For us mini lovers, I have a IPhone 13 mini and IPad mini 6,
Apple is not considering us important.

But how do ya like your laptop? As small as possible (13 Air sadly no 12
Inch with apple silicone ) or as thin as possible for a big screen (15 inch MBA)

I'm holding out for a Mini update. I'll wait. When it comes, I plan to have it work with my home entertainment system among other things. When it goes M my wallet will sing.

I like it as light as possible, my thinkpad X1 nano has a 13" screen and weighs as much as my 12" Retina MacBook.
If Lenovo can do it, Apple could as well, especially with Apple Silicon (mine runs Intel).
That's for on the go, at home I mainly use my desktop with a 27" monitor and sometimes a Surface Book 3 15" (weight does not matter since it's used only at home, if I want to work in another room).
Other that that I like phones as small as possible and tablets I don't have to chose, I have all 3 sizes.

it really is a wonder why Apple hasn't released an ultra compact with Apple Silicon up their sleeve.

Maybe they're worried the market demand isn't there?

Right now looks like the mini 7 won’t get OLED or ProMotion, with rumors that mini 8 (2026 or later…) will get OLED. Makes me sad because either would make it an instant buy for me.

In the meantime, clamoring to get a mini 6 but holding out for some kind of deal on a used/damaged one at a $200 price point. The display replacement cost is so high that I’ve looked into getting 2 “for parts” condition ones (one with intact screen) and frankensteining a working one together.

Crazy to get a mini 6 for mainly reading books etc.?
Don't like kindles.

^^ doubt they would ever give a mini oled or pro motion.

Not crazy at all. If you can swing it financially, give it a shot, you can always return it to Apple in that return period. I like mine. It’s slow and far from perfect, but it’s nice to read on.

The mini 6 is excellent for reading books etc.
I read somewhere it has the highest PPI for text than all iPads?
Here it is, does it make a diff?

326 PPI

Logical resolutionPixel density
iPad Mini 6 (2021)1133 × 744326 PPI
iPad Pro 12.9″ (2021)1366 × 1024264 PPI
iPad Pro 11″ (2021)1194 × 834264 PPI

Slow as in? Gotta be better than turning pages and navigating around a kindle?

I haven’t seen any difference in text clarity between it and my M4 or other iPad models.

It’s slow compared to new iPads, has the jelly scrolling behaviour and has low ram so in some use cases reloads will be way more often. Certainly better than a kindle, if we ignore the unreliable mess that the books app is.
To further this, internally it’s basically an iPhone 13. So just temper expectations with it. It won’t perform like a brand new device because it isn’t.

It really is... even better than the Mini 5 that I used for that purpose. (as a fan of the Mini 5 I can't believe I typed that.😂)

When I had a Mini, I had a matte screen protector, the Kindle app, and shortcuts to disable notifications and change the screen to monochrome, for those times that I wanted a Kindle-like experience... without the sluggish page turning and ghosting that is prevalent with e-ink.

Well its 326 ppi is for everything on screen, not just text, so images etc are sharper, but obviously its on a smaller screen.

What do the people think base storage of the 7 will be? The main reason I haven’t bought an iPad mini 6 on sale, is because the base of 64gb wasn’t enough for me, and I didn’t need 256gb for the price jump. I’m not going to be a happy camper if the 7 base model is 64gb. 🤣

Bummer but that one time it did get an update it received the latest and greatest at the time A15. So within their lineup it's still a pretty nice device.

Does deserve a $100 price cut but somehow they forgot.
Yeah, an absolute bummer how these mini devices seems to be neglected or forgotten

Not everyone wants a giant phone or tablet, so that right there is why I still happily have my 6th gen mini; it's the perfect size and the only thing I would change about it aside from the usual internal spec bump is swapping out touch ID for face ID
