Kept trying to place my order in the Apple Store app, but it kept erroring out. Then I checked my email, and the order had gone through. I had select in-store pickup for 9/16, but my order says delivers to my house 9/28-10/3. Never even finished checkout in the app, where I could select a pickup time.
Sort of the same situation here. Apple Store allowed me to select in store pickup time , yet after order placed it shows delivery to my house now. WTF.
I hope Apple doesn’t cancel our orders.
 
Mine went through on the Apple Store app. I had already set up the get prepared option so it was pretty seamless. 14 Pro Deep Purple 256GB for pick up at the Apple Store on Friday morning.
 
I got what I want. Max 256gb on Black.

I wanted to pick it up at local store, but the app store crashed on me so I'm gonna have to wait for the UPS guy to show up at my house.

Same here, and I wasn’t about to start all over again to see if the ISPU worked on the 2nd go round. Not happy, but I’ll just have to stalk UPS the day of.

My objective in doing this was to hand over my iPhone 13 in store for credit , I can’t be bothered with mailing it in to them. My ex who ordered exactly the same time as me and sitting next to me chose a different time for in store pickup and her confirmation shows all correctly. Wonder what would happen if I go to the Apple Store with her and see if they accept my iPhone there and then and apply it to my order ?

Same. I do have at least 4 Apple Stores within a 25 mile radius, and I’m just going to go into the Apple Store and do my trade-in in person. I selected an 8-8:15 am ISPU which then booted me to home delivery. Maybe I shouldn’t have been so eager, but I had no problems last year with the same pickup window.

I don‘t see why you wouldn’t be able to. They might want you to schedule an appointment though. I can only guess that they will be slammed with all of the scheduled pickups.

I was hoping to politely ask the Genius person after he or she was done dealing with my ex about if I could trade it in and have the credit applied to my purchase order ?

Hmmm… you can try. Not sure how that would work though. They might ask you to return your phone and re-purchase in order to apply the credit.

I'm surprised so many people had issues this morning. Apple's pre-order process is usually pretty seamless for me. I was able to snag my 256GB Space Black for in-store pickup on 9/16.

When I ordered at 5:05, most of the pickup time slots for my local Apple store were already gone. Luckily, I was able to grab an afternoon slot just in time, so I'm pretty satisfied.
 
I almost didn’t because of one of my stupid banks! I had to transfer funds to my other bank to make the purchase but I still got my delivery date!! Sept 16 hurry up!

Will be replacing my white XR, with a gold 14 Pro, 256 GB. I liked the purple but since I try to keep my phones for several years, wasn't sure if I would get tired of purple. Excited for Sept 16th delivery. Appreciate the posts with suggestions for first time pre order users.

I ordered through ATT. Happened to check at about 7:50 and it let me in and I ordered a Silver 512 Pro Max. I was flipping back and forth between black and purple but went with silver last minute.
Similar to you, I got in at 7:55. I ordered the silver. I was torn on the color up until last night. After watching as many videos as I could find, I decided the purple didn't look how I expected.
 
I tried to log in through the desktop store site and the store app, the desktop store site came up for me first about 2-3 minutes after the advertised time. It let me purchase both of my pre-orders on two separate transactions. I'm not sure why it doesnt let you buy multiple phones in one transaction?

Anyway, i had to sign in so many times. Any time i went to a new page i had to sign in again? I probably signed in 5 times, it took up so much time. But i was able to order what i had set up last night, a 14PM Silver 128gb for myself and a 14P Silver 128gb for my wife, both scheduled for a 9/16 delivery. Fingers crossed. Still have to get through the physical sim to esim hurdle =(

I just got off the phone with Apple support. The person I talked to was really nice. She said that she doesn't know why my phone got changed to ship vs pick-up. The only way to change it now, of course, is to cancel the order and reorder. Weirdly, my trade-in still shows as in-store. So I'm going to have to go to the store anyway. Silliness.

She did say that Apple ships almost all phones via UPS, with a few going FedEx, and she hasn't heard that anything is changing there. I won't know which, of course, until it actually ships.

I checked the store, and if I reorder and ship it won't arrive until around October 15th. But it shows pickup available on 09/17. But I'm not sure I trust that. I'm reluctant to try and reorder, just in case.

Poor woman I talked to sounded very harried. She said a lot of people's orders aren't even showing up at all, and others — like mine — have a lot of strange things that have happened. I can imagine she's talked to a lot of unhappy people. (She's waiting for a purple 14 pro also.) I told her I had a deep feeling of sympathy for her for the next few days.
 
I did the pre-order yesterday.

Could not get into the Apple store at 8AM on my Mac and Windows computers. Finally gave up.

Picked up my iPhone, had an email from Apple to confirm my order. Went through immediately. IP14 Pro Max 512G GOLD.

Delivery on the 16th.

OK, so I did not order a phone today, it's not an upgrade year for me.

BUT...

I did get signed up for a pint of A to Z Creamery ice cream! He only makes 600 pints a week of a single flavor, and each week it's either a lottery or a "first come, first served" deal. Either way it's tough to get your hands on a pint. But today I did! Picking it up tomorrow!

(Oddly enough, this week's flavor is purple-colored, which would be the color of iPhone I WOULD get if I ordered one!)

Sadly, this means nothing to %99.999 of us. But, good for you! 😁
