The concern with the open vs Z fold 5 is

Durability and repair options. If there is an issue you know you can depend on Samsung care. Obviously no wireless charging means no reverse wireless charging

Guess how it competes software wise will be interesting to see

Well, we know how it competes software wise... Samsung is much better in that department. But I do like OnePlus Open dock... reminds me of Pixel Fold. In addition to that, their multitasking setup is pretty sweet too.

However, until Samsung address the narrow outer (cover) display... critics will continue to bring that up. And for those who are not feeling the outer (cover) display on the Galaxy Fold, then OnePlus Open is for them.

But I'm curious what are your thoughts on it? I think you mention earlier about waiting on the Z Fold 6...

Not sure to be honest

I’ve put down a deposit for it and will decide if to pull trigger tomorrow when it’s open to pay the rest off

It does seem great and part of me thinks I should just stick with fold 5 and wait it out. The part of me that concerns me is if anything goes wrong with it

As good as the multitasking looks on the open I do enjoy Samsungs 3 at once option in its own windows

I've watched and read a ton of reviews. I think this is clearly the best foldable when compared to the Galaxy Fold 5 and Google Pixel Fold. The lack of wireless charging is annoying. I'm also not clear if this device can be repaired at uBreakiFix? I would not want my only option to be mailing this device to OnePlus for repairs.

Regarding price, expect a big discount right before Xmas. The GF5 was $300 off at Amazon last month.

I'm looking forward to seeing some reviews here from you guys and gals... I think the phone ticks a lot of boxes obviously... Also looking forward to seeing some photos and some comparisons versus Samsung and Google... It does seem a little confusing with the trade-in because they take the $200 off the order in the US whether you tick or untick any phone for $200 trade in.. so US peeps keep us updated on how them final sales shake out... Good luck with all the pre-orders my friends..

Clearly? I don't think so. Yes... when it comes to the outer (cover) display because most users prefer a wider one compared to what the Galaxy Fold offers. And some users don't really care for the bezels on the inner screen of the Pixel Fold.

But other than that, software is where the Galaxy Fold shines... S-Pen, DeX capabilities, ability to have different sets of layouts for the outer & inner screen, and Good Lock module. The thing is in terms of features... there's more to the Galaxy Fold than with the OnePlus Open.

And I think the OnePlus Open is an awesome foldable... outer display is great on it; level of brightness it can go is crazy and they did good on the whole UI layout. But I don't think it's the best... it's more to any device than the hardware.

The hardware of the OPO blows away the GF5. And I'm saying that even with the lack of wireless charging on the OPO.

If the software features you listed are a big deal to someone, then sure, they can opt for the GF5 instead. But I would say overall the OPO is clearly the best foldable available in NA.

Blows away the hardware in what way? I listed the software features that the OPO lacks… yet you claim it’s clearly the best foldable. Heck, if that’s the case I surely should trade my GF4 and pick up the OPO lol.

But we been down this road before… you was hyped about the Pixel Fold, later decided it wasn’t for you. I imagine you will buy the OPO and go through the cycle again… hopefully I’m wrong.

I’m not getting the OPO. And I soured on the GPF once it was released and we saw its issues.

The OPO compared to the GF5 has superior screens, a wider cover screen, a larger inner screen, three speakers, lighter, and a much less noticeable crease. IMO it is a far superior piece of hardware compared to the GF5.

Wait a min.. you not getting the OPO? I’m confused.. why not? Since it’s the best foldable in the market.

And if it’s such a superior piece of hardware… does durability play apart in it? IPX4 rating with the OPO versus IPX8 with GF5…

I’m holding out for dust protection.

IMO all the advantages I listed far outweigh the GF5’s wireless charging and superior water protection.

I'll report back once I've read and watched the reviews. Kinda funny how their motto is 'never settle' when they don't offer wireless charging with the OPO 😆
While I agree about the Never Settle statement I'm wondering if Qi charging was a compromise due to battery health longevity or charging efficiency issues causing too much warmth.

I don't what wireless charging is on the Android landscape but in iOS on the iPhones its terrible - so much to the fact that this year Apple quitely discontinued their magsafe charging accessories and to be honest bbetween the iPhone 12 & 13 mini's MagSafe really killed battery health in less than 7mths between them from 100:83% just 1 % above their standard replacement under warranty threshold.

Well, jeez...pre-orders are sold out now in the US.

I guess the green is more popular.

Is there any difference in support? OnePlus has their insurance as well although it is more expensive. At least over here the Samsung repair process is known to be slow and awful while OnePlus is more unknown, but I’d be surprised if it’s worse.

One plus don’t have any insurance care plan here as far as I know

I like this guy review. Google Pay doesn't seems to work yet? That's not good.
It might be a software update needed for Google Pay... He ran through a couple of nitpicks which is always nice to see from a regular person using the phone.. Wi-Fi range is something to keep an eye on folks when you do your testing...

It should be £1,250

Either way for maybe the best foldable that’s a good price
Incorrect I believe. The £99 is a deposit, it does not reduce the price by £99. It just means £99 less off the balance. Ie the price in the UK is still £1,599 - £250 = £1,350.
