Most people on Reddit and the 1+ forums are saying the main camera is right up there with the other flagships now after the recent update.

The issues now are with the zoom and wide angle lenses.

Still not seeing this performance even after the updates. Dont get me wrong, it is a solid phone and close to the iPhone series but having the Pixel for 2 days, it kind of ruins any other picture taking moments on any other phone.

I just don't prefer the processing of the OP7 as its very unrealistic and does not do a good job on the details of pics, especially low light.

That being the rest of the package was one of the best phones i have used due to dat screen!! The Pixel screen seems so 2015 coming from the OP7 screen and it hurts.

I guess the point being if it's still right up there with iPhone, S10 etc but not pixel, I'd say it's a success. No other phone touches the pixel, this one included. But it does look to be near the top now but not the top .

Agree completely. It depends on personal preference and how high people value camera over the other features. I couldn't live with the good to average camera for my needs but the other pluses make it one of the best phones I have ever used.

And when it comes to cameras, they really are all very capable of taking some excellent shots. The Pixels are phenomenal but it’s not like the next in line are the equivalent of a Nexus 5 camera, for example.

I see what yourse saying but do you mean you can actually only live with the #1 camera? I think the s10s, iPhones and 1+ 7 pro are just behind the pixels and are not just good to average. They are literally #2-4 in the market most likely. If you need the absolute best then you are in the right spot with your pixel.

I wouldn't put the OP7Pro camera in the S10, iPhone category though from my use even after the new update. I admit I did not use the Gcam port though.

The camera shots were processed terribly and very unrealistic in terms of color reproduction and look. It is a very personal preference as I mentioned though and many will find it sufficient for their needs.

I am not one of those people as I use my camera for so many different items and so often during the day that an iPhone or Pixel were my best options.

I`m considering the OP7Pro myself. The camera is really a non issue for me. For casual snap even the 6T is enough.
On the other hand for real photos I use a real camera.
No matter how much processing you use one just can`t beat physics.
Big sensor and real optics are still making the difference.

You don't always need a big camera. A Sony rx100 (shirt pocketable) or a Panasonic lx100 (almost pocketable) will eat these smartphone cams for lunch.
So, without denying the usefulness of a decent smartphone cam, I`ll never use it for anything of even minimal importance to me.
But that's only me, other people can legitimately have different tastes and/or opinions.

Ease of use + quality=daily need for my scenario.

I don't want to carry yet another device or worry about charging another device or when to bring it or when not to when I can rely on my phone to snap just as good pics and it will always be with me.

Let alone the uploading process to social media platforms/google photos that it makes it a no brainer for me and why I will always need a very good camera in my back pocket for a phone as one of the best features.

Again, just me. I know a lot of people who never take pictures and their use case.

Your use case scenario is perfectly legit. But don't fool yourself thinking that you`ll get a very good camera (technically speaking) no matter what smartphone you choose.
But as you implied quality means different things for different folks.
For example I don't do social media and like to print my pictures. So what fits me may very well not fit you and the other way around.
And this is perfectly fine.

If camera is a non issue you will love the OP7 Pro. The 90 hz refresh rate, 135 hz touch sensing rate, OxygenOS make this the best Android phone I've ever used. I've said that a lot recently about a couple Android phones, but they keep getting better and better. Usually I find that with Androids I perform all of my tasks just a hair slower than on my iPhones. Not sure if it's due to animations or I'm just used to iOS. It is just barely perceptible to me but I always notice it. Opening apps, texting, navigating through menus, etc. Even on the Pixel 3XL which I also really enjoy. Not the case with the OP7 Pro so far. It just flies, all the time, I don't miss a beat compared to my iPhone. Just the interface and the way the phone responds is perfect. The beautiful screen has been beaten to death, it's better than the two S10+ phones that I tried that both had pink hue and color shift. And you can truly adjust white point on this phone which is a great thing.

If screen quality and overall smoothness / operation are important to you you'll love this phone. Notch and hole punch free life is good! Give it a try.

I have now a OP6T which I like except the notch and prior to that I had a Samsung Note 8 which ticked all the boxes except battery life. If the camera is no worse than the 6T which I doubt is the case, and the battery life is at least on par with 6T I'm all for it.

I also owned the 6T. I haven't used the 7 Pro enough to give an informed opinion on battery life yet, but my totally non-scientific observation has been that I recall the 6T battery life being better. Lower res and lower refresh rate. OP has been pumping out updates very often and maybe there is more optimization that can be done. People have complained about battery drain on the OP forums, I see nothing that has been worse than other phones I've used.

What scares me a bit is the questionable quality of OP's batteries. I have my 6T since December and battery health is 90%. Taking into account the fact that I know a thing or two about batteries and that I was very careful with it, the 10% wear in 6 months (less the 100 cycles) seems to me pretty excessive.

Battery life kicked the pants of my 3XL thats for sure.

It seems my 3XL goes from 100% to 90% in like 15 minutes and then tapers off. Even with the screen brightness high, 90hz, and heavy use the OP7 killed it by a wide margin for my use.

Played around with the 7 Pro again at T-Mobile. What a gorgeous phone and I love the widget drawer. So tempted.

Could just be a defective battery / bad luck? Happens with any phone which I'm sure you know. Can't comment on OP battery QC, I haven't really read of anything major. Maybe someone else with experience can comment. The only other OP phone I had was the 6T.

My 3XL is worse than my 2XL was re: battery life I think. I haven't been impressed with battery life of the 3XL since the day I got it, that's putting it mildly. The positives of the phone far outweigh the negatives.

Yea its very odd behavior from a stock experience and not the brightest screen in the world. It has solid specs battery wise but overall its very disappointing.

Luckily it fast charges and uses wireless charging.

(Ex) iPhone users: How are you enjoying the 7 Pro?

I loved my time with the 7Pro and was the best screen I have used on any device....ever!

The camera is what made me switch to the Pixel 3 and that is all. It isnt to say the OP7 camera is that bad but it is nowhere near the Pixel quality in consistency and results. It is adequate but for my personal needs, not enough to keep the device.

Highly recommended though for those that do not have a camera near the top of their needs like me.

It's a fantastic phone. Everything is butter smooth. The screen is the best /nicest I've ever used on a phone. Scrolling is a joy due to the refresh rate. The in display finger print sensor is just as fast as, if not faster, than Touch ID on iPhones. Night and day difference compared to the 6T. The thing I notice the most is the overall responsiveness of the phone. It's iPhone / iOS level good, hard to explain. Likely due to the refresh rate, touch sensory rate, and OxygenOS. Purely subjective of course on my part.

The really big thing that I think everyone can agree on, is that the phone is quite large and heavy. If you're coming from an iPhone 8 form factor or even X form factor it'll be an adjustment. I have fairly long fingers but I really notice the weight of the phone when holding it with one hand. Even typing with two hands right now in portrait mode, I really feel the weight of the phone on my right pinky finger that's under the phone for support. It doesn't bother me though.

Give it a try. It's an impressive piece of tech. Be warned, if you return it and it's not defective you may get hit with a 15% restocking fee.
