Yeah, I haven't really noticed... but I agree, those Android N notifications look sort of more cluttered and less organized.

The cards in MM helped them look cleaner.

Depends on the amount of notifications you get. When I wake up in the morning, the bundled notifications are just purely awesome.

That and the reply in the shade are very nice improvements for me.

Been a while since I have used iOS so I apologize. But yeah I am really not liking the notifications on N. It looks "prettier" but its harder to read which defeats the purpose IMO.

My notifications are still separated on N, but I'm only on the 4th dev so not sure if anything changed. In N they are separated by a grey line, where in marshmallow they do look more like cards because the seperator is transparent, but it's really the same thing.

I do ding Google MAJOR points for abandoning a dark theme, wtf? It would be ironic if Apple did indeed release a dark theme and Google did not.

I am on the 4th too and like you mentioned it's just a grey line. Its not a major drawback for me but I just don't like it at the moment. However I may end up liking it after a few weeks (been on N for only 3 days thus far).

YES! Been wanting a dark theme! Not sure why Google is so reluctant in pushing it through in a final build.

I'm pinning my hopes on the Nexus to fill my tech lust this fall. So far I'm not enamoured about anything else so it looks like I'll be hoping Google and HTC manage to provide the goods. I'd settle for my HTC 10 running pure stock if I could.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I've been using iOS 10 for the last couple of days and it has really left me with a "meh" feeling. It's pretty much more of the same. Nothing I HAVE to have. And the iPhone 7 rumors don't leave me too excited at this point. I'm thinking about using an HTC 10 and wait for the next Nexii phones. Android seems like it's moving in a better direction for me right now, as a whole.

Yeah knowing that I will be getting iOS 10 on my SE & iPhone 6S+ and the relative incremental hardware change that iPhone 7 represents just isn't selling me on spending €950 again.

I have no issues with things like speed / performance or ram issues - they are still up there with the newest 2016 android devices in day to day usage. Likewise the camera is still holding strong. The 1080p 401ppi screen is bright, clear and sharp on the 6S+ and holds up as well the best on Android despite 2k resolutions. (2k AMOLED 580ppi screens by factoring in the Pentile array is actually closer to 400 affective ppi anyway)

No the biggest things needed are for the 4.7" iPhone.

Significantly better battery life
A step upwards in resolution from 326 ppi to somewhere above 400 ppi
Camera hardware stabilisation

Oh and no more 16gb ever again.

I'm sure we will see an end to 16gb iPhones, and perhaps camera OIS stabilisation on all models - but I'm not sure by making it thinner we will see any battery life improvements or likewise a screen resolution increase in the smaller or larger device.

So it's just your usual updated CPU and possibly ram, and cameras alongside a thinner chassis - at the expense of the headphone jack and likely why we see a bigger camera hump (if device is thinner the hump may have grown which explains the new shaped hump).

Just nothing to me that's worth upgrading for this year.

Well you might just be getting your wish:

full-metal device with no camera bump at the back and that it looks a bit like the HTC 10, but with a fingerprint scanner on the rear.

Actually, I'm more than a little bit afraid that this time we'll break the 1000€ barrier for a usable configuration. I really do hope that the 16GB nonsense is history as my 16GB 6s from work is borderline unusable if I forget to empty the camera roll every single night.

Then again, regarding the actual topic my Nexus 5X is way too slow compared to my iPhone 6s, so if the new Nexus delivers, I might be tempted to upgrade.

Unless you want to unlock the device without picking it up... I do it countless times every day.

Thats true ... However what I used on my 6P was smart unlock based on location, so when it detected home/ofice it circumventred the fingerprint lock.

I've always been against the whole rear positioning, but I haven't actually used one on the back before, so I can't say much. But for now, I'm happy with the position on my S6 Edge+.

I really liked the 6P scanner, but then have no issues with the iPhone / HTC / Samsung front ones either.

My S6 Edge+ used to be extremely inconsistent, but now it gives me nearly 100% accuracy. It's odd, but appreciated.

So if its sitting on a desk you had to use the power button to turn it on and then swipe to unlock?

New render. Apparently accurate.

HTC Nexus Marlin render: this is what the phone will allegedly look like

Neither render is perfect, but I much prefer this latest one to the ones we saw before -- the half and half design.

I hope the smaller of the Nexus device isn't the half/half design, and the bigger is the HTC 10-ish design. That would suck for all those of us who prefer the smaller device. =X
