Does everyone think the N6 will be on the stores at the end of the month?

I think the Nexus 6 officially goes up for sale on the Play Store on Oct. 29th, and then shipping after that the week of Nov. 3rd ?

Tmobile said November 12, so that would be my guess as the earliest. I think that will also be the "delivery" date if you order through the play store when preorders start.

In the past they do preorders and ship them the following Friday. The n9 ships Nov. 3, but I think the n6 will ship 11/6 and arrive the following week of 11/10

This is when you’ll finally be able to preorder Google’s amazing new Nexus 6
http://bgr.com/2014/10/21/google-nexus-6-preorder/

The phone will be available in two storage versions, including 32GB ($649) and 64GB ($699), with buyers being able to order one directly from Google starting with October 29th, the same date Google mentioned when announcing the phone last week. The company has not yet revealed when the handset will be shipped, although more details on the matter should be announced once preorders start.

The specs show standby increases about 30% when not using Ambient Display--that's not insignificant. If Moto Display is purportedly just a battery sipper, why so much on this incarnation?

I guess the real question is how will it effect day to day use. Does anyone really leave their cell phone on Standby for these amounts of time? I understand a tablet, but not a phone.

Looks very pretty and actually not that huge. Check out those slim edges.

Agreed. After using the 6+ for about a month, I'm sold on large phones--the extra screen real estate makes the experience so much better. I'd take this over the Note 4 in a heartbeat, but that's purely based on my preferences.

A friend of mine had a iPhone with the 4.7" screen. I like the size of that phone. It is the same overall size as my Nexus 5 but the screen is a bit smaller.
That said, I didn't like the huge icons and I'm just not into iOS. I played around with it sparingly.

It looks huge to me. The edges are slim, but it is thick and massive for a phone that I'd have to carry in my jeans pocket.

The thickness doesn't worry me. To put it in perspective, at its thickest point (very small portion of the front/back area) it is as thick as a Note 2 with a 1mm case on. That is what I'm currently using and my phone is that thick across the whole chassi, and I've never had an issue with its thickness. Meanwhile, the Nexus 6 is even thinner than a 6 Plus at the edges. Ergo - the Nexus 6 will feel at least markedly thinner than a Note 2 with a 1mm case on.

The 6 Plus by comparison is too thin to handle comfortably, in my taste. It needs a case to feel really good in the hand, otherwise the flat back combined with that incredible thinness creates what feels kind of like a void between the hand and the device.

I think the N6 will feel just fine in terms of thickness. And it's only marginally taller than a iPhone 6 Plus (1.15 mm), hardly even noticeable. The width though, that will be the deal breaker for many. I think while the Note 4 and iPhone 6 Plus are kind of usable one handed, the Nexus 6 will be a decidedly two-handed device. Also Lollipop doesn't seem to have many software solutions for one handed phablet use. (If any...?)

All this according to my personal preferences of course :) Of course we won't know for sure until we've actually laid hands on it.

Forbes today has a piece on the 6+ saying the very same. The rounded edges just don't give you that feeling of security when holding it.

I got to test drive the N6 today. I don't like really big phones but something about the N6 just got me - the real estate available on the screen was just amazing and it does making working on the phone just such a better experience - I can see how people can get hooked on large phones. I was really impressed with the phone though - the speed and smoothness was just wonderful.

Not sure it's still for me. I will have to wait and see.

Apparently there will be a new messaging app on the nexus 6 (again). Does anyone know if this will replace hangouts, or will we have to bury this app if we use hangouts?

You will have both. The new messenger is just sms and it's aimed at those people that only want sms and want the simplicity of one app that does just that.

You still have hangouts and can use it instead if that's your preference.

Thanks. Damn them! I know I will love the new app, but it would be redundant (in my case) to use separate apps. I use hangouts for work, so the fact it gained SMS was awesome.

So here's a question for all of you.

As someone whose primary use of my phone is for multimedia purposes, - netflix, hulu, youtube, etc before bed and when on long car trips, the tinny one way speakers on the iPhone have always bothered me. How good are the, supposedly HTC based, speakers on the N6 and in your opinion do they make it worth the switch for someone who watches so much video on their phone?

I still have my IP6+ on preorder from AT&T but I'm strongly considering the N6, especially if HTC doesn't ship before I can preorder this. An even bigger screen in a not so much bigger chassis and battery life will probably decide it for me...

Well, its odd that you use your phone for that instead of a tablet but id think the HTC One M8 would be best for that if you want better sound.
