I can't believe people are bidding on these on ebay at over $450

If you want the phone that bad go to t-mobile buy one for $500 and have a warranty through them rather than be screwed on ebay.

It would be actually great, if in the next selling round, they limit the number of devices you can buy to only one (plus a bumper, I guess). That way, more people could receive a phone. When I read stories about some people ordering 40 phones, it makes me a bit upset…

Also, it would be good, if you had to sign up for a notification letter again, so that they don't send a notice to those already registered, because I feel, when this email hits a second time, a lot of people might just spontaneously decide to buy one to put it on Ebay, even though they already have a phone.

I was going to say why not wait for the official Nexus 4 orb but then I saw that one is selling for $4 (saving you $46) so let us know how it works out and how fast it charges.

Yeah that is the only reason I got it...and if it works I will buy them out haha. I'm thinking the official ones will be at least $80

Screw it I'm gonna get one now too :p

I still don't know when I'm getting my phone since I ordered it from some British website and not through Google since we have no store in Ireland. I'm just worried if this would have any adverse effects on the Nexus 4 but I think it should be fine as long as they're using the same standard?

Edit: Doesn't ship to Ireland.. "We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order."

So dumb. Why not do a back order kinda thing like Apple does? Instead of having to constantly monitor sites for when restocks?

The notification email? Useless and you know it. It'll be sold out before you get the email anyway.

Guess I'll just stick with my iPhone.

You must have not really wanted it if you're giving up that easily. Yes their system isn't perfect and a lot of people are pissed off including you and me. I can't even get it in my country because there's no Play store so I had to pay extra to get it through a 3rd party website. Despite all that I really want this phone and I'm willing to wait a bit and pay extra just to have it and I'm generally a very impatient guy :p

I'd be HAPPY to wait a bit. 2-3 week estimated ship? Perfectly fine with that.

What I'm NOT fine with is the vague "Coming Soon," with absolutely no indication of when it'll be back in stock. I have a life, and I am not going to constantly reload the page and scour the AndroidCentral forums to pounce on it the minute it's back in stock.

I did that today, and failed because of the stupid errors (I get it; this happens to all of them, even Apple), and I'm perfectly fine with "****! I got it backordered," and accept I'll get it in 2-3 weeks instead of 2-3 days.

But nope. So unless Google adds a back-ordering system (or ANNOUNCES a firm time and date (and not jump the gun like they did today) I'm moving on.

I understand it will be a couple of days for the next round. Hopefully they last a little longer this time now that the initial rush is gone. It is a VERY stupid system, however.

Google sucks at launches. They've sucked before with the Nexus S and they've sucked before with the Galaxy Nexus and they are sucking now with the Nexus 4. I agree with most of what this article says too:

"Nexus 4 Launch is a Failure" http://www.phonearena.com/news/Nexus-4-launch-is-a-failure-for-Google-Play_id36581

Having said that, you're likely only cheating yourself if you pass on a device that you wanted and will likely use daily for presumably the next year or two, maybe more.

Getting the Nexus 4 wasn't about being first or an early adopter. Getting the Nexus 4 was about getting the stock Android experience. It makes no sense to go back to a less desirable OS because you couldn't switch fast enough.

Again, don't get me wrong. I understand the frustration, but in a few weeks time, you'll be able to get it and try Android just as you had originally planned.

Well, from their history, how long before you could, well, go on the website and order one without having to be all vulture-y?

Actually, this is the first time where they've launched a phone on the Play Store (technically second time if you count the Nexus One which just had a single dedicated sales page. There was no "Play Store" back then) so it's hard to cite precedence.

Oddly, you may want to look into the Nexus 7 launch to see how this one will play out. I believe they sold out crazy fast, but things got back to normal in a few weeks...? It wasn't very long. You won't be waiting months like one might for the iPhone.

Google themselves have said they should be available again in a few weeks.

It's silly to not get it if you want it just because you didn't get in on the initial orders.

Personally, I think that I'd probably prefer the S3 to the Nexus 4 because it seems like the S3 performed better in every aspect (performance, battery, LTE). However, if you don't want to commit you can't beat the Nexus' price. Plus you get updates right away with the Nexus.

However, what the hell happened with the battery? Claimed 15 hours talk time turned out to be 7.8 hours according to Anandtech. That's a ridiculous difference. I wonder if there's a bug or something?

Rumor has it that it wasn't running optimized software... only time will tell when (lucky) people get theirs in the mail.

Meanwhile I sit in the corner waiting for my turn to snatch one up!

My only gripe now is I only got the 8gb model. I think that will end up on cr as soon as I can snag or even order the 16gb.

I intentionally went 8gb since I stream all of my music, use Dropbox for photos, and don't really game on it. A lot of apps are not as important as they use to be b.c mobile Internet is so much better. Not really a reason for me to have a chase or imdb app. If you really think about the apps you use that should be enough storage...unless you have a big music collection you store locally.

Yeah, the Nexus 7's launch was what I'm thinking of. Except there *were* pre-orders for it, unlike the Nexus 4.

I wasn't interested in the 7, so I didn't get caught up in the drama back then, though.

So the N4 charger is going to be $50? If so, ill just use the cord. No big deal to me.

Or if you want to be flashing custom ROMs and don't want to constantly be moving your backups to a computer :(

No idea. I was talking about the Palm Pre Touchstone which was 50 but dropped to $4 on Amazon. Turns out it won't work with the Nexus 4 so it doesn't matter.
