It really is effortless, kind of feels like the future, passive security.

Good luck, can’t go wrong with either.

Face ID is just effortless. And I don't agree with people saying "Well we've had iris scanning for ages and it's better". Iris scanning work with banking apps does it? lol

I'm keeping the Note and trying a Pixel 2XL to decide between the 2. I'm new to Android and so far, really enjoying it.

I enjoy stock vanilla android as much as iOS. But until Google gets something similar to iMessage I’m staying with Apple.

I think I’m leaning towards the X. To be completely honest. Face ID is a game changer, once you get used to it, there is no going back.

Honestly I would love an iPhone X as big as the plus.
How is your pixel 2 treating you?
Really good. Sometimes I wonder if I would have been better off with the little 2, but the XL has been really good for me. Don't really notice the blue shift anymore and the battery life and camera are insane. Android has become quite an OS. I just wish they took the screen on the XL a little more seriously.

Long story short, love the Pixel, annoyed enough by the screen to replace it next year.

Pushbullet is a better solution for me. I can answer my SMS on any device I have. Love it.

Glad your enjoying the pixel xl 2.
Whatever tone the display emits, your eyes will always get used to. Not to big of a deal.

I’m sure next year they will go all out on the display. It can only get better from here.

Hi guys, the iPhone camera is absolutely worse than the pixel 2 xl camera. I think what needs to be said is that the pixel 2 camera is able to produce pictures in 1/4 the light and in 1/4 the time compared to the iPhone. This means that shutter speeds are fast. So even if the two pics could be identical enough such that it's a matter of personal preference regarding the color tuning, etc, the pixel would win because it does its work so fast which means much less motion blur.

If you use an iPhone you will quickly notice that many pics are slightly blurry due to a subject's movement. Even if you use burst mode the iPhone doesn't choose a shutter speed of 1/60 if you are indoors. Even indoors I see the pixel 2 using 1/60 if not 1/120. Huge practical difference.

So for this fact alone, the pixel 2 very much pulls ahead and I'm not sure why reviews don't mention the amount of motion blur present in iPhone pics. Take a pic of your proverbial dog or kid and you will notice the difference. It is night and day.

I also think that the dynamic range of the pixel is way better as well, as is the sharpness.
Being able to use portrait mode using the f1.8 lens is also way more valuable than zooming in. Because portrait mode iPhone X photos are grainy and noises in anything but near full sun.

Yes, the artificial geekbench score was rather strange. The s8 and note 8 were neck and neck.

The video playback test offered different results.

Don’t know why you didn’t post both, probably doesn’t fit with your narrative.

Why? Because the Geekbench test is more accurate!! :) Is it not Geekbench is much revered by ifans since the great Geekbench score of the a11 is being touted everywhere.

No because the video you provide has two tests. You chose to only post one because it’s better for your narrative.

I would ask why the geekbench score would be more accurate, but don’t need to. I’m sure video playback doesn’t require the a11 to be taxed the same way the geekbench test would.

And the results from your video do show it.

Again not much difference between the Samsung s8 and the iPhone X, only about an hour. And between the note 8 and iPhone X about 30 min, not bad for the x. But honestly after 13 hours an extra hour or 30 min, doesn’t make much difference.

Just like displaymate. Geekbench will only be revered if they provide results that fit your narrative.

Why don’t you just get an iPhone X already, your clearly obsessed with it.

Well the battery drain test from geekbench taxes the cpu and the cpu in the iPhone is much faster. Given the battery size, the results aren’t too bad. Shows the iPhone cpu is using about the same amount of power as the snapdragon while being more than 2x faster.

If you aren't putting strain on the CPU, it will not run at the highest clock speeds. Especially when using multicores. The Note 8 could actually be using less power to play video than the iPhone X, or vice versa, depending on which OS and software is more efficient for the task. Benchmarks are more than just how powerful a CPU is. An update can even drastically change the score.

First, the iPhone X camera does not "Suck". Are the other cameras on other smart phone competitors better? I would say that's up to the user to decide. And yes I have seen these comparisons and ultimately, I don't think many iPhone users have a lot of general complaints about the iPhone X camera aside from the recent flare issues.

This isn't a matter of opinion; there are objective photograpy tests to answer this question definitively.

Most of those saying it's all opinion aren't even looking at the real differences. They compare characteristics like color balance that can be fixed in post. The objective comparison of things like low light performance, level of detail, and total dynamic range are where Apple's cameras are inferior to the (cheaper) competition.

As for whether the X's camera sucks, the fact is that people will judge it more critically since the X is the most expensive phone on the market. At that price it's not unreasonable to expect the camera to at least perform close to those in cheaper competitors.

The problem with a Pixel is it won't be recognized on Mac and no microSD to transfer files.

Just install Windows on your Mac. You can buy a retail Windows 10 Pro license on ebay for like ten or fifteen bucks, at least that's what I paid a year ago.

But you should still visit your mom often. :)

Oh wow, Note8 still owning the iPhone's.

Yes indeed @mib1800 the iFans love Geekbench until it gives a result they don't like much like everything else.

I'm so over the Note8 vs iPhone comparisons though, the Note8 has been clearly ahead of many devices this year, in a league of it's own, we will have to wait until 2018 to see a real contender to it.

I mean now we have this with the iPhone X, as if the notch isn't bad enough

Disagree. Because it is a matter of opinion based on what the average consumer sees results produced off photos. Although you are correct that there are photography test(s) indicating statistics, however Its not reasonably logical to believe that the consumer would even remotely research or invest time to find out which smart phone camera produces the best results. Which is what lead me to state :

"Are there other smart phone cameras better on other smart phone competitors?"I would say that's up to the user to decide."

Not To mention, the average user doesn't even care about what other tests prove, they just Want whatever smart phone offers the latest capabilities. Smart phone cameras are very close in comparison to what they can produce in results today with Photo's.

In my anecdotal opinion, the average consumer just wants a smart phone that takes a decent quality picture and has the simplicity to use the functionality behind the camera. That's it. All the other technical specifications behind it, They don't care what tests or comparisons indicate, because they don't care about the differences outside a tech forum.

How quickly pink screen is forgotten. And it's amazing how the green bot likers like all of these tests and youtube videos until they get a result they don't like.

Good grief! How did Displaymate miss all this crap???

Because it's blatantly obvious this won't be an issue on every single iPhone X. Don't get me wrong, I love my Note 8, but I don't feel the need to continuously have a pop at devices I don't own. The screen on the X is fantastic. Every single make of phone out there will have issues of some sort on some of them.
