I have a iPhone 5s with iOS 8 and I don't notice any lag at all. Granted, I haven't used an Android flagship in a while so I don't have any real world comparisons. However, I have watched a bunch of reviews of Android since getting my iPhone last year and Android looks great. I will agree with you that the settings is a mess and slightly agree that TouchID doesn't work all the time but only when the home button is oily/dirty.

Don't know what to say. I've experienced lag on my iPhone 6 running the latest iOS 8 build. I've also experienced freezes, twice (once with DropBox and once with Safari). I've also experienced lack of registered touches where I'll tap something and it won't actually open or do anything until I tap it again.

It happens rarely, mind you, but it exists. I think it's well known that iOS isn't lag-proof or freeze-proof, but more that iOS hides it very well with slower animations and whatnot.

But even beyond that, as I was saying before, it's not so much that it lags or freezes or whatever (which can happen on Android as well), it's more that the overall OS feels slow to use.

Still, these early reviews of the Nexus 6 have left me wanting more in the battery section. It has a huge battery and it's still all over the place. Other than that, the Nexus 6 looks great and it's something I would consider. I would just have to get used to/deal with the large size.

That 6-inch quad HD display must be why it's showing weaker battery performance compared to the "smaller" Note 4.

The ONLY thing I'd say is that Google usually get at least one or two major software updates out very quickly that fix most of the software-related complaints.

They did that with the Nexus 5 and I always regretted not giving it a bit more time (found the camera and speaker frustrating but in hindsight, I was hasty).

Let's see. Some of the reviews were using the "old" software anyway.

I could of swore I saw one of the Android sites tweet late Tuesday night that he got notification of a software update for the Nexus 6. Seems like Google did the same thing with the Nexus 9 - release software update a day before reviews come out.

Not only does the iPhone 6/iOS 8 lag once in a while, it's also overall just slow. The animations, the time it takes to get from app to app, the pathways to general and app settings (settings is a real mess in my opinion), trying to make text edits, scrolling through safari, Safari tab refreshes, Touch ID, etc. all make the overall user experience feel slow. Like molasses.
.

I'll agree that iOS 8.1 (even 8.1.1) has quite a few bugs and crashes on more than one occasion. But the experience has been anything but slow. When things work they work speedily.

Text edits/manipulation in iOS (and even WP) is also vastly superior to Android (One of the reasons i gave up on Android as a daily driver) in my experience, as is Safari scrolling compared to Chrome.

The only thing I find ironic about this is, someone posted the Nexus 6 camera shots and videos a few pages back and then everybody was going on about how it kills the iPhone in stills and videos. (It seems as though the Nexus can't do 1080 at 60fps which I rather it do than UHD)

The reviews all seem to state that the Nexus 6 has an average camera, still not up to the 6 and the Note 4 standards. Thought that was kinda funny.

That being said, Im hoping to pick up a new Nexus 5 for a steal but seems as though the prices rose lately.

Happy I have mine already, people say that iPhones keep value! I could probably sell my nexus for and only take a 50-75$ hit off retail price. 50-75$ would not even cover the sales tax on an iPhone where I live.

Safari scrolling is faster than Chrome? With the exception of tap to go back to the top (is that scrolling, though?) my experience between the two is different. I find scrolling on Chrome immensely faster than scrolling on Safari.

To be clear, I mean Chrome on Android.

I think text editing is slower because you have to always wait for the magnifying glass to come up to place your cursor in the right spot, whereas on Android, you get handle(s) that feel easier to move around and manipulate. The suggestion bar also feels a little slower on iOS.

I do, however, like how much easier it is to highlight text in iOS, though.

I think text editing is slower because you have to always wait for the magnifying glass to come up, or when editing words, there's no suggestion list like there is with the Android keyboard. I can't replace a word with another word as quickly as I can on Android. The suggestion bar also feels a little slower.

I do, however, like how much easier it is to highlight text in iOS, though.

So do I. And I find Safari faster and easier to scroll. Personally find Chrome to overshoot frequently when scrolling large blocks of text so I have to do things slower. And dragging selection pins in Android constantly gives me a headache.

But different strokes I guess...

Why do these threads always have to turn into a bunch people hating on every other phone they don't own or want? People prefer Samsung. Others prefer Apple, and other prefer Google nexus devices. If you are not interested in, or going to buy the N6. Why in the heck are you here? You guys are just being trolls. The Note 4 is a great phone. If you prefer it that is great, but don't come in here telling us how good it is. How it is so much better than the N6. Same for iPhone users. If you are only here to tell people how much you love the iPhone, and hate everything else. Just go. I don't get it. Why are you wasting your time here?

This should be a mandatory read before being able to post in any thread.

Nexus 6 speculation

Thanks Jamezr!

I know I have been guilty of this before, but I decided a long time ago. If the thread is about phone X. The discussion should be about phone X. If someone wants to questions specs, or performance. That is fine, but coming to the thread just to say how much their phone is. It's just crazy. We are mostly adults here, so let's starting acting like it.

This is the Nexus 6 thread. Let's try and keep it on the nexus 6. I feel like a MOD, but good gosh this thread has gotten out of hand. Just leave if you are just here to ague. We have enough of those threads.

Again we are basing our opinions of the Nexus 6 on reviews. No one in the general public have seen or played with this device. I hold a users thoughts of a phone way higher than payed reviewer.

While that may be true for opinions, quantifiable things like app launch time or battery life aren't going to differ between reviewers and real world users, assuming they did their tests properly.

Even the iPhone 6 with a much smaller battery beats the Nexus 6. Again, the Nexus 6 has THREE TIMES THE RAM.

What does battery life have to do with ram?

...yet outperforms devices with 3x the RAM.

One device. If there are others, call them out.

Man, I was all ready to sell my Nexus 5 and I see these poor reviews.

Poor reviews coupled with the fact that I can't buy the damn thing anywhere is making me lose interest (oh and the $650 price tag means I really need to want the phone to buy it).

Really disappointed.....maybe an update fixes the issues. I suppose by the time I'm able to get one, it could've had a bunch of updates - even in Google's update timeline....

I'm disappointed as well. I really wanted to get the white & 64GB but AT&T only has the 32GB and Midnight blue. Most of the reviews I've read are not good. Camera is not on par with the 6+ and Note 4. I guess I'll wait for Google to fix any issues before I get one. This is the only flagship phone that I can recall where most of the reviews are consistently poor.

The review on Forbes wasn't bad......

The thing that bugs me is how all the reviews point out it not being worth 650 when the device will be available on contract for 250. Not one peep about how the full price is still cheaper than the full price of its competitors...

Depends. From a Phablets stand point that is true, but it probably more compares to the HTC, iPhone 6, and other flagship's priced at $199 on contract and $650 off.

TechnoBuffalo gave it a 9/10. Jon Rettinger loved it. He said it was the best smartphone he has used to date. I am thinking some of these reviews either did not have the latest update, or they just wanted to hate the phone.

Glad about the on-contract pricing :)

Also good that only carrier apps are installed as "bloatware". I hate bloat either way, but anything non-carrier is worse than just the carrier apps.

No offense, but what are you talking about? I have read at least 20 reviews, and every single review was at least good. Some of the reviews fault the phone and one or two places, but the majority the reviews held the phone as one of the best phones out, with a few saying it is the best phone yet. I have a. It's 4....and I can wait to try this thing out...then I'll pick the one I prefer.

Nope. The Aanadtech review shows some worrying issues like poor NAND performance and a pink tinted screen plus a really slow camera.

Slow nand performance has been explained to be a result of encryption. The nexus five suffers the same on lollipop. Hopefully Google can fix this...or all phones will see a slow down.

Pink tinted screen....haven't seen that on any other review.

The camera has been a mixed bag, with more people praising it than not. Pit won't top the iPhone or note....but it is good, and will get better with updates...just like previous nexus devices, as well as previous Moto devices.

I am hearing the update from yesterday improved many aspects already. I would recommend reading a variety of reviews. Gsmarena, techno buffalo, the verge, endgadget, phone arena, etc.

Overall...it is getting favorable reviews. If people can handle the size...I doubt they will regret the purchase, I look forward comparing it to my note...just got to manage to get one....

I don't hink the reviews are bad. They're probably just not as good as everyone was hoping it would be given the price and given the perception that this would finally be the be-all and end-all of nexus phones. A nexus phone without any compromises at last. It's just not living up to that it seems.
