Has there been any developments in terms of potential release date or schedule for these new Nexus phones? I keep hearing/reading speculation that it might be earlier this year than in previous years. And since the V20 is shipping with Nougat, does that mean the Nexus devices are around the same time frame?

Any news out there?

Latest rumors say Oct. 4, but who knows how plausible they may be. I'm kind of surprised Google/HTC doesn't move their schedule up to beat the iPhone release. But I guess HTC isn't the best decision making company. http://pocketnow.com/2016/08/03/htc-nexus-release-date-rumored-to-be-october-4

It seems odd to me that Google is releasing Nougat on Aug 5th but no new Nexus device to show it off on. Just seems weird to me. If stick to Oct rumored release they will get brushed aside by the iphone tidal wave.

The iPhone is really like Daisuke Matsuzaka now. A hyped Boston Red Sox signing that looked good initially, but then fizzled out. I wouldn't want it to be a "tidal wave," but their consumers spend lavish $ to get their "it works" device, but in reality, it's a tough way to explain why it's objectively better. Until the iPhone catches up, it's going to be a tough reason to justify it. I made a mistake of purchasing a 6S Plus over a 6+. 3D Touch is really useless. 4K camera is solid, but surpassed by many. 2GB of RAM adds more to Safari performance. But was that worth the extra $ I dropped, hell no. The only iPhone worth a damn to me is the SE, but it's too damn small and insignificant for me to purchase.

The Nexus might have everything beat on the iPhone 7 but water resistance and processor.

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Goog...-7.0-Nougat-Snapdragon-820-4GB-of-RAM_id84017

Google Nexus Sailfish goes through AnTuTu and Geekbench with Android 7.0 Nougat, Snapdragon 820, 4GB of RAM

Both tests are in line with previous rumors about screen resolution and SoC, and suggest 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory on board the Google Nexus Sailfish. The front-facing camera is an 8 MP shooter, while the rear one is 13 MP. The Android version running on the Sailfish is listed as “Android NMR1” – Android Nougat Manufacturer Release 1 – which is in line with previous expectations. The Geekbench test reveals that the CPU powering the Sailfish will be a quad-core Snapdragon 820, clocked at 1.59 GHz.

If Google didn't take their merry ole time with the 2016 Nexus devices, I would've gone for Marlin.

Merry ole time ?

Nexus phones are known to always come out like Oct / Nov. Every year the same.

This year will be faster sooner than ever, release in September

It's an expression and my inability to wait because I need a phone now rather than waiting two months by borrowing someone's Nexus 5X. I know my specs are better than Sailfish. In addition, I'll have a near stock experience. I don't think I'll need Wifi Calling for now. If not, I'll flip my OP3 for a Nexus 6P or 2016 by Black Friday.

Ughhh, why is that bottom bezel so freakin huge? Good news is the top bezel looks slimmed down, but I'm not sure the pic makes sense because no one does offset top/bottom bezels like that, even though personally I think it makes sense if you have a fp reader on the front. Unless it's just the angle that's throwing me off. It looks quite thick/chunky as well. This definitely my suspicion HTC would make a fugly phone like the 10.

Another positive is the glass upper back, as I'm hoping that means wireless charging, although it seems like a small area for that. I'm getting fed up with these metal phones which can't do wireless charging, it's 2016 not 2012.

It's a terrible leak, but that aside, it could also be a terrible design, too.

Just doesn't look promising.

Well that would be a disappoint if it does have that big chin. This is the smaller nexus right?

you would think at this point Google or HTC would release (not officially of course) better pictures than the ones we are seeing. Those bad pictures are only going to scare potential customers away.

Yep.

So I guess the smaller one could be based off the a9 design and the larger one could be based off the HTC 10 design?

Don't know.

Good point.

Either way, my feelings grow more and more tepid for this year's Nexus. There's little to go on now, of course, so we'll see.

[doublepost=1471351865][/doublepost]Duo is out. Anyone trying it?

Feedback looks positive so far.

I wouldn't mind the HTC 10 design on the bigger nexus. Not a fan of the A9 design. The only way I would feel good about it is if it had capacitive buttons.

Wouldn't it have been a better idea to base both phones off the htc10 design? Perhaps Google doesn't want that?
