The iPhone 7 looks pretty underwhelming. Especially if you don't get the Plus model with dual cameras, you will be stuck with the smaller one without the flagship feature. The standout feature would be it comes in a "SPACE BLUE variant" WTF? The Note 7 has caught my eye and the only way Apple will get my money is that they make iPhone 7 support the apple pencil and that it has true multi tasking, not this phony app switching gimmick. Apple has really taken us for granted with the lack of innovative features. I know the Apple loyalist will say, "Why you need a waterproof phone? don't go swimming with your phone", "why you need a stylus? just use your pinky." "why do you need split view on an iPhone? just buy another iPhone."

Ok, cool! Enjoy your Note 7!!!

(That's what you want to hear, right?)

I don't get these threatening to get a Note 7 threads and posts. Just go get one. Maybe you'll like it. Worst case scenario you find out you don't like the user experience and all those features you were so enamored with in print aren't really all that important.

Maybe Apple isn't raising the bar for you quick enough or maybe they are making well thought out decisions to make it the best experience for their users. NFC payments were around long before Apple Pay but it wasn't until they came out with Touch ID tied to it that people realized, gee, maybe high security should be part of mobile payments and not just waving your phone over a POS terminal for the cool factor. Maybe they won't water proof the phone until you can make calls from the bottom of the ocean instead of incremental will last in a puddle for up to 10 seconds. Apple makes mistakes and has shortcomings but traditionally they aren't a baby steps company.

Anyhow, go get a Note 7 if it's features are important to you now.

Note7 is more interesting to me than the former 2016 champ, S7 edge, because of the 64gb base model. I just saw a $80 200gb on Best Buy. It was on sale before for $60 on Amazon. Don't really care for the iris scanner but Note7 looks to be the first to use Gorilla Glass 5 while others are still using Gorilla Glass 4 from 2014. Type-C is another area I feel like it looks for more future proof than the S7 edge. Never cared for glass back, but I'll live with it.

For productivity and media player where Samsung tops battery life in video playback, Note7 looks like the smartphone to beat. How long will it take until Apple adds a file manager app? A video player app that plays MKV and AVI? I don't even like Samsung but give credit where credit is due. The S7 edge got rave reviews. The Note7 will likely get them too since it practically looks similar to it with essentially the same specs except a few things like Type-C, Gorilla Glass 5, 64gb base, S-Pen, iris scanner, and the so-called best display ever on a smartphone.

Wait when 32gb starts being anemic for iPhone users. Give it a few years when people start wanting 64gb as the base model. I do feel 64gb is my bare minimum now but will still have 200gb more to spare. Apple makes disposal phones once everyone fills up all their memory which is easy to fill with HD/4K videos and 13MP photos at 5mb for one photo. As big as an mp3.

I want 250gb avail to me in 2016. I plan to store entire TV series and 100+ movies on mine. Large games too. Aim higher. Apple doesn't let you.

I think that it's because we as consumers want something that ticks all the boxes for us when we make a purchase, and the iphone is no longer ticking all those for some people, but it still ticks enough of the right boxes that they get frustrated because there is no clear cut way to go, they either give up some things to go one way or give up other things to go the other. So they post on message boards and comments sections as a way to vent and seek justification from other people experiencing the same. While it would be more constructive to send those thoughts to apple, it probably doesn't give the same satisfaction. You'd probably just get a canned response email, where as on a message board you can hopefully have a discusión.

You can use icloud drive as a form of file manager.

Pencil support on the iPhone. I hope not, NEVER!
Why not? On the Note 7 it's there for those who want it. Some people never use it at all and just use it as a regular smartphone. The S-Pen fits into the chassis beautifully. You need never know it is there until you want to use it. It's also water resistant as well. For those of us who live around water or have pools that's nice.

There have been way too many times I've been chatting with another parent at the school parking lot and we exchange info and need to scribble out very quickly contact information or meeting times. It's such a pain to enter this information in using the forms that pop up for the contacts or the calendar app. I've often wished I could just grab an electronic pen and scribble down the info on my iPhone to be properly entered later when I have more time. As it is, I have to keep a paper notepad and pen on me.

Also, even though I have slender fingers, it's not always easy to select links or text on small screens. The stylus is nice for this. I know Steve Jobs ridiculed the stylus but he never envisioned anything like what Samsung has created with the S-pen. And this year's S-Pen is the best one yet. I was amazed at how refined it's become over previous iterations.

p.s.--is that the same orange cat in a new photo or a new orange cat? (Re, your avatar)

Got three orange tabbies. The only reason I do not want them to do the pencil is that I do not want it to affect the screen in any way. My iPad Pro units do not seem to have the quality that my 6S+ has. If it does not effect the screen want so ever, I am in.

Stylus affecting the screen?? That's like saying you don't like ice in summer because it may ruin the taste of the cup of water...

Oh, that makes sense. I am sorry, however, to hear that. I'm sure Apple will refine the quality over time, though. When they do, I hope they find a way to bring it to IPhone.

I've always wanted an orange tabby. I take in rescues and do trap-neuter-release for ferals here in the countryside. But so far there have been no orange tabbies among the many varied cats I and my parents have taken in or helped over the past twenty five years. I think that's astonishing but it is what it is. At any rate I like your orange tabbies!

Huh, I haven't noticed anything different on my iPad pro. I have the 9.7" model, so maybe that's why?

Multi-window is nice because if let's say your watching netflix or youtube and wanted to send a text, you wouldn't have to close that app out.

I'll support PIP on iPhone. Don't think Split view will be a good experience though.

I just played with the note 7 at Best Buy, both my wife and I want one. She loved it until I told her that her Apple Watch wouldn't work and then she said never mind. Lol.

I'm still debating, no way Apple tops it in hardware, that bad boy looks better and feels better in hand. Plus size is really manageable.

I'm just unsure I want to switch again, I really like the apps are on iOS And not sure I want to change again.

Samsung did an excellent job with this to make me even consider going back to android again.

Funny, my wife was the same way when I asked if she knew anyone that wanted to buy my Note 5 she immediately wanted it for herself until I told her the apple watch won't work with it.

One of my apps allows for a split view screen on my iPhone 6 Plus. I have to say, it is an ok feature at best for me. But my needs/requirements aren't everyone else's. Get what works best for you marine0816.

It does a good job for what it does, but isn't great. It doesn't support a lot of apps, so not really a good selling point. I think would be fine on the 5.5 iPhone screens... I'm fine with it on my S7 Edge, and the screen size is the same as my 6 plus.

BTW, it was possible to have splitscreen on jailbroken iPhone (not sure about 9.3.3) as you can see on the YouTube video on left side. Tweak is Medusa by cpdigitaldarkroom... one of the dev's I trust. I think it supports more apps than on Samsung phones.

I empathize. I was lucky in that At&T was giving away the sport version of their Gear S2. I'll give it a try. It's very big though. I doubt I will end up liking it better than my Apple watch though. Supposedly Samsung is working on compatibility with iOS. If not with this watch, then the next.

I'm here now on a Nexus tablet running Marshmallow. I've used this tablet before when it was running Jellybean, I think. It was before I got my first retina iPad mini. I thought it was okay before but now it's even nicer. I like it. I think I'll be a little sad to give it back to my husband this time.

I am really determined to break free of this ecosystem trap. For any OS or manufacturer. I'm through being herded one way or the other or trapped by my own choices. My goal for the rest of 2016 is to get comfortable with as many platforms as I can get access to.

It's not hard to sync contacts, pics, and stuff between iOS and Android. I only use iCloud just to get my phone working. There are other cloud storage options I use that do the same thing... and cheaper. I use google contacts to sync both my iPhone and S7 Edge to... but Samsung also includes a usb dongle that syncs your iPhone contacts to their phone. Streaming music and movies is popular now... downloading music and movies are a waste of storage space for me now. UDP helps too. However, some carriers allow you to stream music and movie services without counting against your your data.

For some it's not a easy transition... like iMessage. This would have been an issue years ago when we had to pay for texting... most current plans have unlimited texting. Most of my international friends prefer Whatsapp or hangouts. Facetime I hardly use... and if I do, its with my wife and kids. I still have my iPhone so they can still facetime me, but they could also use hangouts if they need to vid chat. Love both my iPhone and S7 Edge... it's pretty nice enjoying new tech when it comes out... no matter what platform it's on. :)

I pray that it has true multitasking

the note 7 is almost making me take the jump. I may just end up staying with my IP but I am very tempted to get that Note 7.

We'll be glad to see you go. Enjoy your note 7.
It's immature comments like this that leave many people thinking Apple enthusiasts are narcissistic dolts.

Your point is that only extremists/apologists disagree with you. How about enlightening us to how support for the Apple Pencil on the iPhone will work in practical day-to-day life?
Apple's pencil is decent but I only get a few hours use before the batteries dead. With daylong meetings it just doesn't cut it. Battery life of my iPad Pro is fine, too bad the pencil can't keep up.
