I use both Pixel XL and IP7+. I find both run fairly close to each other until you start browsing. Chrome is still crappy, especially compared to Safari. In addition, iOS still has a smoothness that Android has yet to duplicate. Pixel is as close as they've gotten.
Try this on both phones.....open messages on the 7+ and messager on the Pixel. Pick a text conversation that has a lot of history......now scroll through them on both phones from latest message to the very first message....... The Pixel just scrolls through all the texts and doesn't stop or hesitate. The 7+ stops every now and then to load text messages. For me i find the Pixel just as smooth as my 7+

Open Chrome.

Anyone having a persistent issue where "Can't reach your feed at the moment" is always displayed over on the "Now" cards?

I haven't really experience these Chrome issues that people are talking about. At least I haven't really noticed Chrome acting slower than Safari.

I will say that overall I do prefer Safari but I don't dislike Chrome by any means. Not enough to temper my enjoyment of the Pixel XL.

How is the Nexus 6P on Nougat? Is it as smooth as the Pixel?
No. Ran them side by side and the Pixel is another level of smooth. That's the story compared with most phones though.

The 6P can surely benefit from a bit more optimising and if you've never used a Pixel, you'll likely not think it's anything but great. The 6P battery life took a whack on Nougat which was obvious. Again, Pixel Doze is phenomenal up against anything else Android. Sure you could mod/root/disable your way to something better but why bother?

it's terrible compared to Safari or it's iOS counterpart. I browse a lot, it's distracting after a point.
I haven't had any issues with Chrome.....I use it on all my Android phones and all of my Apple devices as well....imac rMBP....ipads, iphones....works really well for me. I hate Safari.....

I notice a big difference between Chrome on my Note 5 and the Samsung browser, Chrome is horrible on it but it seems fine on my other devices(even low end)

I can't wait for the second generation pixel to right the wrongs of this generation.

But then where will both Samsung and Apple be by then? With both of them offering curve/edge displays, will the second generation Pixel keep up and have curved screens too?

Chrome works just fine on the Pixel. I've yet to see solid examples of why Chrome is so awful

I have experienced a few websites that simply refuse to load page elements - making them essentially inaccessible on Chrome on Android. But it is limited to just a few websites - I end up just using the mobile app for the website / company instead. Other than those instances that is the only problem I have had with Chrome.

This I will agree with. Chrome was a bit laggy when I had the S7E. I just figured it was a Samsung issue, especially since it's so smooth on the Pixel.

Chrome on IOS is not really Chrome. Its Safari skinned.

The design is not the best. For some reason google went with the iPhone size bezels which apple is reducing in the 8.

I do agree about the design overall. It's definitely not the first phone you're going to pull out and flaunt based on design alone. Not ugly, but just not Galaxy S7 Edge pretty.

Funny thing, I love the bottom bezel as a place to rest my thumb without accidentally hitting a button. Maybe in future versions, they can put a speaker down there to at least utilize it better.

I really like the look of the edge but Samsung's software turns me off.

I recently was helping a co-worker set up his new Moto G 4 Play edition. Its stock Marshmallow I think and the UI is easy to use, clean and has almost no bloatware. I imagine the Pixel is even better. Stock Android is great, google is doing a fantastic job there.

Now that Google is in the hardware game, I do hope they can keep up with Apple and Samsung's hardware prowess. Google certainly has the software-side down. The Pixel launcher + Nougat is an absolute joy to use. Better than both TouchWiz and iOS.

Google has the software.

Samsung has the hardware.

Apple has a healthy mix of both with superior presence and customer service.

The premium space is a heck of a playing field.

Who actually makes the hardware of the Pixel?
