Gotta say...after using my 6P for the last few days....I'm kinda disappointed.
IMHO the fingerprint scanner on the back is not a good idea. It is not intuitive. I have to pick my phone up to wake to use it. My 6s+ and Note 5 both can be used from a flat surface because the fingerprint scanner is on the front. I can use my index finger to get into the phones and use them. With the 6P I have to pick it up to get into it.
The camera and software is not quite up to par with the other two phones mentioned above.
The wake/off button is so sensitive. I keep hitting it all the time when just holding the phone. They really need to recess it a little and make it a little harder to press.
The performance is great. It is fast and responsive and very smooth.
But tbh stock Android is just not for me. It is just so featureless. I know its early in its lifecycle but a nice rom like CyanogenMod would be perfect. It might end up on swappa.

EDIT:
Despite the 6P having a larger battery and running stock Android...the battery life is about the same as my Note 5 and TW with a smaller battery.

Agree with your points regarding the camera and fingerprint sensor. I HATE having it on the back of the device. Camera is good but not great, certainly the best ever on a Nexus and VERY usable but definitely outclassed by the Note 5 and iPhone 6+/6S+ (as it should be considering the price difference).

Device is superfast and smooth though. Great device just not for me, I continue to prefer iOS and the iPhone hardware.

I've already canceled my 6P. I don't think it'll be right for me either. Came close, though.

The S6 just has too many strengths that I'm unwilling to compromise going for it.

Essentially the Nexus 6P is a big jar of

marmite_1906152b.jpg

It certainly is the best NEXUS device ever.

But the camera isn't quite as good as the best on other devices - but maybe this will improve with software - however Google's camera software has never been cutting edge.

Stock android is and remains very 'stock'. If you prefer the customisability of other devices then stock android is not going to win you over. It will however be preferable to those that put performance and speedy updates above extra features. Neither is right or wrong, its just what subjectively you prefer.

Finger print reader is very accurate - but its position is again like 'marmite'. You'll either love it or loathe it.
For me I actually like it, I use the dimple like the 'M' logo on my Moto's to rest my finger when I'm holding it.

I've already posted my pros and negs and they mostly echo everything said by others - but again the draw will inevitably end up being what compromise your willing to make and what you hold as more important in a device.

Hopefully next year, there will be a Nexus 5P. Ya know what I'm sayin'?

On that note, I didn't realize the Nexus 5 was so beloved. I always thought it got mediocre reviews. I seem to remember poor camera, poor battery life among the main complaints. Yet, with 5X reviews, it makes it sound like the Nexus 5 was so beloved. I guess it got a cult following?

Anyway... Nexus 5P 2016. Yo.

Yea I think you hit the nail on the head, at the time of release - at least hardware spec wise, the nexus 5 was a nexus 5p

nexus 5 may be poorly reviewed but it remains a relevant phone because of updates in a sea of forgotten phones from 2013

Yeah I thought the N5 got those complaints very often too, but maybe it's a cult following thing :)

Can anyone remember if Google typically does Black Friday sales for their Nexus devices? The release date is always so close to BF, so would they discount a device so new?

And if so, does anyone remember what sort of deals there were? Was it an actual monetary discount, or did they just throw in a free gift card or something...?

Considering a Nexus 5X for someone who only needs a mid-ranger with a good camera.

What's with all these reviews of the 5X saying it has poor/average battery life?

Again with this, Google?

Yep. Taken using the google camera's 'lens blur' mode.
impressive

People are saying the camera isnt as good as the top two or three but I bet it is still good and still better than last year's flagships that people were happy with I am sure

Yep exactly. It's not as good as the very best, but its a massive improvement over last years Nexus 6.

dont think there is any device around that size with a qhd screen that has good battery life :(

all 808 + qhd devices that I can think of have average/poor battery life, even bigger phones

lg g4, moto x style

Honestly, the 5X is pretty disappointing in the grand picture.

Oh boy not this guy again, now round two, with another brand new Nexus 6P;

He wanted to prove those people that didn't believe him. If you watch the video closely, he shakes his hand quite a bit to try to bend it, which tells me it requires a bit of pressure. It's pretty simple, don't put the phone in your back pocket and don't sit on your phone.
