No Movement on UK/European Orders yet.

I asked the same thing last week and the reply was 'in about 2 to 3 months'!

I guess it's museums ordering these to exhibit next to Babbage's Difference Engine. By the time they get them, only historians will be able to find the initial order confirmation.

In the elided words of Basil Fawlty, please, please, before one of us dies.

Will Apple deliver to another person's address when they won't even deliver to one of their own stores?

Eh?

"... Available for pickup: check availability "

There is probably few if not any zipcodes in the USA that would show some on the shelf collecting dust. There is no static inventory in the stores because there is pragmatically no sizable built up inventory anywhere.

Perhaps a "ship to store" is availability problem in some other countries, but this is not an issue localized specifically to the Mac Pro. Countries without "ship to store" generally have same limitation on other Macs also.

Will Apple ever get any of these into their stores before they become obsolete?

Yes. If it takes Apple 4 months to stablize the supply/demand equation that would likely still leave almost 66% of the products lifetime status as "newest Mac Pro" with shorter order-to-ship times.

The is all 'first world' drama issues with instant gratification.

I asked an Apple store employee and he said Apple didn't pay him enough to know that sort of thing! Incredible :)

Even Apple employees with higher paychecks don't precisely know. When Apple catches up with demand in part depends upon when customers start ordering in lower numbers. That isn't something Apple controls. They can make insightful projections but just how many folks want to order is in flux.

Just a note to UK users, with all these storms battering our coast line we could be in for an additional delay. Some fuel stations are starting to run dry because Oil Tankers are refusing to dock, same would apply to cargo vessels I imagine.

Hehe, I already got mine :D

You can try to justify it any way you like, but the reality is that delays like these are not typical. It suggests to me that something may have gone wrong somewhere. Some of their earlier Mac Pros were available in their stores within a week of them being released. A wait of up to (potentially) almost three months for an ordered product is a very long time when Apple's competitors can ship a workstation in 24 hours. Yes, I am sure it is very good and for many worth the wait. But no, one should not have to wait.

I was told at one Apple store in Bristol last week that they expect it to be another 2 to 3 months before they have any in stock to sell.

Do you think this is likely to be the situation everywhere? I have seen a few UK resellers with limited stock selling out within a day or so, but has anyone heard of an Apple store with stock?

I'm happy for you, but it's kind of strange, that I've order at 20 of December and didn't receive anything yet.

:/

I ordered a different BTO then you, mine is 6 core-12gb-1TB-D700.
I have my fingers crossed for you, my friend, that you receive it soon too! :)

I ordered the exact same config as you with 32GB RAM, on 29th of December, no movement on my order yet.

Ordered 8 core, 64gb Ram, 1tb SSD and the D700s to Glasgow and still no word. This waiting is getting to me, I feel like i've got a sMac Problem.

Ordered mine on the 20th of December, 4 core 12GB Ram 256GB HD and D500 GPU and I have heard nothing. My ETA is Feburary :(

Just this morning moved to preparing for dispatch. Ordered 7th jan. 6 core, 512, 16 ram & D300s

Then it will be shipped in 12 hours or so, nice :) Mine was also 7 Jan. and shipped this morning. So there is definatly movement :)

I hope next week I'll have news.

In the meantime, I've just order 32Gb Ram from Crucial EU, they have this weekend a discount, order too a Caldigit T3 (3TB).

It was good from Apple to offer keyboard or mouse, or even a Final Cut Pro x or Logic Pro x, for make this waiting a less "painful".

Me to :)

Finally preparing for shipment, should be here in a Few days:)
8core/12GB/D700/1TB, ordered on 31 December.
64GB from Crucial.

I called Apple to see if they could give me a more precise delivery date or at least week in February since I have a pending payment. But all they could say was that it is supposed to ship in February but things can always go wrong so they could not say anything more exact. All there is to do is wait a bit longer I guess..
