Dont like the notch, dont buy the iPhone X or these Android phones that have it. Thats what i chose to do.

And that's why I went with the iPhone 8 Plus. That doesn't mean I cannot criticise Apple for their design choice. As a costumer, I have a obligation to give Apple my feedback about their products. That information is crucial for the development of future products.

Yes i agree and the slower sales of it will do that too.

I actually want to see the OnePlus 6 already. Could be the first flagship available at launch within my ideal budget ($500 or less). Especially since OnePlus gives 10% off to students. If the 5T was available for $450, I would consider buying it now, but it's not available in the US since it's sold out.

Anyways, my ideal OP6 is: QHD+ screen, 4000 mAh battery, faster dash charging, a much better dual camera setup, very good auto brightness and strong visibility outdoors, no notch, 3D facial recognition, 8gb RAM, 128gb starting storage, 845 processor, Project Treble support, water resistance, SD slot.

I could absolutely be mistaken but I though I saw a rumor recently that the newest One Plus may be closer to $700-750.

Edit: Yup, here’s one article about that rumored price.

You should be able to find brand new 5t available for resale on swappa for near that price.

I don’t think OnePlus would position itself to compete as well with their proposed $700-$750 range. Their success is due to one global model with dual sims and offering high end specs at an affordable price point. They should focus on dominating that aspect.

I may look into one because that’s probably the best flagship within my budget new.

I have no idea why OnePlus would try to copy the "notch" on the upcoming OnePlus 6.
It seems they would rather copy than innovate themselves. Having a notch eliminates display space...but at a cost of functionality. Like the iPhone X notch eliminated room for a battery percentage indicator.
I just don't get it.....

On the plus side it looks like it has a glass back so maybe it will have wireless charging?

I HATE the notch, I hated it when it First appeared on the Essential Phone, I hate it on the iPhone X which followed and I hate the fact that some of these idiots in these OEMs think it's a good idea to copy.

Anyway, Samsung looks better off by bucking the trend and sticking to their own Infinity Display, the Android OEMs are playing themselves and are only helping Apple and Samsung standout more in the end, lol.

I've also seen that number isn't US dollars but another currency thus being in the ballpark as previous releases in US dollars. But we shall see soon. It seems like there time table is moved up a bit from previous releases.

I have to say I still find this whole notch copying thing absolutely ridiculous.
When the X was made official, I thought we'd see some Android devices that copied it, mainly the Chinese companies like Xiomai or however you spell it, and true to form they have.

But for companies like LG, Huawei and One Plus to blatantly rip it off too, it's just embarrassing.
That 'Verge' article that contains the tweet from the guy who wrote the article is pretty spot on.

"My big problem with Android phone makers shamelessly copying the iPhone is that they make Android look bad. They give fodder for people who say there's only iPhones and wannabe iPhones. Which isn't true."

Couldn't have put it better myself.
It's undoing a lot of what these companies have managed to do for themselves with their previous devices. Like LG with the arguably great G6 and V30 phones. They're going from that to an Android that now looks just like another iPhone rip off. It's a crying shame.

I honestly don't believe that this phone, or those phones need that notch.
The fact that they're giving users an opportunity to hide it kind of speaks volumes.

My thoughts too. I expected some to copy the notch...but not on the scale that is being reported. I am disappointed in all the phone makers. I am glad Samsung Motorola and a few others are not copying the notch.....

It was expected anyway since all OEM's are following the Notch trend, hope soon Apple removes it so they do the same thing. Atleast Samsung knows what's up and is releasing beautiful phones without a Notch.

Stop with the notch, it's not needed. The S8/S9 get by fine without one. The LG V30 has very minimal bezels and doesn't need a notch. I'd much rather have a little bit of a top bezel to avoid the notch.

And it speaks loudly of copying Apple, if there was no iPhone X released last year, and we never knew or seen pics of a "notch" iPhone, would all these Android manufacturers come up with a notch all on their own ? I highly doubt it, they'd just copy Samsung and their S line instead, with no notch.

But I will say the Essential Phone, doesn't look too bad with it's notch, I like how the screen still goes over it, and it's more of a hole in the top, and there's a little bit of screen going over it. For some reason that doesn't look like a big "notch" or gap in the phone, it seems more fluid, and not as noticeable.

Android phones aren't copying iphone X notch. The competition for "bezelless" phone has been going on for some time. Look at phones from few years ago. Galaxy 5, 6, 7, 8, 9... All trying to remain physically same but with bigger screen by shrinking or eliminating button completely. So it's a natural progression.

It's not necessarily "copying" iphone X. if anything, Essential phone did this first and it looks much better than Iphone X.

Oh please. Only 10 people bought the Essential phone and no manufacturer is trying to copy it's cute forehead wart.

Is that a fact? Is the notch a "feature" or a result of expanding screen area? So to be clear, you are saying android phone manufacturers are copying from Apple but not from Essential phone because only 10 people bought that?

They copied the back of the iPhone. Might as well copy the front too. It’s not like any of these companies have any of their own identity anymore.
Can you show us pictures to compare?

Oh yes... Since the announcement of the Esssential Phone, Apple completely aborted the phone that was already in mass production so they could add and copy the notch from Essential where they housed all of the camera sensors for Face ID and True Depth. /s
There were numerous rumours of the iPhone 8/X since the iPhone 7 came out and guess what?

Without being overly dramatic, can you point me where I said or even hinted Apple COPIED from Essential? Read my post again.

When others companies make natural improvement in general, it's "copying", but when apple makes improvement, it's "innovation". This "copying" isn't a black/white situation.
