The ars review is kind of disappointing. They only show GFXBench onscreen results (even though the iPhone 6/6+ has a lower resolution). The battery life test is basically ran with no battery saving techniques (they turned off Adaptive Brightness). On the storage speed it is even pointed out in the comments that Android 5.0 comes with FDE turned on by default, yet no real mention of that in the review (or if it is something that could affect the storage speed).

Here is a nice little unboxing review from Marques Brownlee. He mentions how great the display is. I have my pre order coming next week Can't wait to get my hands on it.

I'll agree that Razeus' intentions are obvious.

That being said, early reports and reviews sadly are showing he's not entirely of base. Everything I've read so far indicates the same problems that have plagued Nexus devices for years--subpar camera and battery life. The battery life performance is what's truly mystifying, with such a large capacity battery.

I truly hope Google is able to get many of the issues sorted with software fixes (big fan of the design of the 6 and of course, stock Android) otherwise, looks like the recent Nexus offerings are falling flat.

Not only does the iPhone 6/iOS 8 lag once in a while, it's also overall just slow. The animations, the time it takes to get from app to app, the pathways to general and app settings (settings is a real mess in my opinion), trying to make text edits, scrolling through safari, Safari tab refreshes, Touch ID, etc. all make the overall user experience feel slow. Like molasses.

Android may lag once in a rare while as all OSes do but at least the majority of the time it's blazing fast. I feel like I can do things muh faster on an android device.

The only thing truly fast on the iPhone 6 in my opinion is the camera. Fast and reliable. Overall user experience though? Android feels faster.

And yes, my iPhone 6 with latest build of iOS 8 has froze before. It's silly to think any device with any operating system is impervious to the pitfalls of software.

Totally agreed, it's just his extrapolations from the nexus 6 and 9 issues to android as a whole that are ridiculous

I have to agree. I thought this nexus, with its price and specs, was finally the nexus that didn't hold back. It would finally eliminate the two chronic weaknesses of nexus devices: battery life and camera. And while they're not bad per de they're also not up to snuff with the high end competition.

I still can't believe I'm seeing battery life and camera on the "con" side of things in reviews. Given the size and price I find these compromises a turn off personally.

Agreed...the early reviews do not paint a pretty picture. I almost cancelled my pre order. But then I saw the MKBHD review. He mentioned how he liked the display. I saw how fast the UI was when he was going through the menus. I will wait to get my hands on it before making any judgements.
I hope the reviews are somewhat wrong. I am really concerned about battery life and the camera. At XDA some of the pictures posted there are very nice....

Well, I don't think any reviewers are claiming the camera is horrible, just not as good as much of the competition. Most will states it's better than past Nexus, but that really isn't saying much. The battery issue is troubling--thought Project Volta was supposed to help this.

Hate to say it but if good battery, very good camera and a top notch display are important, can't see why one would choose this over the Note 4. Yes, I understand some people really prefer stock Android (<raises hand>) but even I, an admitted Samsung 'non-fan' ;), wouldn't chose the Nexus over the Note if performance in these reviews are truly indicative of real world performance.

Still seems like the Note 4 is the king of the Android throne as I thought the Nexus 6 would provide some competition.

My exact thoughts, glad i picked samsung. I wonder if i will ever update to Android L as it looks like a slow OS despite jumbo specs.

That is exactly how I feel. I wouldn't mind paying $650 for the nexus 6 assuming the battery and camera were better. It really sounds like the n5 at $349 is a much better buy.

I have a iPhone 5s with iOS 8 and I don't notice any lag at all. Granted, I haven't used an Android flagship in a while so I don't have any real world comparisons. However, I have watched a bunch of reviews of Android since getting my iPhone last year and Android looks great. I will agree with you that the settings is a mess and slightly agree that TouchID doesn't work all the time but only when the home button is oily/dirty.

Still, these early reviews of the Nexus 6 have left me wanting more in the battery section. It has a huge battery and it's still all over the place. Other than that, the Nexus 6 looks great and it's something I would consider. I would just have to get used to/deal with the large size.

The only thing I find ironic about this is, someone posted the Nexus 6 camera shots and videos a few pages back and then everybody was going on about how it kills the iPhone in stills and videos. (It seems as though the Nexus can't do 1080 at 60fps which I rather it do than UHD)

The reviews all seem to state that the Nexus 6 has an average camera, still not up to the 6 and the Note 4 standards. Thought that was kinda funny.

That being said, Im hoping to pick up a new Nexus 5 for a steal but seems as though the prices rose lately.
