black drives in my
that will take allots of desk space if I would have to replace

For photo editing and some BR movies this will do me for next two years and hopefully by than Hakintoshes will be more reliable.
Having drive bays is a must for me as it allows me to keep the desk much cleaner

Why don't you feet yourself a drobo 5d and put the drives in there? Will even be faster probably..

I'm thinking this week now. If next week it pushes into Christmas, and they certainly should have immediate stock by now.

I agree this week

Apple would pull an Obama if they rolled it out later. No one would get them by Christmas, and miss MASS sales...but then again Apple is as Aplle does.

This is really starting to get ridiculous. Companies, myself included, have to buy things by the end of this fiscal year for budgets, and we are now expected to buy this thing at the last possible moment, sight unseen, no reviews?

I really hope they have put a few in some reviewers hands so when they launch we have feedback on if it's even worth the cost or not.

Give us something, sheesh.

Same problem here. Plus in Poland I get invoice with date of shipment. If they ship it after year pass I'm screwed cause my accountant can't include cost to 2013...

I don't care so much about when it goes on sale, but I wish they'd put up pre-orders or at least pricing details beyond the two configurations. What will SSD upgrades cost (a lot). What about memory (ditto).

Crucial is selling a 32 GB (2 16 GB sticks) for around 430, I think, but they mention you have to remove the others, so Apple's might work out cheaper. (Doubtful).

Why does your fiscal year run with the calendar year? That is not normal. My fiscal year end is the 30th of September. Also why does it matter so much if it gets written off against your income this year, or the next?

It does matter because for example I pay income tax quarterly. If I get it next year it will take 3 months revenue before I retrieve payed tax in new Mac.

I needed it by the 20th for a work project so I couldn't wait any longer without word of a date. Now my http://www.thinkmate.com HPZ is being built with target completion this Fri. and shipping next week.

I'm not upset that I waited 6 months for the nMP for nothing. Now I'm getting the latest v.2 Xeon processor, 1866 MHz ECC RAM, and the latest 840 Pro SSDs that weren't out 6 months ago.

I would have preferred the small and quiet nMP, but the case I selected is their 'Super Quiet', and I found some extra quieter fans online that I'll also purchase to swap out the CPU and case fans: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608005

The only thing I didn't find a fix for is the huge size, but the extra space lets me have system drive redundancy so I'll just have to accept not having the cool shiny toy in exchange for having the more useful function of RAID10.

I'll still be visiting the Apple store when it comes out so I can pet one. It's like a Corvette: I'd really like one, but it isn't always as practical.

In Canada, if you are a sole proprietorship, then your fiscal year is the calendar year. It also affects how much depreciation you can amortize in the 1st year. Just off the top of my head and iirc, buying an expensive system in the last few days of the fiscal year allows you take a half year's depreciation for system that really only ages a few days or weeks. But it's been awhile since I calculated my own depreciation.

On the other hand buying it in the first few days of 2014 means that you get to claim the GST ( a 5% VAT here ) back in a quarter when you will have lots of bills to pay and for most people a sales slump.

So I figure it evens out somewhat in the end.

thank you. Your explanation makes sense.

"Coming in December" is simply Apple's tongue in cheek, yet accurate, description of the Mac users lucky enough to have the funds to buy them when actually released :D

I'm still betting on the original rumour from that retailer that it will be the 16th and not tomorrow. But I will try to believe and make it so:D
