Slow nand performance has been explained to be a result of encryption. The nexus five suffers the same on lollipop. Hopefully Google can fix this...or all phones will see a slow down.

Pink tinted screen....haven't seen that on any other review.

The camera has been a mixed bag, with more people praising it than not. Pit won't top the iPhone or note....but it is good, and will get better with updates...just like previous nexus devices, as well as previous Moto devices.

I am hearing the update from yesterday improved many aspects already. I would recommend reading a variety of reviews. Gsmarena, techno buffalo, the verge, endgadget, phone arena, etc.

Overall...it is getting favorable reviews. If people can handle the size...I doubt they will regret the purchase, I look forward comparing it to my note...just got to manage to get one....

Pink screen is only at an extreme angle such as the phone laying on a table on your putting your head on he able alongside it to look at it. There was one review where they put the brightness all the way down it introduced a pink tinge.

So far, I've read a lot of great things about the phone. Some have made a point to highlight it sheer size while others have stated it is almost identical to the 6Plus but with a great ergonomic feel due to the contour.

All in all, it is in fact getting favorable reviews with a few negatives sprinkled in.

I wonder why Anandtech was the only one to show a pink screen?
All the reviews and people that had the phone…..only Anandtech had a pink screen…...

My Discover card was charged tonight for the full amount of Nexus 6 preorder from the Play Store, I hope this means it will ship tomorrow!

I'm not one for conspiracies lol. Manufacturing defects happen and I am actually skeptical of it being a major issue.

I'll be honset here. I'm using an unofficial L ROM on my Nexus 4 and my god do I prefer it over iOS 8...my mind is set on the 6+ due to certain reasons but if I get to try a Nexus 6 out, I may end up keeping it instead...

I don't hink the reviews are bad. They're probably just not as good as everyone was hoping it would be given the price and given the perception that this would finally be the be-all and end-all of nexus phones. A nexus phone without any compromises at last. It's just not living up to that it seems.

Fully agree : it is easier to accept some flaws here and there with a $350 device, less with a $650 phone

I understand it's easier to forgive flaws in a $350 phone, but are the 6+ and Note 4 flaw free? Both are more expensive than the N6, and both have some issues. People were complaining about the bending of the 6+ (I have had no issues with mine). I have not been following the Note 4 very close at all, but I heard some small complaints about lag in Touchwiz. Again not flagship is perfect, but I am not really sure how the N6 is different from the 6+ or Note 4. Is it just because people want to like those phones more?

No flagship is flawless as you said, we just all do not pay attention to same features i suppose. At the end all these phones do a perfect job for 80% of usages but we focus on the possible 20% just to make sure we buy best all around phone available at time T.
I was between 6+, N6 and note4 but wish to leave iOS after 5 years dragged me to Android side. From reviews i have read N6 screen looks great and I do not really care about camera (i did not take any pic with my phone for months, i have a real camera for that). What made me pick more expensive Note4 were removable battery and SD card slot, but I can understand that someone who takes hundreds of pics a month with his phone wants to be sure he s got best buit in camera.
I will test N6 anyhow because I am curious and impressed by Moto progress (moto X 2014, Droid Turbo, this Nexus).
My brother bought a 6+ and he his more than happy with it : great time for us who prefer large screens!

Agreed.

Returned a six plus for a note 4. Don't regret it...

Got a nexus 9, but ended returning it for an iPad Air 2.

But...my short time with android 5.0 was all that it took. It is why i want the nexus....pure android 5.0 is gorgeous.

I agree. I think the 3 best phones you can buy are the iPhone 6+, Note 4, and N6. Well I think the N6. I have not gotten to use it, but it looks like it's going to be great. Right now the 6+ is the best smartphone I have ever used, but I don't want to forget about android. Hopefully soon I can get my hands on the N6, and see for myself how awesome it is.

There are some really good reviews for the Nexus 6.
Ars and Anandtech seem to the negative reviews. But most other reviews are positive.

'Things changed with the Nexus 6, however – Google's first phablet not only has enough space to fit a massive, 3,220 mAh cell, but it's also priced at $649. So it obviously has to deliver, and deliver on battery life, too, and despite its power-hungry Quad HD display. Thankfully, as it turns out, it absolutely does – this is the first Nexus device to achieve an excellent battery life on our custom test, or, all told – 7 hours and 53 minutes. Unfortunately, while this is a pretty great score overall, it does fall behind other recent QHD juggernauts, like the Galaxy Note 4 and the DROID Turbo, both of which fared better (8 hours 43 minutes and 10 hours 42 minutes, respectively).'

This is good news as I'm also concerned with battery performance. What I can't fathom though is how stock android on the Nexus 6 performs worse than the Note 4 with touchwiz. Because every time I custom rom a Samsung phone with stock, the battery becomes a huge boon.

There is a lot of conflicting reports out there about the N6. But there are some reliable reviewers that have said some very positive things about the N6. I get mine next week and will answer any questions anyone has......

Starting to think that real life reviews - along with the software updates - may prove a bit more useful than the reviews that emerged a couple of days ago.

Well, fingers crossed anyway. There are 4 days until the UK pre-order.

Meh, whether its fair or not, the Nexus 6 will need to be better in my eyes because I was able to buy my 6+ on Next (paid nothing up front).

I know all about how the programs work and understand that at the end of the day my 6+ will cost me about $400 more than the Nexus 6 would (128GB vs 32GB).....but for me at this point in time its about justifying the purchase of a third phone at $650 - regardless of what I've bought up to this point.

Killer reviews and it would've made the decision easier - but all these middling reviews and the concessions that appear to still have been made make it a more difficult one.

That and my Nexus 5 still works plenty well for what it is used for...

I'm a bit disappointed with how the overall review perception is. A couple didn't like it much, some are indifferent, and most LIKE it. None of the reviews are over the moon about it though, which I was hoping for in a (minimum) $700 (after taxes) Nexus device.

Had this thing been priced at $499 I think the entire perception of it would be more favorable. It's hard to accept slow memory, okay camera, and okay battery life in a flagship priced device.

I understand. Its the same for me, but I feel like we are jumping on this phone a bit too soon. I want to see what people in here say when they get the phone. Reviewers seem to have an agenda sometimes. I want to hear from actual people that want the phone.

With all that being said it does put a damper on the N6. I was hoping the reviews would be better, and the phone would be almost perfect. I think the $650 starting price is way to much to ask for this phone. Yet people are still preordering it. I think it might be better than some reviewers want to say that it. I guess we will see.

Totally agree. I was thinking of doing the AT&T next for it, but now I am second guessing. Wait to see what others think. Also AT&T only has the blue 32gb which I want nothing to do with. I think the white looks much cleaner. I may try to Motorola finance thing.

Nope. The Aanadtech review shows some worrying issues like poor NAND performance and a pink tinted screen plus a really slow camera.

That was actually from the arstechnica review. The pink only appeared in a special ultra low brightness mode that goes dimmer than other phones do, it's for people who want the option to go as dim as possible regardless of color balance.

http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014...premium-price-still-comes-with-compromises/1/

One of the more interesting features of the 6-inch, 2560×1440 AMOLED screen is that, on the lowest brightness, it turns pink. We're going to call this a feature, and not a bug, since the screen can do normal-color low brightness at about the same level as the Note 4 (2 cd/m2). While Samsung just stopped at that point with its AMOLED screen, Motorola takes things a step further and goes for the absolute lowest brightness without regard for color accuracy. This pink mode allows the Nexus 6 to hit (0.9 cd/m2)—one of the darkest displays we've ever seen. The pinkness doesn't really bother us when we're just trying to get stuff done in the dark. Our primary concern is not being blinded.

Because of the way brightness works in Lollipop, you're only able to get this pink mode in a dark environment. "Adaptive Brightness" is meant to be on all the time. It works like automatic brightness, but there is still a slider you can adjust.

When you're not in the dark, the colors on the screen are fine.

The performance issue is much more of a concern, overall it seems like the phone may not live up to the specs, particularly at that price.

The non-bolded part can be said for nearly every Nexus device, but the bolded part is what is wrong with the N6.

Yeah I don't know. I have always liked the white phone. My iPhone 6+ is the white ( or if we are technical is silver), and I got the Nexus 5 in white. The blue is not bad. I just like the white better. Who do you like the next program? I am still on the unlimited data, so I would just be adding an additional cost to my bill.
