I wonder what the other colors will look like. More specifically, what color will that half panel be for the other color models? If that panel is black on all models...

The silver is just as hideous as the black. They had a HTC 10 design to follow. Why not follow Google's trend and move the FP on the back and make pretty much the HTC 10 5.5 model and call it a day?Interesting.
That's about the only response I can conjure up. The silver rendering looks even more so like a progression of the 6P's visor. They really liked that visor...

I wonder if the two tone design is over exaggerated on the render to protect their source?
Not an exact copy of the 10. But an all metal body with similar design trends. Then a 5.5 to 6 inch display and FP on the back. Why in the world would they do that???? What would be the point of another HTC 10 in the market?

Any chance it's some touch panel on the back? Or Google's own version of some form of Always on display?.
I'd like to see Google partner with Xiaomi and add the ~$180 Redmi Note 3 Pro (Snapdragon 650) or successor to the Nexus lineup. The specs are equivalent to the iPhone 6S Plus. This will likely be much more popular than the Nexus 6P which is priced too close to a much superior quality device like the Galaxy Note 5.

Some people are forgetting what happened when the Nexus 4 came out with an all glass back:

Former Googler Yogi Berra (just kidding. I don't remember his name exactly...) could make that happen with Google.
EDIT: It's Hugo Barra.

Purported Huawei Nexus (2016) photos leak, showcase its guts for everyone to see
Chances are pretty good that these are the real deal, as according to the source, the smartphone pictured here carries the code H1621 + H1622. Last year's Huawei Nexus 6P was marked H1511 + H1512. Sounds like the markings of a successor, no?
Hm. Straight up looks like the Honor 5X.
I'm skeptical of this leak. And if true, I guess Huawei is recycling old design...
The glass back on my Note 5 is freakin indestructible. I've changed it out a few times and you have to firmly push a screwdriver in there and run it across the back to get any kind of scratch. I've dropped it a few times on my nice hard porcelain kitchen floor as well. IMO if I'm going to drop the phone hard enough to crack the glass, then an aluminum back would have damage as well, maybe a dent or some serious scuffs/scratches.
Personally I'm puzzled at the love for aluminum phones. Antenna lines, no wireless charging, zero scratch durability, etc. If it's just for the aesthetics then I understand, even if I don't think any aluminum phone (except iphone) looks particularly nice. I do think my naked Note 5 looks/feels much better than anything out there with a case or skin..

Nice you have had that personal experience, not always the case:

Solid phone for sure, but there are compromises with a glass back.

Yeah, that is exactly an Honor 5X. However, if they take one and call it a Nexus, then this basically a GPE of the Honor 5X. I like the design of the HTC leaks way more, but this is awesome that Huawei has a relationship with Google and can continue a Nexus line like this for those who like their phones but don't want MIUI.
I agree, the glass back may be more prone to damage from a fall. But at the same time that aluminum back will most likely get dented, scuffed or scratched. I'd also be hesitant to accept just one or 2 isolated tests as gospel. I've dropped my Note 5 rather badly on hard surfaces, including flat on its back and once right on the corner. Yeah I'd rather have a dent than a cracked back, no argument there. But I also enjoy the extreme durability of a glass back versus everyday scratching, keys in my pocket, sliding it around on a desk, etc etc. I haven't seen an aluminum phone which wouldn't scratch if I just looked at it.
I still think the positives far outweigh the negatives, but of course that's my personal opinion only. What will be ironic is if the iphone 8 does have a glass back, which some rumors point to, suddenly it will be the greatest invention and no one else will make aluminum phones.
For me the glass feels like nothing else. From the first glass iphones to the S7e. It just feels premium in the hand.I find glass -- well designed -- looks and feels more premium than aluminium.
If Apple truly goes all glass back panel in 2017, I guess it'll be considered premium again.
Personally I think polycarbonate is the most sensible material for a phone. But it is not "premium".

But I do like metal phones as well.
