Hi everyone, just joined the forum. Been lurking for quite a while.
Always used PC's and windows for business and home use and have finally took the plunge into the ecosystem having been an Iphone and Ipad Air 2 user for a little while now.

Just got myself a 13 inch MBPr 512gb Mid 2015 and a 21.5 4k Imac to compliment the desk duties along with the portability of the mbp.
Setting everything up this week and have done a fair bit of reading on the best way to get started, shortcuts, timecapsule etc.

This was after a fair bit of swithering over a Surface Pro 4 with monitor and dock in the hope that it give me the best of both worlds but my research and trials have not shown this to be the case so here I am!

Looking forward to the learning curve and being part of what looks like a great community.

Onwards and upwards!

Hello,

I just registered a few minutes ago. I'm (kind of) late to the Apple scene.

My first Apple product was only in 2010 where I bought my first iPod when I was studying over seas. I've owned a couple iPods since then. It was only a few months into my new job last year where I went all out on a new iPad Air 2 (128GB + Cellular) and received a hand-me-down iPhone 5.

I love my iPad and basically don't go anywhere without it.

My iPhone is okay, but not great. It does the job I need. Not completely in love with it. Very replaceable, but I like the size. I understand the obsession with larger smart phones (of any brand), but when I need a larger screen, I just use my iPad.

And I just ordered a completely maxed out iMac:

27-inch
5K Retina Display
4.0GHz QC i7
1TB Flash Storage
AMD Radeon R9 M395X
(8GB RAM, but I will upgrade to 32 or 64)

This will be my first iMac. I'm still waiting for it in the mail.

I've always been a PC person, but iPad has made a great impression on me and the more I thought about it, the more I figured I am the target audience for Apple. I put a lot of stock in visually appealing products and I definitely favor all-in-one products. You pay a little more, but it works every time you turn it on. And I'm not completely tech ignorant, but I have little interest in keeping up with the tech scene day-to-day, just for the latest upgrade for one of a couple dozen parts, ultimately for minimal improvement. Also, I'm hoping this iMac will last me for many years before I'll have to upgrade.

I don't own a MacBook. I don't feel it's necessary. iPad + Bluetooth Keyboard is plenty for my needs.

Apple Watch confuses me. I'm sure some people find it useful.

Little to no interest in iPad Pro.

Anyway, that's me and my Apple history.

This will be a bit of a test... Another of these threads started with good intentions... but was soon taken over by regulars.

if you just joined MacRumors, reply and introduce yourself.

This is only for new Macrumors users... only users who registered within two months of the current date may reply...

All other users posts will be deleted. (moderators, please enforce this). This will be for myself included... only comments by truely "new" users will be allowed in this thread.

Discuss away...

(this could fail miserably if no one replies :) )

Well, I stumbled across this forums via the internet. I've been using computers since 1980 and until this year it was solely PCs. I used to run a small bbs (bulletin board service) in the 80s and 90s before the internet came onto the scene. I have built PCs since 2001, but decided to go the Apple route for I was getting tired of trouble shooting every blue screen of death (if you were/are a PC user you'll know what I'm talking about). I went back to college in 2009 and obtain a degree in Computer Graphics: Interactive Media and Game design. I like the layout of this website, I'll definitely be visiting it more often.

Ahhh the era of the BBS. I met my husband on one about 20something years ago. Fond memories. Welcome to MR!

Hopefully I don't get deleted... I realized I signed up for an account 5 years ago, but haven't posted a thing until yesterday when I figured out the forum was on Tapatalk. I swear I haven't looked at this forum one bit since I registered! But plan to on the regular now.

Long time Mac user with a new iPhone 6s, old iPad and old, old Santa Rosa MBP.

Is there a minimum post count to reply in certain forums?

Glad to be here!

I love MacRumors. I have used it for as long as I can remember. Then, I saw that they used XenForo and I was very pumped.

Thanks so much for being a reliable source of news!

Somewhere over the rainbow.
Long time lurker, very short time member. After becoming disillusioned with some other sites that I frequent, I figured I'd take the dive and register here.

Been using Apple products since the 4s came out, and I haven't looked back once. 4s, 5c, 6S+, 2015 15" RMB, and now just waiting on a new MP to include in my desktop lineup.

Glad to see some communities aren't completely abandoning forums in favour of whatever the current FOTM social interaction replacement is.

I am not really a new user. I have used the forums in the past, but cannot recall my login info.
So here I am in new form.
I am sure you could email MacRumors with your IP or email and see if they can give you a new password... (Sorry, I know I should only post here for hellos, but I did join last week so its still within 2 months).

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll just use this temporarily until I get my usual computer running again. All the settings like email and vpn are automated.

Just joined to reply to the diversity thread - I assume there's a minimum post count or something for some forums?

Hi everybody. My name's Adler. I'm 17 and I've been using Macs and Apple products for years, but only occasionally checked this site out for Apple news and never posted anything. Figured I'd start now. I used to post on a general laptop forum but then all of a sudden no one wanted to talk about laptops anymore and the forum was deadsville. Oh well, as much as I love phones and tablets, I'm actually planning on buying a 27" iMac soon. :)

Hello Everyone,

I've had my mac for about 5 years now and absolutely love it. I've done many a lurking around here looking for issues to some of the minor issues I've had and figured I'd make an account. I'll most likely remain a lurker, but I'll gladly chat with anyone willing!

Have fun,
Gersh66

Hello all!

i have an iphone 6 and am in spain for 4 months. I took out my AT&T sim (after unlocking my phone for international use) and put it an Orange pay as you go sim card. Its working great, except since now my number is +34 all my contacts that were previously entered WITHOUT +1 arent showing up as contacts. So my moms number shows up unassociated with her contact name "Mom" because her number doesnt have a +1 in my contacts. Is there a way to change this without manually changing every single number???

Thanks so much!!
