I've got an XL with five cases and a Daydream VR up for sale if anybody is tired of waiting for Google to get their **** together.

Just got back from the Verizon store, I've had to get another replacement ordered for microphone issues and speaker issues. The amount of time I've had to spend with Google support and Verizon support, as well as my own research on reddit/google product forums, plus the trips to the Verizon store has really turned me away from any non-Apple experience, I'll more than likely be returning to an iPhone in the next week or so.

So my wife's Note 5 is continually full and she wants to upgrade to a phone with more storage. Cue her trying, and liking, my XL (32gb). She's even tried Pixel launcher on the Note for a week. It's done then but can't be less than 64gb.

Check the Google store. Nothing but a waiting list email. Check CPW... Five week wait time. It was like this at Christmas. Since then they've acknowledged short supply yet seemingly made no inroads in ramping up to meet demand. Google just lost a sale.

Bizarre. Google have dropped the ball here.

Even Apple admitted to not capitalising on the Note 7 debacle because they couldn't get enough iPhones made at the time.

If you ask me right now as of January 30, 2017 what's the best Android phone out right now ? My answer would easily be the Google Pixel XL.

But...

This phone is the frigging white unicorn, does not exist.

Verizon shows it back ordered for two months well into March, and Play Store always has it on back order continuously, with an e-mail sign up alert. Best Buy stopped selling the XL at end of December.

So what the hell is really going on here ? I've read articles on Android Police, and other tech sites recently, complain about the lack of stock, and no updates or answers from Google or HTC as to what's going on. It's a big mystery as to why the XL is always out of stock now, four months after release. In the U.S. the XL is just not to be found anywhere in stock for sale right now.

Soon enough the next gen 2017 flagships will be here, the Galaxy S8, and LG G6. Once those two phones hit stores in March and April, the Pixel line will be last years news and all but forgotten.

Good job Google, really good going trying to get a high end flagship out to the masses. It lasted maybe three good months before the phone disappeared. And then they just release it on one U.S. carrier only ? Google if your trying to be like Apple and Samsung, the phone needs to also be on ATT, T-Mobile, and Sprint, and in stock in all the stores. Otherwise just forget this game your playing, you lost.

At this point I would recommend the OnePlus 3T to people looking at the Pixel XL, the spec's are very similar, and runs a near stock like OS, but is half the price. And you can actually buy it right now. But your SOL if your on Verizon and Sprint.

Why the XL exclusively?

Why the XL exclusively?

Well to me the XL is the only one that counts, I don't care for tiny phones, plus the XL is the size of what an everyday average smartphone should be IMO, it's not that much bigger overall than the small one. Plus the major #1 benefit of a larger phone = BIGGER battery, that's the entire reason I prefer the "Plus" size phones, battery life. And then on top of it the larger screen is great for multi-window, and the phone is more of a pocket size mini computer than.

And the Pixel XL is the one with the all the stock issues and not sold anywhere right now. The regular Pixel can be gotten within a day or so easily.

Just realised I've never ever come into this thread.

So this is where all those 'Stock Android' Fiends hangout.

Strange. If it was working previously with the pixel perfectly, then I would suggest the issue isn't hardware related but software. What app are you using to listen to music, and have you tried a simple clean turn on and turn off of the device.

Could be a compatibility issue. Try using Google play music just to see if it does same. If it doesn't you know it's black player and possibly an update has broken it and may require another to fix.

Hopefully the Feb patch might address the issue, if not I would be sure to talk to a Google support advisor as that should definitely not be happening.

Talking of which ... Feb patch is available NOW

Edit ... Jesus it's taking absolutely forever to install this new patch.
