The 5.9" screen size rumors are older from like a month ago. And the more recent rumors from the past week or ten days say 5.2" screen.

And if the Nexus X is based off the upcoming Motorola X+1, that device is 5.2" screen, so makes sense the Nexus X will also be 5.2".

I can not see Google jumping all the way up from 5" to 5.9" no way. They typically go up .2" every year or so. Nexus 4 was 4.7", Nexus 5 was 5", and the Nexus X being 5.2" sounds realistic, and 5.9" seems out of character for a Nexus phone. Unless there will be two Nexus phones, a regular Nexus smartphone @ 5.2" and a Nexus Phablet @ 5.9"

According to happasaiyan on Android Central whose buddy is a Motorola tester, he seems to think that the device will be a 5.9" and what he says seems to be more or less confirmed, though of course we probably won't know for sure for about 2 months I gather.

Nexus X leak confirms monster specs and new Android L details
http://tktechnews.com/2014/08/25/more-nexus-x-screenshots/

The Nexus 6’s actual name, price and launch details may have just been revealed
http://bgr.com/2014/08/25/nexus-6-nexus-x-price-and-release-date/

New information revealing the Nexus 6 will actually be called the Nexus X. The phone should start selling this fall, before October, and could cost up to $499.99 in the U.S. and €419.99 in Europe.

TKTechNews has posted images showing two store listings that mentioned the Nexus X product name for the Motorola Nexus smartphone – which apparently is known internally as the XT1100. Fnac Portugal and Best Buy already have alleged Nexus X pages for the product that list the price of the device and specs.

Meanwhile, Phone Arena says it learned that Nexus X is currently the internal name for the Nexus 6, although Nexus X is also “most likely” to become to official name of the XT1100.

The publication says Google is avoiding the Nexus 6 name in order not to risk any legal troubles – the Nexus-6 is the name of androids in Philip K. Dick’s Do Androids dream of Electric Sheep? story which may be better known as Blade Runner to movie fans

5.9" really :( That really blows if true. I have owned four of the five Nexus phones, but 5.9" is just way out of my comfort level. I had the Note 2 couple years ago, and 5.5" felt too large for me, no way 5.9" will be easy.

Right now I am running an HTC One M8, converted to GPE, and this thing at 5" is nice, and I know due to the big speakers it's really the size of a 5.2" / 5.3" with narrow bezels. But that's my max I want, no way 5.9" will be good.

*shrug* Of course we won't know until the thing is released. If you didn't actually read the links you posted, the 5.9" was also listed in the reported Best Buy screenshot as well.

From a guy rumored to have seen the 5.9" Nexus X;
http://forums.androidcentral.com/nexus-6/417531-nexus-6-shamu-motorola-5.html

Any way I look at it, to me, a 6" phone is huge, especially when my DD is a Moto X. It was considerably bigger than a OnePlus One. Proportionally, though, it looks nice...Not like a Nexus 7 (2013) for instance.

The bezels really aren't bad, but yeah, it's impossible to use one handed.

----------

I am hoping this rumored 5.9" Motorola phone is something other than the Nexus X, maybe is one of the 8 new phones Motorola has coming out this Fall, could be their Phablet phone ?

I am still betting on the Nexus 6 smartphone being 5.2" screen, maybe 5.3". But that this 5.9" Motorola phone is something else, or maybe even Google's first Nexus Phablet to compete with the Galaxy Note 4. But that the main Nexus smartphone will be like 5.2" or so.

I am a HUGE Nexus fan, owned four of the five Nexus phones. But if the Nexus 6 is 5.9" NO WAY buying that, zero interest in something that large.

Another Nexus X article.....

http://bgr.com/2014/08/26/nexus-x-android-5-0-l/

Those specs look absolutely unreal....my biggest question is....why?

Funny, I see these comments every year right before a Nexus release. People read the rumored specs, and laugh and say no way will the new Nexus have these tops specs and still sell for only $399.

And yet, year after year they do.

Basically the Nexus phone nearly matches the Galaxy Note specs almost every year. The Galaxy Note 2 was released in September 2012, and the Nexus 4 in November 2012, and they both shared very close hardware. And then last year, the Note 3 in September 2013, and Nexus 5 October 2013, again, pretty much same specs.

Wait, what comment was that? I never said anything about price....only that the specs look outrageous for a smartphone. No app will come even close to utilizing that power.....complete overkill, so I asked why?

And "top specs" usually includes a sub-par camera and speakers/microphone.

I'm actually starting to move away from stock Android. I've always liked the cleanliness of it, but there's just too much that needs to be setup and tweaked. Problem is there aren't any skins that really blow me away either. Sense is the best IMO....I'd really like to pick up an M8 to dual boot WP and Android.

We'll see how Android L turns out. I'm sick and tired of the dev preview....in many ways its unusable. But I'm stuck with my Nexus 5 right now so I either need to live with it until September 19th or flash the latest build of Kit Kat

What in iOS is using the iPhone 5S' 64 bit architecture to its fullest intent at this point? And is it enough to justify the 64 bit processor right now? Aren't there articles out there that say many/most of the App Stores' apps don't even utilize in full iPhone's amazing A-processors? Is that overkill, too?

Because if I recall correctly, you've praised Apple for being forward thinking with the 64-bit.

I know, I am just talking the big specs, like processor and screen type.

Last year the Nexus 5 had a Snapdragon 800 and 1080p screen, besting the top flagships from Samsung the Galaxy S4, and HTC's top dog the One M7, which both had the older Snapdragon 600.

The Nexus 5 nearly matched specs with the then brand new Note 3 at the time, minus the camera and battery of course.

Furthermore, Jrswizzle, don't you hate when Samsung offers only half-baked features or features that clearly aren't ready to be used to their full intent and capacity? Pretty sure I've read such posts from you.

Yet, here you are being perfectly okay when Apple does it with the latest Siri voice activation feature that can only be used when plugged in the car:

Once they figure out how to implement it efficiently, they'll remove the restriction. Rare case of Apple putting the cart before the horse. Not necessarily a bad thing, as the key use is in the car and your phone is most likely plugged into your car system (they assume).

You're so very understanding!

$499 price tag makes me think it will be with a carrier or is that a far fetched thought?

$499 defeats one of the biggest strengths of the Nexus line which is a nice phone with top specs off contract at a great price.

Yes, the $499 is still cheaper than most big flagships but still is a bit pricey for their history.

Nexus X leaks again: Android 5.0 ‘Lemon Meringue Pie’ and Snapdragon 805 on board

I can't tell if the same rumor is going around, but this is the latest.

Nexus X will come with a 5.2” display, a Snapdragon 805 system chip, 13-megapixel camera, and - naturally - Android L.

Note that we've been hearing from our own sources that Google seems to have settled on a 5.9-inch display. Is this another Nexus, and could it be so that Google launches two Nexus phones this year? It's one possibility worth considering.

5.2 or 5.9... or both?!

And possibly a 64GB version?

I'm not the only one who said 64-bit was a good move. Numerous articles pointed out that various Android OEMs and the processor designers they utilize have been clamoring to build their 64-bit chips asap.

And you're right - nothing in the app store takes full advantage of the A7. So in what universe is a 2.7 GHz quad core processor with 3 GB of RAM necessary? Especially on a phone running stock Android (which is extremely light and efficient these days).

I wasn't saying anything negative....merely asking a question. Just somewhat shocking to me is all.

You want to find android-bashing in everything I post, but it's not there this time.

Ahh, gotcha. Yes, the Nexus 5 is quite the phone.

Should be interesting anyhow. Others seem to be under the impression I was somehow attacking the Nexus X and these specs. I was merely asking why go so far - especially if it means you have to raise the price (one of the big draws to the Nexus line).

You've answered that question well, thanks!

Honestly, I'm willing to shell out a higher price tag if it means there are no compromises.

I'm really excited about this year's Nexus because it's made by Motorola. They're the only Android OEM I've really enjoyed so far. While I'm hoping the price is kept as low as possible, I'm also okay with shelling out a little extra to get it right. Everything I've read of past Nexus devices seems to always have some caveat. The Nexus 5 seems to have battery and camera issues (again, from what I've read).

As an MX owner, I'm really keen on a better camera (the MX camera sucks majorly).

----------

Google could launch two Nexus smartphones this year

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Google-could-launch-two-Nexus-smartphones-this-year_id59889

As we learned, there is a 5.9-inch Moto S and a 5.2-inch model in testing and which one we see released will depend on the public reaction to the Moto X+1. According to a source close to the supply chain, Google may be cleaning up the unused devices. The main Nexus X is already set to be 5.9-inches, as we've stated before. But, word has it that if Motorola releases the 5.9-inch Moto S, Google may repurpose the 5.2-inch Moto S units as a second Nexus device.

Say what!

Too many conflicting reports on the Nexus-Six.

If it's releases is Halloween time, we usually don't get solid leaks until like 2 to 3 weeks beforehand. So looks like we gotta wait too early October before we can credible rumors.

I still think the Nexus 6 will be a 5.2" device, and there may be a 5.9" Nexus Phablet possibly.

If the Nexus X is truly device towards develpers then this makes a great deal of sense as $500 for a reference device is peanuts in the long run.

Next Nexus phone will be made by Motorola, likely named Nexus X
http://mobilesyrup.com/2014/08/25/next-nexus-phone-will-be-made-by-motorola-likely-named-nexus-x/

The device will be Motorola-made and that Google is planning a “secret launch” for the device around Halloween. The Nexus X name isn’t set in stone, but it’s what the phone is being referred to as internally and will “likely” be the final product name. The device is said to feature a 5.9-inch screen, which we’d heard before, but Phone Arena’s sources say we can also expect a 2560 x 1440 resolution, as well as a Snapdragon 805 chipset with a 2.7 GHz CPU, a 13MP camera in the back and a 2.1MP camera in the front.
