Got my "Int'l shipment release" update from Anchorage... estimated delivery date is still 5/25.

Should that 5/25 date be pretty solid? I don't think I've ever ordered anything from Apple that didn't ship from the US.

So far everything I've ordered that comes from Apple in China has gotten here before the FedEx date. Sometimes 1 day earlier other times 4 days earlier.

Goodbye, Alaska! :p

Just to follow up, I did receive my iPad today, around 2 PM. I'm really angry at the eBay seller I bought my SGP AF screen protector from, because it is now 3 days past the latest day it was supposed to arrive, and when I asked the seller what happened, he told me that, "It might have gotten lost in the mail." He said if it didn't come by Friday, he would send another one and refund me $10 (I paid $20). I haven't taken the plastic off of my iPad (because I don't want to risk fingerprinting/scratching the screen. Besides that, it's running beautifully! I hope my screen protector comes in a reasonable amount of time (whether he sends a new one or not), as the plastic on the screen adds a little more glare, and makes the screen feel a little "sticky".

Wow. Chill.

Step back from the iPad.

Take a deep breath.

Okay.

The face is GLASS. Do you have a diamond pimp ring? I didn't think so.

Remove the plastic or all your friends will think you are one of those dorks that put plastic on carpets and sofas.

Now, when you do get the protector, which I don't think you need, clean the screen with a micro cloth. You can use tape to get off lint. Then, turn the shower on in the bathroom so it makes all the stuff in the air drop. Then take your iPad in there and apply the protector. You won't have any lint under it.

Cheers!

Aww well you called me on not having a diamond pimp ring, but I'm really only doing this for a day or two more I think, just in case the screen protector comes. I know glass is hard (about a 7 on the Mohs scale) and I would need something pretty hard to scratch it. Finger prints are more annoying for me really. As for not needing a screen protector, you're right. I don't really want it for the fact that I think the screen will be damaged, but for the fact that it SIGNIFICANTLY reduces glare (and I plan to read a lot on this), as well as finger prints. I use a similar film on my 3GS, and I really like what it does to the screen, even though it SLIGHTLY softens fine detail.

Did you get matte? I had that on my iPhone... no fingerprints and better in the sun... but it was like a condom on my you-know-what. Now I prefer my Apple products bareback.

How do you and mjt9090 know what planes they (might) be on?

I know all of my packages get routed through Memphis because of my location. There is only 1 flight this time of day from Anchorage-Memphis (FedEx anyways). My package departed AK just about an hour before the plane took off, I would assume the hour difference is from loading other items.

ETA: I'm an aviation chick. Used to work for the airlines before doing the whole mom gig now...so I let my dork side come out and track the flights, etc.

Yes, the matte/anti-glare/anti-fingerprint (they go by different names). It's better in the sun, better out of the sun (in regularly-lit rooms), better in low-light conditions, and eliminates fingerprints.

The fact that it prevents scratches due to the occasional contact with diamond pimp rings (and aggregated diamond nanorods) is an added-bonus. I don't see the downside to using protection here...

I don't know why Apple doesn't use a matte screen as standard fare. It is much better than glossy. My MBP is a 17" matte just because I hate glare.

Yep, and the i7 15.4 inch MBP I got for college not long ago is also anti-glare. I can't stand Apple's super glossy standard screens. I do a lot of photography, and glossy screens are a pain to work on in Photoshop.

Mine was on the same plane. It made a quick turn around in Memphis and is now in Mobile waiting to be put on the truck. It's hard to believe mine was in Hong Kong this time yesterday and it looks as if I'm going to get my iPad today! I'm an aviation person also (pilot) and see my dork side come out in times like this also :).

Good to know I'm not alone ;) My husband and I are both pilots...our poor kids are doomed, welcomed to the the world with airplane crib bedding ha.

Mine is in Mobile also! When I woke up it hadn't even left Memphis yet (departed 5:16am, which means I was up way too early) so glad to see it is in Mobile now!

It should be on the truck sometime this morning. :)

I have lots of airplane and helicopter crib bedding I need to sell at a garage sale or something. Our babies rooms were full of the stuff. Poor kids.
