Holy cow, those Nexus renders showing one of the ugliest devices I have seen for a long time...
They look like a mediocre smartphone from 2011

yeah that's pretty bad, they remind me of the first Moto G which was one of the m ost budget phones around.

Someone made more renders of the purported Nexus design in different colors: http://www.droid-life.com/2016/07/08/nexus-2016-color-renders/

Those are awesome. Can't wait.

Former Googler Yogi Berra (just kidding. I don't remember his name exactly...) could make that happen with Google.

EDIT: It's Hugo Barra. :)

Purported Huawei Nexus (2016) photos leak, showcase its guts for everyone to see

Chances are pretty good that these are the real deal, as according to the source, the smartphone pictured here carries the code H1621 + H1622. Last year's Huawei Nexus 6P was marked H1511 + H1512. Sounds like the markings of a successor, no?

Hm. Straight up looks like the Honor 5X.

I'm skeptical of this leak. And if true, I guess Huawei is recycling old design...

Public service announcement: this is a Huawei / Honor 5X with TracFone branding. Resume your Friday. #notanexus

I like metal phones fine, too.

I feel like glass looks and feels better, and when well designed, can look more sophisticated and classy. Colors tend to look nicer, too, with glass, in my opinion.

Not to mention more functionality. Wireless charger, for one example.

Holy crap those have got to be the ugliest phones ever. My gosh hope they don't end up looking like that.

Whatever happened to the rumored Huawei Nexus 7P ?

I read rumors of a next gen 6P, pretty much the same phone just with current flagship hardware inside, and better camera, and new screen.

Well the Huawei Nexus was seemingly confirmed but we've had very little physical evidence of it.

Indeed the whole nexus arrangement this year is very mysterious with HTC supposedly having two, and HUAWEI seemingly confirming they are still doing Nexus.

I would be cool with the larger new Nexus being a Huawei Nexus 7P, and then have HTC make a high end Nexus at 5"

Yeah they are fugly to say the least. If HTC is going to market with those designs they are not doing the Nexus line any favors.
I would love to see a Huawei 7p instead. Make a few minor changes and it's a real winner!

Happens every Nexus release. People call them ugly on leaks. They are released and everyone wants one. Rinse repeat.

Didn't happen with the HTC 10 though. That was as ugly on release as the leaks showed, and I don't think it's selling well.

You think the HTC is ugly?? I think it a work of art honestly. Never had a phone that looked or felt so good. That and the 6P knocked it out the park. And the HTC Nexus will do the same.

And no, the Nexus won't sell Samsung or Apple numbers. No one is expecting it to and it won't be because of how it looks.

Just my personal opinion, but yeah I think the HTC 10 is fugly, thick, those chamfers look silly and the bezels are nothing to write home about. It would have been mediocre looking even in 2012, which is where it seems to have gotten its style from. I think the 6p is much better looking, but am not really particularly impressed with the 6p either. IMO we'll see more boring Huawei and/or HTC stuff this year as well. Not just boring, but full of the usual compromises the nexus line always has. My only hope is that Google grows a pair and releases a high end flagship themselves.

Yeah I guess I just like function over fashion. Those chamfers and bezels makes the phone so nice to hold. I'm not out to impress anyone with a pretty phone that I can barely hold onto when I use it.

If new Nexus looks like those renders.....it will sell about as well as the HTC 10 too...

Why would I care how it sells? And I making profits? Does it make me like the HTC 10 less because I don't have confirmation of popularity from others around me? You are so strangely obsessed with corporate profits?

You are in straight defensive mode since all the Samsung bad news today. It is a little sad actually.

Cross out these Nexus devices for me this year. After comparing battery life of all iPhones, Samsung Galaxies for S/Note/Edge, and the Nexus fam, I came to the conclusion the Nexus is an overrated product line. I don't need to keep posting the GSM Arena battery pix although I have it all saved on my Notes app in another phone. It can still be found in my previous posts from yesterday.

Not ONE Nexus device went 10-10 hrs for web and video. My cheap phones surpassed all eight of them. They don't score high for photos. They are no longer cheap. They still don't sell. They only get 18 months of updates. I also saw the renders and it went the WTH is that on the back? Better luck next year, HTC. I hope Google makes their own phone. If you can install your own custom ROMS, Nexus really isn't worth getting. Just get a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge.

With that all said, still looking forward to tasting Nougat.

But I didn't get a Nexus for battery life I got it because just about every ROM is available for them.

What was it at launch $699?

I think $549? .... maybe $599.

I do forget MacRumors is not a development community, but it is just silly how many here are "disappointed" in the Nexus line while they sit there with their locked $800 smartphones. Then they go on to love how open Android is, but say stock is boring. And it just goes right over their heads that with a truly open phone , like the Nexus, you can make it whatever you want it to be.
