I really like that, Clix.
Nice shapes, it has an abstract feel to it.

Here's a nighttime lightning strike in the Basque country last month.
Minolta Dimage A2, 15 sec exposure.

What a fantastic shot! The pink sky sets the whole thing into a different league too. Well done :)

I agree! Awesome shot!

How ironic. This was my idea for the assignment and it didn't make the grade yet here is a thread on it. I guess I win in a round-about way. Guess I can post some stuff.

I think it is a great bit of photography!

This is one of my only night shots, I took it on the way home from work, it was the day I picked up my tripod so I figured I test it out before I got home. This was not long after the London Underground terrorist attack and that guy in the shot is a security guard at the station, his partner was standing next to me at the time, he came over demanding to know what I was doing but after talking to him for a while he was OK with it, I told him I'd delete the image if it didn't meet his approval but he seemed to like it and thankfully he let me keep it. :D

Now if only I could find a way out of working lates, I'd be able to get some more night shots.

On my trip this past February to London, I was "reminded" by a rider at the Piccadilly Station, that photography was not allowed. This was my attempt at iso 1600 with the Nikon 18-200VR at f/5.3 at 1/8th of a second handheld.

I respected the comment made, even though it might not have been a legal opinion.

BTW, I like your image....

I was tuned into Photomatrix HDR software recently. I am looking forward to getting some time to do some work to see how better it performs over the Adobe HDR in CS2.

This is the pool at night from my recent holiday in sharm ElSheikh 30s exposure, water lit from underneath, and a tiny light in the plants

The Moon, stil trying to figure out the perfect settings for a moon shot.

any help on exposure times, f-stop and other values to get great shots of stars would be great

YES. This is the thread for me, I love night photography. I'm limited with my camera (no a/s/m mode, 15 sec max exposure time) but I still do what I can.

These are a few I already have posted online (link to website in my sig)...

Fireworks or flashlight + long exposure = awesome.

It was taken this night at the Streetparade in Zürich with available light.

Specs, please?

Sorry for the neglect, BUT, this picture was one full charge worth of juice on my 30D (about 94 mins), pointed mostly north outside my house. The starts (and the north star, at the center) do that, and the exposure was long enough to show it. For anyone in Colorado, I live east of BOulder, and the bloom of light is from Ft. Collins.

Lastly, a 10mm lens, and RAW processing.
this is how it would turn out sans photoshop:

God Bless RAW.

Amen to that!

The Absolutely Untouched original from the previously 'controversial' thread:
zero_s(20D_20060621_1437).jpg

Versus this, which was the prior (controversial) presentation which had +1.5 EV added during RAW import.

Canon 20D with a 19mm @ f/3.5 @ 30sec @ ISO 1600. The +1.5 EV RAW post processing would have made the effective exposure roughly equivalent to 90 seconds.

Those are some really nice photos you've got there MediaGuy06. Are you using a flash to paint the lit objects? I've tried using a torch (flashlight) to paint with before, but not with much success
