Why is it so hard to change this phone to vibrate only? Where is the simple toggle for sound/vibration? Like the one in Touchwiz. Do not disturb doesn't seem to have a "set to vibrate only" option, does it?

Some things about Google's decisions are seriously questionable. And if there's no solution other than, press the volume down hardware key, and if it's not on the correct sound profile while you're doing that, you have to pull down the menu to get to the sliders, if that's the only way, it's downright idiotic.

I have to admit I have loved the switch on the iPhone ever since it's inception, it's just perfect to flick it to put your phone on vibrate.

Another oddity:

How the heck do you change the date/weather widget so it remains permanently one or the other? It sometimes shows date, sometimes the weather. I've updated my pixel launcher already. No way to control this?

I knock iOS for its many inconsistencies. Google is racking up a few too.

And still no native battery percentage.

Just perplexing, Google.

Pixel does have native battery % it's a number inside the battery icon, also not sure about that as mine has stayed as weather since I set it as weather!

I spoke to google about my dodgy charger and they are getting back to me, not sure if they can send me a new one as I bought it from Carphone Warehouse rather than the Google Store.

How did you set it to weather?

Good luck with Google. Hope it works out.

I updated too. My weather/date switches back and forth.

Anyone know how to keep it one or the other? It's obnoxious.

Since you updated the Pixel launcher, I think it's based on if you have location enabled. if you disable location then it won't show the weather.

I see. Thank you. I definitely want to leave location services on. I guess I'll just have to accept the weather widget. I'd love for it just to remain on the date.

Why Google doesn't let us just choose what we want to set is downright perplexing.

Ditto the inability to immediately switch to vibrate-only. This one blows my mind.

Battery % is turned on through System UI tuner.

To enable System UI Tuner, pull down your notification shade and long-press on the Settings gear icon for up to 5 seconds. Once you let go, you should see a pop-up with the message “Congrats! System UI Tuner has been added to Settings.” And as that message suggests, you can head into settings, scroll to the bottom, and find an option for System UI Tuner.

Thanks. System UI Tuner is pretty neat.

The battery percentage in the battery icon is a no go. I'll just use a battery app. And the fact that this option is hidden, too -- ugh, Google does weird things.

Google fobbed me off saying I had to go back to Carphone Warehouse about the charger.. Does anyone know another charger that works with Pixel rapid charging?

Actually the weather app is pretty great. Just hope it stays.

I still can't believe there's no control over sound profile.

Is it possible to change icon pack when using default launcher?

Nope! You will discover many things stock/pixel Android cannot do -- something I've criticized Google for a number of times.

Some of the limitations are downright perplexing, and a big part of why I prefer touchwiz sometimes.

[doublepost=1481389201][/doublepost]You know what? Going back to plugging-only to charge does kind of suck. I miss plopping my device down to top off the battery.

Another unspoken loss? My wireless chargers were all stands -- never flat. So they also acted as a clock display for the phone that was easy to view and interact with if I should get notifications. (I guess I could still use them as just stands.)

Shame on Google for being one of the first to push wireless charging, then walk it back the last few years. And then to likely bring it back in the Pixel 2...

Not sure if it was ever mentioned on this thread but I've heard on multiple podcast discussions that the reason for these omissions is that the development time on the Pixel was quite short..somewhere around 9 months, where most have a couple years. Huawei apparently was set to produce the Pixels but balked when Google insisted that these phones would only have Google branding ('Made by Google') with no formal mention of Huawei on anywhere on the hardware and pulled out. I guess Google had to scramble with HTC stepping in with only about 9 months from design to release, and thus why the Pixel is a somewhat cobbled together design from their existing products.

Not specifically giving Google a free pass here but to fully design, test, and release 2 versions of a smartphone in only 9 months seems to impose some limitations on what will be put out. And IIRC, HTC hadn't produced a waterproof phone prior to the Pixel and none of their major devices from the past few years offered wireless charging, including the HTC 10 and A9 that the Pixel supposedly borrows heavy from.

That's true and fair.

Also, there's unquestionably a lot to love about the Pixel. I'm still weighing my options.

So when the date/weather widget switches to the date, how do I access the Google weather app that appears when the widget is on the weather?

I sincerely don't understand how Google intended this widget to be used.

Once again, it's switched now to the date. This is without me changing my location settings or anything. I just woke up my Pixel and it was on the date.

: Confused :

Swipe left / search 'weather' or tap Weather card / tap result to get full screen / swipe left / Add icon to home screen.

Never had mine go off from the weather widget. Only ever happened on a 6P running the Pixel launcher and no location was set in Google Now (had no card set up when swiped left).

Is anyone on 7.1.1 yet? I realize I'm only on 7.1.

What gives? I thought I was supposed to get them first. T-Mobile unlocked here. Anyone else get it already?

Is it my imagination or does the quick toggles change order on their own in the pull down shade?

I really can't tell if I'm losing my mind with these "features" of the pixel launcher or not.

I'm pretty positive my toggles' arrangement got changed on their own. I don't ever use "Do Not Disturb" toggle. I took it off day one. Now it's back there somehow.

WTH?

This definitely doesn't happen on mine, they are the same as the day I got the phone and arranged them.
