Man I wish there was an official iVR (or whatever the hell Apple would call it) for the iPhone. I've played with the Gear VR
I just hope the camera app isn't slow on the Pixel. My 6p takes great pictures but good luck taking a few successive pics quickly... turn on HDR and it slows down even more.

I'm curious if Google will allow Verizon's branding / bloatware or if they'll actually pull an Apple and keep VZW crap off the phone...

Hope Google does that. Hell I'm still annoyed that Samsung hasn't done that

Been holding off on switching to a mesh wifi solution like Eero and so glad I did--$299 for Google Wifi 3 pack vs. $499 for Eero.

Man...my credit card is going to take a beating very shortly.

Pixel XL...check.
Google Daydream View...check.
Google Home....check.
Google Wifi...check, check, check.
Chromecast Ulta...check.

I don't normally get phones from the launch, and tbh, I am still happy with my Nexus 6, but, it is nearly 2 years old, so good enough excuse to change to a Pixel XL..

They are making a huge deal out of the lack of a camera bump, but IIRC, the bump is there to allow the extra space for optical stabilization, which the Pixel doesn't have, according to Verge.

I'm also confused by this, I'd MUCH rather have a thinner phone with a camera bump. What's the big deal though, why do people care about the camera bump? I wonder if Apple or Samsung will make a big deal out of not having an ugly half glass/metal back.

Theyvdo have optical image stabilization based on what I've read. Hmm.

Wow, another dumb Verizon exclusive like the Galaxy Nexus back in 2011. WTF Google ? Either put it on all the major carriers, or none at all. I hate Verizon with a passion, total Nazi company, that F's with the updates, and isn't the same as the pure version bought directly from Google. Would love to have seen the Pixel XL on T-Mobiles JoD ( Jump on Demand ) program.

Oh well, there's no way in hell I'll pay $800+ for this thing. That's just so anti-Nexus. I was very comfortable buying my Nexus 6P for $499 64GB model, great phone for a great price. But not a chance spend $800 on the Pixel. Hell no.

This phone will be the major sales flop of 2016.

Whoa...missed that in presentation. No OIS? Jeez, if true, that sucks. Hell, even the iPhones both now have OIS.

The value for money proposition is just absent.The IP rating doesnt match the iPhone.No Front Speakers.The SD821 will roughly be equivalent to an Apple A9.A low res 1080P display.Massive Bezels.The finger print sensor looks like they took the iPhone home button and pasted it on the back.No OIS.Verizon Exclusive.And to top it off they charge as much as an iPhone.DOA phone.I am missing the Nexus series already :(

This is true innovation... machine learning at its finest. This is not gimmicks like everyone else is chasing.
[doublepost=1475597811][/doublepost]Now can people quit complaining about SMS in Allo? The whole point is to feed Google Assistant. SMS is so archaic when you think about that concept. If they ever do it, it should just be a tack on feature. It has truly changed the way I communicate and SMS would only hinder that.
[doublepost=1475597933][/doublepost]HERE WEEEEEE GOOOOOOOOOOOO
[doublepost=1475597989][/doublepost]Beautiful.... I almost teared up a bit.

The whole point of SMS is that you don't have to get one more app and sign up for one more thing. You can answer SMS these days on your computers and tablets. Allo is a not-really cross platform solution that people are eating up.

The whole idea, again, is to use and feed google assistant. Not to make an iMessage or SMS competitor. Desktop app is coming the developers have already said. Once people see how awesome Google Assistant is integrated in conversations, I do think the app will become more popular.

It is up.... Project Fi has free VR with the XL preorder. Is that on the Google Store as well? I had to drop off the live stream.

Yeah, already started---ordered both Pixel XL and Google Home. Getting ready to cut the cord as well so my family better be ready to embrace the Google/Android ecosystem a bit more as we're going to be using Chromecasts for just about everything.

People should really be careful before they do this. Their apps have generally been through their bloated Chrome browser, not native. That means anyone with a laptop will have that extra power drain. It also means people have to use their crappy browser. Not to mention this could, and likely will, have the same end as Google Reader.

Why do people eat up every new messenger, push their family and friends to it, and then do the same when the next new hotness comes out?

None of this is even talking about the fact that early reports are that assistant in Allo kind of pants.

Really, no OIS? Is that confirmed?
