Nexus X and Nexus P ( 2015 ) Smartphones

I swear by Skinomi matte full body skins. They cover the entire back and sides of the phone, have a very nice grip to them, and you can hardly see them giving the illusion of a completely naked phone. Of course it's only for scratches, not drops, but that's why I have insurance and why I've taught myself to be extra careful when handling my phones.

The other thing that lends beauty to a phone is the design ethic. The iPhone has the beautiful all black front (grey models) which has no branding whatsoever. The back has the nice Apple logo, once again with no lettering, and in very small tasteful letters iPhone S. It just looks and feels classy. In contrast while the Samsung edge plus and Note 5 have beautiful glass backs, they destroy the phone by making it gaudy and cheesy. A huge Samsung logo on the front, ruining the entire front look. Having non black colors like the weird blue they have, producing an odd contrast with the screen while off. The multicolored edges with shiny bezels, and the back of the phone having yet more branding in huge letters and the phone model. It always confuses me, you paid $800 for the phone what purpose does the advertising do? Will it convince your buddy next to you to buy it? Also to contrast the Nexus P is a very nice front design, the lettering on the back is a bit huge for my taste, but it is tastefully done, although the black hump is distracting and seems out of place with the design language of the phone otherwise.

I dont agree at all because the Apple logo is way bigger on the back of the iPhone than on the Galaxy S6(i know you said Note 5 which i dont have) that says Samsung and where it says iPhone 6S is as big if not bigger than the Galaxy 6 on the back of the Samsung.

Just because it doesnt say "Apple" doesnt mean there is no branding. The big huge Apple on the back is indeed, branding but seems thats ok since they make holes in the cases so you can see the logo. Not sure why thats exceptable when others complain about the other brandings.

As for the "huge" Samsung logo on the front, really? I hardly notice it is there since my phone is white which i prefer it to the black.

Im sick of black phones. If i were to get a iPhone, i would have to get the gold one because Apple only offers two white fronts and one is the feminine Rose Gold with the white front and the gold which i dont like either but id have a case on it so you wont see it anyways. Apples phones lack decent color options imo. I do think the Samsungs phones are very nice looking but i dont like glass backs and id prefer to go back to plastic and to be able to use my micro card and change th back covers to whatever i want.

Just a point of clarification as I know you haven't had an iPhone for quite a while...

Actually, only one of the iPhones has a black front bezel, the space gray model. The silver, rose gold, and gold models all have white front bezels.

I'm weary of a phone that doesn't have NFC payments at this point. My coworker has a OnePlus 1 and he is just generally unhappy with the thing.

No my personal opinions are not a mess at all, because they are my personal opinions. The Gestapo has not shown up at my door and told me not to have a personal opinion yet, although I fear you may. Let me repeat it for your edification, the logos on Samsung phones are UGLY, UGLY, UGLY, I'd hate to have a car with huge letters painted on the hood and I won't do it on a smartphone either. You know what, it's my personal opinion, if it makes you feel insecure then that's too bad. Yes I will thoroughly enjoy my boring iPhone!!!! PLEASE enjoy your gold S6 edge +.

I don't use NFC payments so that wouldn't bother me. Its nice that i can though but I took my card off of Goggle wallet from my phone a while ago. I do feel better that I can set a fingerprint lock on it now. Just haven't loaded it back up and not sure if I will.
I just haven't really seen any talk on the one plus 2 in here but haven't looked real hard either.

No, just curious since you said the Samsung name on the back was ugly and huge but the Apple logo on the back is bigger.
I get what your saying about the front. I just don't notice mine because as I said, my phone front is white and the letters are silver so it isn't so obvious.

The back of the Samsung phones I can live with. I like the Apple logo, and if Samsung had a logo I'd probably like that as well if it was on the back. I can see it being less onerous with silver on white though.

I got a Nexus 5X order for 32gb in after my Nexus 6 seller put up a nice scam on eBay. His ad said brand new Nexus 6 with 1 yr warranty. Instead it's a new other open boxed phone with like no warranty.

Just saw a commercial for the 5X during The Walking Dead...short of a major sporting event, doesn't get any bigger than that. Can't ever recall seeing such a high profile advert for any Nexus.

Watching Supersavs video I realised that the Nexus 5X only has ONE front speaker????!! I just confirmed that with the technical specifications on Googles Nexus 5X page. So as the phone only has one front speaker, what the hell does it have those humungous oversized bezels for then? They really have not made a good design here, no doubt LG could have made it sublimely smaller as they did with the G2 but I guess Google said no, we like this design, and it's cheaper to make....

Android Authority 48 hours with the 6P.

My initial impression of this quick hands on is "my god the black is a dust and oily fingerprint magnet'. Almost every shot of it there's dust and lint or smudges marring it. That would drive the OCD part of me nuts.

3 hours SOT in their daily use so far - but we don't know what their usage is. But a little bit underwhelming given a 3400 mah battery, and 2.5-3 hours charging to full even with the fast charger ? How is that 'fast'?

Bezels do look massive even when compared to other big bezel devices like the iPhone or the Xperia Z3/4/5 range.

Taller than the Nexus 6 and almost as wide. That for me is likely ruling this out as a phone as the width of the Nexus 6 was something I never truly adjusted to.

An Android Police preview of their 5X unit has been put up, the overall impressions aren't bad, but the camera lags after taking several HDR photos in a row and they state the camera has no stabilisation system at all! No OIS or digital stabilisation! That's going backwards considering the 5 has OIS.

Taller than the Nexus 6 and almost as wide. That for me is likely ruling this out as a phone as the width of the Nexus 6 was something I never truly adjusted to.

While the Nexus 6 (2014) is a good phone, its width really made it ergonomically hard to hold for me.
I really like the width of the Note 5. But I think the Nexus 6P width is more like the iPhone 6s Plus than last years Nexus.
It looks like it is just as tall and wide as the current iphone pluses

I'll be going with the 5X, as I won't be able to stand the size of the 6P. I guess I'm over "phablets". I much prefer the size of the iPhone 6S to the 6SPlus, if that means anything. The only " phablet" size I really liked was the Note 5. I am not sure how they managed to put a 5.7" in that body. I am just happy the 5X has the same camera as the 6P. That'd have been a deal breaker for me.

From what I've read though, the 6P camera has digital stabilisation and the 5X has no stabilisation at all. So you need a pretty steady hand.
