How LG and Huawei can restore Google’s Nexus program to its former glory
http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-huawei-restore-nexus-glory-634362/
The Nexus phones will never be glory phones. They always have something missing from keeping them from being great.
Typically Nexus phones have horrible battery life and their cameras suck big time.

Why would an OEM release a Nexus phone and make it great? Why would they not just release it under their own brand name? That is why all Nexus phones will never be great sellers. OEMs will always hold something back in features and performance so they can release it under their own brand.

Have to agree with you both. Every year, the Nexus always has this heightened potential, because c'mon, it's Google at the helm. But every year, something is missing or disappointing.

So far, I'm not seeing anything that'll pull me away from the S6. I remain hopeful, though. I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong here by Google/LG.

I'll let you guys know how it goes ;) day 1 buy for me

The higher end Huawei model is a day one buy for me. Not really interested in the tiny and cheap LG Nexus.

Stock Android IMO is my fav smartphone OS.

that tiny and cheap lg w/ 1080p and snapdragon 620 will perform better than the huawei w/ 808 or 810 on a qhd panel mate ;)

based on the latest size comparison video I would say the nexus 5 2015 is a bit too big for my tastes, but there are no other options other than z5 compact and I'd rather nexus

I think it's the nexus programme is great, I switched from the iPhone 5 to the Nexus 5 and have had it as my daily driver since November 2013! The battery's weak in it now but as said, I've used it every single day so I would expect it to be gone by now, but it still lasts me for the day.
The camera isn't the best but it has got some decent shots for me. And I get software updates when Google make them. So when I replace my phone it will be 2 years old, same as any other 2 year contract phone.

So I will be including the new Nexus 5 in my list of possible phones this year, I do like the Note 4 but I also think Samsung updates are slow, from what I've read.

Nexus devices have never been great because it would compete with the manufacturer's own flagship and diminish its branding. For example, it doesn't make business sense for LG to build a Nexus device that would kill sales of its flagship G4 and make Google branding stronger while killing its own LG branding. That's why I have no confidence in the upcoming LG built Nexus device and am more interested in the Huawei which doesn't have the self cannibalization issue since they have no presence in the West. The issue with Huawei though is lack of trust due to rumored association with PLA/eavesdropping/backdoor/etc. so it would make sense for Huawei to be a permanent Nexus partner delivering competitive hardware under the safety umbrella of direct Android OS from Google.

I never understood Android releases. They always seem to release the new phones about a month before the next OS versions comes out, which means you'll likely see it on your phone in 6 months. Bizarre.

most people that buy nexus would never touch a lg skinned phone though, I'm not sure there really is much cannibalization going on - at least with LG. Non nexus LG isnt even on my radar. If Moto made another nexus, or sony - I hear you cannibalization would be more of an issue.

Like if samsung made another nexus, they would get many buyers that would never buy a non nexus samsung device

the layman would never know who the nexus was made by anyway
