Can exceptions be made for "Do not disturb" in any way? Either by person, or even more fidelity to text or phone calls by person?
Here are your options:

Agreed.

Kit Kat's multitasking was not that great, but this even worse! And those Chrome tabs... what if you have 20 open? Are they all going to show?

IMO, Nokia N9's multitasking was the best, with cards.

Scrolling up and down through a carousel, with larger cards, looks more professional and pleasing to the eye (to me anyway), over the previous version, which looks a bit dated.
Besides, this appears to be the common way of looking at cards in a deck now. WebOS started it and iOS and Android are expanding it. The merging of commonly used UI features between the two OS systems is a bonus IMO.

----------

All apps and games working?

I'll let you know. So far, so good, but if you have a specific app or game you want me to try, let me know.

----------

Any notable changes to google now, other than aesthetics?
Particularly interested in any changes to customisation options.
Customizations remain unchanged to me. Haven't noticed any difference from 4.4.4 I was running prior to L

Lloyd, can you please post screenshots of:

1. Example of text selection. I wonder how it looks. Are levers better than before?

2. Calendar in "Month" view.

3. Timer / Stopwatch.

4. Gallery

Can you also try opening a YouTube video in Chrome, then send it to background and see if the video(audio) stops playing.

Yeah, i like the current buttons better. Hopefully the finished product will be the current buttons with the ability to move them around.
These are the final buttons. Android 5.0 appears to be a simplistic UI, utilizing basic geometric shapes, primary colors and uses a revised Roboto font. For good or bad, this is it.

Sure, give me a second. I'm currently running Antutu's latest (not able to cheat) benchmark test.

Antutu X Benchmark score on Android "L" variant. As a comparison, it fared less than the HTC One M7, S4, S5, and M8

See pics below
1. Text selection seems easier to grab. Easier to place where you want the prompt to. Double tap to select the text you want worked as expected.

2. Calendar remains unchanged in month view

3. Timer/stopwatch remains unchanged

4. There is no 'gallery' separate app any more. Everything is within 'Photos' now

5. Youtube does not continue playing when you close the app. I imagine someone will find a work around on that though.

Android looks sooo much better now. It actually looks professional. I'm sure they will continue to make changes up until the final release this Fall...but its looking great so far!

The "photos" is from Google+ isnt it? There should be a Gallery as well. I dont use Google+.

Clash of clans works and goes into immersive mode as it should.

Nova launcher works as it should

Candy crush works and now I am addicted! Thanks a lot for that! :p

Ebay works just fine.

Google Launcher remains unchanged from 4.3/4.4. Use Nova.

Sorry mate. Everything is now within Photo's which is used by Google+. There is no longer a separate 'Galley' app. You can download a 3rd party one though that looks just like the one in KitKat. However, Google is no longer supporting it, at least in the "L" preview.

LOL, i avoided that game for a couple years while co workers played it because it didnt look like anything id like but one day i finally played it and i also got addicted :p

Thanks for trying those out. Id do it myself but looking at the tutoral on how to intsall it, i didnt see where to get the SDK manager and then just too many steps of making this and that.

Ill just wait for it to come out whenever that will be.

Well crap. I dont know why they did that. Many people dont use Google+ as it isnt that popular.

Phone and camera quick links remain, but the lockscreen is now very clean and modern. Take a look.

Is that customizable, where you have your lockscreen notifications hidden? i.e. can I make them visible all the time? Also, do you have a passcode or anything when your device locks? How does that work? i.e. is there a swipe to unlock that brings you to the passcode?

Looks good!

Are notifications on the lock screen actionable? Like can you delete an email or mark as read from the lock screen?

OneDrive works for me. Twitter isn't working either.

Doesn't look like it, double tapping the notification takes you to the corresponding app.

EDIT: Actually it looks like you can, pull down on the notification just like you would from the notification tray and it gives you the same options.

I don't use a pass code, but the options to use swipe, face detection, pin, etc remains unchanged.

As for notifications on the lock screen, yes they can remain available to see anytime you wake your phone. However, only 4 are visible at a time.

This is a dumb follow up question, but do you wake to the lock screen now?
