And there we have it. The camera brand that is really hurting Nikon (and Canon and Sony). The Apple iPhone!
What’s funny is that I actually don’t like the cameras that much on my 12 mini. I think Apple is applying too much “enhancements” in post, or I’m just getting more and more used to having more to work with. I know I could shoot RAW, but that sorta defeats the purpose of a quick and easy “pic’ ‘n post.” Might as well just pull out the G9 at that point.

I think only the "pro" series of iPhones have all the bells and whistles and the better cameras..... and the additional features and functions. I've been very happy with my 11 Pro for those situations where I just want to do a quickie. The 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max are supposed to be even better but I haven't gotten around to seriously thinking about swapping my 11 Pro for a 12 Pro.

The Pros should just have the third camera, the telephoto. Otherwise they use the same hardware. Apple usually applies the same post-processing across the model line (since all models use the same SOC), with just the number of cameras being the distinguishing factor. I had the XR before the 12 mini, and I honestly preferred the XR camera better too. The HDR video on the 12 is nice though. I prefer to use the iPhone for video.

Yes, they are great for that. And I take lots of “non-sense photos” like photos of black boards, time tables, signs, photos of the fridge (to remind myself or my partner what we need to buy when grocery shopping).
