Yup agreed. A man can wish though!

Very much so! MKBHD actually just released a video where he did just that. A "what if?" phone if you could cobble together the best hardware and software bits to form 1 phone. I mostly agreed with his choices to build his Dream Phone.

Never been tempted by a non-iPone before, but my next phone may well be a OnePlus 7 Pro. It offers things that are actually exciting!

I'm just worried that I won't feel at home with some non-Apple apps, like Messages and Podcasts.
I use a lot of Google apps anyway (Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Docs, YouTube), but am concerned about a few.

one plus hype dies down fast, look at this thread and it's only 15 pages so keep that in mind. great phone but get pretty basic really fast. also it's 203 grams so you'll feel the weight.

Thanks, also gotta keep in mind that we're on MaRumors, so other websites would be a better indicator of popularity.
I've never looked into OnePlus before, but it SEEMS like this is their first model that's turned heads in a big way, with multiple YouTubers and reviewers saying it's one of 2019's best offerings.

Fact of the matter is oneplus striving to be the best with price point, high end spec, strong battery, fast charging and quick update, to keep the phone stay in the competition, it is throat cutting phone market no one can stay complacent. They want to be the best in the business.

Hype is dying almost as fast as price on the S10 series is dropping.

Ignore trolls and / or people who have never owned a OP phone. Happy to answer any questions you have about the OP7 Pro. As you said in your earlier post, your concern about Messages is very legitimate and a gripe that everyone shares about every Android phone. If your top priority is sending high quality video and other media to people who only use iPhones, and those people won't use any other app for that, you should stick with iPhone.

The OP7 Pro is the first Android phone I've used that feels like an iPhone. Aside from crappy native messaging. And I'm coming from a Pixel 3XL that I used for the past 5 months, which is a blazing fast and smooth phone. I owned a Samsung S10e for a couple of months as well, S10+ for 5 days and returned it.

With all other Android phones, I feel a step behind in everything I do compared to iOS. I feel a barely perceptible difference in the time it takes for me to navigate through menus, settings, compose messages, etc. For some reason this doesn't happen with the OP7 Pro. It is likely due to the combo of 90hz refresh + 135hz touch input + Oxygen OS optimization.

If you are a photo buff and want the best camera in a cell phone + fast / nice Android experience, go for the Pixel 3A. The standard Pixel 3 series phones are not at all a good buy (in my opinion) on the eve of what should be a stellar Pixel 4. The camera on the OP7 Pro isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

You should first play with the OP7 Pro in a T-Mobile store if you have one close to you. I'd stick with the unlocked model personally, as software updates come in much quicker vs. the T-Mobile variant. You have 15 days to try out the phone from OP, but you may get hit with a 15% restocking fee if you return the phone and it isn't defective.

I am not sure the hype is dying down but more so the device is that good that you can't just keep repeating the same thing over and over.

It marks off a lot of the "best in any phone" categories including screen, responsiveness, OS (personal preference I know but easily my favorite Android skin), and charging with the Warp ability.

It has so many things to love at such a competitive price for anyone who wants to try Android or currently loves it.

For me, and this is very personal based on my needs, the camera isn't Pixel quality and I need that almost daily which is why I use my 3XL more then my OP7.

Couldn't recommend the OP7 enough for anyone exploring the option.

Nice post. I currently have the Pixel 3 XL, bought last year, and like it, I've had most all Nexus and Pixel phones, as I'm a stock Android nerd.

But was in T-Mobile store going over an error in their billing to me, and window shopped, Man oh man the OnePlus 7 Pro surprised me, really nice phone, faster and smoother feeling than my 3 XL. It sure seems like a great phone.

And I looked at the iPhone XS Max just for fun, and have to say, that's also a nice phone too, just can't get into iOS, but last iPhone I had was a iOS 9 device, so maybe iOS 13 is a big upgrade over iOS 9, and how the phone operates?

My beef with my Pixel 3 XL, is mediocre battery life, it's not bad, but not great either. And the display isn't bright on sunny days, hard to see the screen outdoors. But most phones are probably like that.

Just checked all the Tmobile stores around me and they don't have any OnePlus 7 Pro demo units anywhere, and don't stock the phone locally.
Bummer. Maybe their exclusivity will run out and I can see it at Verizon or Best Buy someday.

Pixel 3 XL, iPhone XS Max, or OnePlus 7 Pro?

Don’t waste your time with the iPhone TB. I love the XR and Max but knowing you and your preferences, iOS 13 still doesn’t check most of your boxes.

You love the stock Android experience—you should give the OnePlus a spin before anything else.

Not a chance Verizon will sell the phone ditto for Best Buy. Maybe next generation BB will sell OP phones, but only if they reap some benefit by selling them through a carrier.

May as well just order direct from OP. You'll love the phone.

It's a hood phone, nice screen and fast but it's heavy hut if you had a xs max before then you should be fine. Personally the gestures ans speed is the best part about one plus.

Honestly it's all the same with a slightly different experience the overall use of Android is the same. I'll probably say the last big change I noticed was Samsung implementing the drag down to search feature os the s8 on TouchWiz. It's still not easy to use as iPhone but it's getting better. My point was Android hype dies down fast period. If I wasn't wrong you dudes wouldn't buy 5 phones a year.

You could have watched reviews before you bought the pixel. It was known from the start the screen wasn't that good and hard to see outdoors. That's one of the things reviewers test during reviews.

Get the 7 pro for certain.

For 40% off the flag ship price, one cannot expect to have everything. Yet the original intent of a phone is calling, text and browsing works, that is a plus.

I agree though, hype dies down very fast for most Android phones. But at least OP is trying and experimenting with truly innovative features. So I support that and will buy their phone. In the U.S. there is nothing like the OP7 Pro that will work with most of the carriers and has warranty support.

The latest implementation of the optical fingerprint sensor is exceptional and blows away Samsung's ultra sonic in terms of speed and consistency. Sure Samsung may be more secure, but no one is stealing my fingerprints.

The 90hz refresh rate and 135hz touch input separate this phone from all others I've used in terms of speed and fluidity. This screen is the best I've ever used on a phone. It's crisp, color accurate, uniform across the entire screen, and almost no color shift off angle. And allows the user to completely adjust color if desired, including white point.

The pop up camera I've used maybe 10 times in the month I've had the phone and am not worried about it ever breaking. Love it or hate it...innovation / trying something.

DC dimming option. Name another OLED phone (fully compatible with U.S. carriers) that offers users this experience. I don't count Huawei or Xiaomi here, debatable. Another innovative option to try and counter PWM sensitivity.

Oxygen OS is better (in my opinion) than stock Android on the Pixels. It adds a lot to the user experience and isn't a bloat filled mess. I've used Samsung's OneUI and it is much better than TouchWiz. But it still can be convoluted and I found that it still got in the way when I was trying to navigate / find things or get tasks done.

And the notch free life is great. So is the hole punch free life. Innovation here as well.

So, happy to support OP and give them credit for producing a great product. Re: buying 5 phones a year, it's a hobby of mine. There are worse hobbies to have. I'm fascinated by tech and what we are able to cram into these phones. The power we have in our pockets is amazing. I will probably buy the Pixel 4 later this year unless there is a notch or hole punch. Not sure I will buy the iPhone 11, if anything I'll be going 11R this year.

Never forget Oneplus is part of the Oppa and Vivo family. Their store signs popped up most of the Asian countries.

IMO its hard to recommend the OP 7 Pro now that the price of the S10 have taken such a dive. The OP 7 Pro is a beast and at its retail price is an amazing value, but now that S10s are roughly the same price its not worth it. Head to head the S10 is just a better phone. Price was the only thing tipping the scales for the OP.

Sadly, neither phone touches anywhere close to the Pixel line in terms of camera quality. Its crazy to me that in this age where slight improvements are what separates phones, that the Pixel line is sooooo far ahead of everyone else in camera quality and its not even close.

On paper / specs / features yes the S10+ handily wins, but for my real world use the OP7 Pro bests the S10+. Different strokes for different folks, 'tis the beauty of Android. Seriously good hardware everywhere.

Camera- S10+ is better. The difference is not at all important (yet) to me.
Battery- S10+ is objectively better, I'll give Samsung that.
Speakers- S10+ sounded richer and more full. OP7 Pro isn't bad at all and I'm happy with the sound.
Wireless charging- obviously S10+. Annoying but I'm managing just fine without it.
IP rating- S10+ wins, don't care at all about this.
Charge share or whatever it is called- S10+ obviously, couldn't care less about that feature.
Weight / ergonomics- S10+ is better. Doesn't bother me at all though re: OP7 Pro.
Samsung Pay- obviously S10+. Google Pay works everywhere I need it to.
Screen- the only things Samsung has on OP7 Pro are max brightness and always on display. Everything else about the screen goes in favor of OP. Apparently OP is working on an AOD implementation for the OP7 Pro, hope so.

That about sums it up for me. The S10+ should trounce the OP7 Pro based on the above but it just doesn't do it for me. I won't beat a dead horse about what is great about the OP7 Pro.

I'm - very - hyped for the Pixel 4. Google had better deliver considering the leak(s) and teases it provided. Hopefully they'll get gestures figured out and app developers will cooperate.

I would absolutely take and recommend the one plus 7 pro over a Galaxy S10 plus any day of the week even if the S10+ was cheaper I'd still take the 7 pro in a heartbeat .

Lagwiz blows compared to stock Android, especially the souped up version of oxygen OS on OnePlus phones, it's easily the smoothest silkiest performing UI on Android

And Samsung phones ship with so much bloatware, and duplicate apps, and stupid apps you can't even delete.

And software updates with Samsung? Hahaha LOL.

I can't think of one good reason why I would ever take a Samsung Galaxy S phone over a OnePlus or Pixel?
