This is true innovation... machine learning at its finest. This is not gimmicks like everyone else is chasing.
[doublepost=1475597811][/doublepost]Now can people quit complaining about SMS in Allo? The whole point is to feed Google Assistant. SMS is so archaic when you think about that concept. If they ever do it, it should just be a tack on feature. It has truly changed the way I communicate and SMS would only hinder that.
[doublepost=1475597933][/doublepost]HERE WEEEEEE GOOOOOOOOOOOO
[doublepost=1475597989][/doublepost]Beautiful.... I almost teared up a bit.

Close my eyes and replace 'Pixel' with 'iPhone' and I could easily be listening to an Apple Keynote. Jeez...even a 'top 5' list.

To be clear...I'm still quite excited about all of this. :D

Not happy with the price, but someone in marketing thinks that if you want to be considered a top tier phone, you need to charge like one. And honestly, it might just work. The general public is pretty dumb. We will see where it goes.

I think it might have worked if it had some sort of pull to it. I know certain people are going to be extremely angry with me, but I'm sorry it just looks like a mid grade Chinese phone. Xiaomi or ZTE could have done a better job. There is just nothing there that will really pull a consumer in and make them buy the phone. Price can be a pull certainly, but not if overpriced like this.

I also don't think the openness of Google's Android will be a factor. The consumers who are looking for that will be the ones who order from Google directly, not the ones who pass by Verizon in the mall. Speaking of that, Verizon will ruin that openness no doubt. Will they put bloatware on it? Will they change Google functions on it? Will their version require a carrier specific OS update? We don't know yet, but a good sign is there is no Verizon branding on the phone.

I do agree the general public is pretty dumb, and I don't mean that in a derogatory way, more so they are ignorant to technology. But the general public is also cheap, and won't spend money unless they see value, or unless they are fooled with something shiny.

So the built in google assistant, what does that mean? Is there a hardware chip that handles that or something? Or does it just mean it integrates more deeply with Nougat, and does that mean other Android phones will get it anyway?

Funny how the only devices compared to are iPhones or their own...no other Android phones. ;)

Lol yeah. Given DXO gave the HTC10 a great score (top with S7) despite crappy bug ridden software that wasn't fixed whilst they were testing, I remain skeptical of their marking. The only thing we can take from this score is that it should be a decent camera, but the best will remain questionable.

That being said depending on price and availability I'll likely be getting a pixel ...

This really is like watching the Bizarro version of an Apple Keynote. Personally, love it.

Yeah, I'm fairly certain I'm getting a Pixel. I've been waiting for a Google counterpart to the iPhone--now if they could just get out the rumored Pixel 3 I'll be making a full switch from Apple.

Still doesn't come close to Samsung's S4 launch. Now that was bizarro 101
[doublepost=1475599258][/doublepost]The Pixel being exclusive to Verizon gives me horrible flashbacks of the Galaxy Nexus. It just does....

Wtf google ? No Ireland for launch or pre-order despite you selling across the border and despite you having your HQ here .... sooo annoying. So essentially won't be getting a pixel anytime soon after all.

I just hope the camera app isn't slow on the Pixel. My 6p takes great pictures but good luck taking a few successive pics quickly... turn on HDR and it slows down even more.

I'm curious if Google will allow Verizon's branding / bloatware or if they'll actually pull an Apple and keep VZW crap off the phone...

Have to say...so far I'm more interested in the VR headset than I expected. Great idea to have a spot to store the remote--Apple could certainly learn from that (<cough>Pencil<cough>)
