This phone will be a monumental sales fail. Absolutely no way they gonna sells millions of these, with the starting price of $769.00 for the base model, LOL, not gonna happen.

And then just put it out on one carrier only, and probably the worst evil carrier out there in Verizon. Plus you know it will just sit in some back dark corner in the Verizon store, with none of the sales staff pushing it over the iPhone 7 or Galaxy 7's.

Even Best Buy never actually carries the Nexus phone at those little kiosk displays, you still need to order it online only through bestbuy.com. And I don't see Best Buy truly promoting this phone, and actually having it in stock to pick up and hold and purchase right there on the spot ? Nope.

I'll be shocked if the Pixel XL sells more units than the Motorola Nexus 6, which was a pretty big sales flop itself.

I am no iPhone guy, but this new Pixel phone launch is pissing me off, and I'm sad to see the Nexus line disappear. I may just go with a 7 Plus on JoD @ T-Mobile, and try out iOS 10. At least Apple supports their phone properly.

Bye Felicia. I am pretty sure your JOD wasn't doing anything for Google and they don't care. Probably why they avoided Tmo actually.

You're right. But this is a company that has done software great. Heck, I'd argue that they did great hardware with the Pixel line so far. But none of that says they can design a phone that will both be inspired and work well. That's a lie. Looking at their phone, we know they don't have an inspired design for their phone.
This reminds me of how Microsoft fans received the Lumia 950 and 950 XL in comparison to the Lumia 1520 that came before it.This is EXACTLY the same scenario.

So it is actually worse than both a Samsung Galaxy S7 and worse than an iPhone 7 all in a single bound?

You are forgetting one thing... Google Customer Service. Easily worth the money over any carrier or Samsung customer service.

Yup.Cant see any reason why anyone would buy this when the Galaxy S7 Edge exists. The Note 7 absolutely wrecks it.The iPhone 7 Plus will destroy it in battery life and camera. The iPhone 7 has OIS and arguably a better design as this design is a copy of it just without the home button.I cant believe this is the same Google which designed my Nexus 5.

So I should get a replacement for a phone I just got yesterday when there's a great chance that the next one will do the same thing? No. Thank. You. I'm out.

Welcome to reality. iPhone as great as it is is made by people and defects happen. Get a replacement and stop crying me a river. With your attitude towards things it seems you will be out in general in no time.

I have poor memory. How did that go for them?
Many left the ecosystem because of it.The ones who remained are waiting for the Surface Phone by Panos Panay. He is the only person who designs products which rival Apple and Samsung while retaining their original design ethos

I'm very sad that this is the 2016 Google phone/Nexus replacement.

I'd love to sell my S7 and have pure Android Nougat, but I'm not going to give up OIS, waterproofing, wireless charging, and 1440 display for it.

Daydream View sounds cool, but I'm not thrilled with VR at 1440 Pentile on my S7. They're not advertising this as full RGB stripe or Super AMOLED plus, which means it's Pentile. 1080 Pentile will be annoying for VR.

This should be a $399 phone.

The only thing on that list that isn't a gimmick to me is the OIS. The rest mean little to nothing to me. I've had a 6s Plus for 10 months and the only things on that list that I have are OIS and 3D Touch. I barely use 3D Touch so losing that means nothing to me. And I won't keep a phone passed one year anyway. Looks good to me!

I take back what I said.I thought Apple was the only company in the industry who only cared about profit margins and not customer satisfaction.Looks like Google just surpassed em.This phone is worse than the 16GB crap Apple pulled for years

I'm pretty well aware of what reality is. And the reality is that there are serious issues with the iPhone 7. And they aren't being talked about because of the media fear of Apple. And Apple won't do anything about it. Like they aren't with touch disease. This isn't just a manufacturing defect. I'm not playing Russian Roulette with an $1100 phone. I'll return it and try something in the Google ecosystem. If the Pixel isn't worth the money to me, I'll go for a cheaper Android phone like the OP3 or Honor 8.

Agreed. The big problems with this phone are (in no particular order): Hardware design, OIS, price.

I do agree that the hardware is a little "meh", mostly because it doesn't stand out, but it does look like a solid premium phone. I am not a fan of missing OIS, but I'll check it out first to see if I have issues once I use it. And the price is tough to swallow. The total package is what sold me. And the jump towards more immersive AI. But I was already paying more for an iPhone 7 Plus, so it's pretty much a wash. If it doesn't work out for me, I will gladly return it and look for something else.

If I was in the market for a high end smart phone I'd probably pick this one but I'm not sooo I'll just install Nougat and the pixel lanuncher and pretend :)

I was actually hoping for a google branded smart watch since I've been itching for some sleep tracking so I guess I'll pick up a Moto instead

For me personally, the cost is considerably less thanks to the included unlimited full resolution Google Photos. I'd need to spend $10/month ($240 over 2 years) to cover my entire photo/video library on either platform so the Pixel is considerably cheaper than an iPhone or Samsung device, at least for me.

Nice plus for some of you, I already use OneDrive which includes MS Office and storage for all my PC's/tablets and all my family for cheaper so it's not a plus for me. But I can appreciate that it would help some out. But Google having my pictures scares the crap out of me. I briefly used Google photos to back up my camera roll and was VERY disturbed to have personal pics of me being posted publicly on Google+ and also in search engine results. I never consented to them being public, they just defaulted to that and I didn't even find out until years later. Of course I blame myself more than anyone else as I should have configured and made sure they were private, but it scared me for sure.

Yeah their strategy is extremely odd. They are acting like a hardware company similar to Apple, who makes their money off of hardware sales. But their company strategy is largely to sell as many devices as they can to capture eyeballs. Add to that the horrible pricing and giving it to Verizon, the worst of the worst and I just can't for the life of me understand what strategy they could possibly have. With even phones like the HTC 10 majorly flopping, and that had the carriers full support for a little while and a slightly better price, better specs/OIS, how the heck does Google even think this won't flop?

Underwhelmed and disappointed with the Pixel. From the design, to the lack of features, to the price.

I honestly don't know if I would would pick this phone over the iPhone 7 if I had to purchase one.

Yeah, I use OneDrive as well, thanks to my Office 365 subscription. I'm a little paranoid about having my entire family photo library backed up so presently have it in 5 cloud storage solutions (pay for Apple and technically, OneDrive) as well as 3 local storage options. I'm ready to dump Apple's solution since it's so locked down and use Google as my primary.

Wow that's a lot of fail safe!! I don't blame you, I get worried about my data at times as well.

So if someone can share, please do.

I've got the cash to purchase the new Pixel XL, I got the new phone itch, said F it, let's do it, I went to the Google page, clicked through the options, got it ready to place the order, and then that $769.00 price was just staring me in the face, and I just couldn't pull the trigger, just can't justify to spend $800 on a new phone. Plus I already have the Nexus 6P 64GB and I'm very satisfied with it still, running Pure Nexus ROM.

If the new Pixel XL was similar priced to last years 6P, I'd have pre-ordered it A.S.A.P. at like $550. But $800, I can't do that on principle. That's a very anti-Nexus price for me IMO.
